Introduction
• The technical report is a compulsory report written and submitted to the Department at the end of the
SIWES programme.
• The SIWES is regarded as a 6 credit units course, and Technical Report constitutes 25%.
• The number of pages should be between 30-40 pages for the whole report (excluding appendices).
• Two (2) spiral-binded copies of the report, printed on an A4 sized papers with the following
descriptions should be submitted to the department on or before 7th February, 2019:
Font Type: Times new Roman
Font size: 12 for texts and 14 for headings and subheadings
Spacing: 1.5
Margin: Left, Right, Bottom and Top margins should be left with the default margin of 2cm each.

Chapter Two
• This chapter deals with activities during the SIWES period.
• Your logbook should guide you towards writing this chapter. Avoid
DEFINITIONS!
• It is a comprehensive report of the monthly/weekly summary of your Logbook.
• The major part of the report and everyone must have a completely distinct way of
reporting the activities he partake during the SIWES programme.
• An example is illustrated in the next slide:

• 2.1 Introduction
The second chapter of this report deals with the activities performed during the
SIWES period. There were 4 activities I took during my 6 months training at
MIS/ICT Unit, Yobe State University, Damaturu. They are:

iii. Computer hardware maintenance; and
iv. Networking.

Appendices
• Appendix contains supplementary materials that are not essential part of the
report. They are optional, but recommended to avoid clumsy and disorderly
report. That is, for example, in some cases where you don’t want to put
picture in your report to avoid clumsiness, you just make reference to it. For
instance:
• The websites login page has two fields –username and password(see appendix A).
• Label all attached Appendices with capital letters starting with A and so on.

Modalities for grading the Technical Report

• The technical report constitutes 25% of the whole SIWES marks. Hence the
25 marks are assessed and awarded based on the following:
• Preliminary pages, Chapters One, Three and Four --------- 10marks
• Chapter Two --------- 10marks
• Use of Language and report formatting --------- 5marks
