MINITOPICS (FIRST 10.15 MINS OF EVERY CLASS)

1. Class rules: introduce, can, cant, must, mustn't


2. We can = it is ok for us to do. E.g. "We can ask our teacher questions"
3. We can't = it is not ok for us to do. E.g. "We can't talk while our teacher is
talking"
4. We must = very strong - things we have to do. E.g. "We must do our
homework"
5. We mustn't = very strong - things we never do. E.g. "We mustn't take things
without asking"

a. Put two kids against eachother, put letters flashcards on the floor,

a. Start introducing, what did you do today, yesterday, and what will
you do tomorrow

LESSON ONE:

Go over to be on board

Practice quick responses. I say a subject(I, he, she it, Dog), the
class calls out the correct be-verb. Use subject flashcards

TO BE VERB WORKSHEET (printed and in teachers lounge)

Play a game at the end of class.

LESSON TWO:

WH QUESTIONS:
(Conversation cards: about me, QUESTION WH PRACTICE)

● Age: How old are you?


● Hometown: Where are you from?
● Pets: What pet do you have?
● Food: What is your favorite food?
● Drink: What is your favorite drink?
● Color: What is your favorite color?
● Brothers / Sisters: How many brothers and sisters do you have?
● Birthday: When is your birthday?
● Who is your favorite superhero?
● What is your favorite sport?

WH CARDS: Have students write questions using WH cards and then ask eachother
questions using identity cards.

Lesson three: PRESENT SIMPLE

Have students match action verbs pictures to written words.

Writing activity: Have students as a class pick a bunch of activity verbs,


have them pick identity cards and create a story. Whoever writes the best
story wins a prize (you can decide prizes from the teachers lounge)

LESSON 4: PRESENT CONTINUOUS

Action verbs but using present continuous.
