A. Blue
Out of the blue – suddenly and unexpectedly.
(do sth) Till you’re blue in the face – with a lot of effort
and for a very long time without success.
B. Black
Black and blue – covered with bruises.
(in) Black and white – absolutely right or wrong.
A black day (for sb) – a day when sth sad, unpleasant
happens (to sb).

A/the black sheep (of the family) – a person who is
different from the rest of their family or another group.
C. Brown
Browned off (with sb/sth) – bored, unhappy and/or
annoyed.
D. Green
Give sb/get the green light – allow sb/be allowed to
begin sth.
Green about the gills – looking or feeling as if you
are going to be sick.
Green fingers/thumb – to be good at making plants
grow.
Green with envy – very jealous.
The green-eyed monster – a feeling of anger or
unhappiness because sb you love is showing interest in
sb else.
The grass is (always) greener on the other side
(of the fence) – things always seem better in another
place.
