1- Scope
 The purpose of this document is to precise the inspection procedure and the
allowable tolerance of the granite tiles. This inspection is to be made at the factory
before transporting the tiles to the site.
 The present revision B of this document is made according to the decisions
taken during meeting held on 28/9/95 with all concerned parties.
 The following tolerances are based on the French standard and agreed upon
during the a/m meeting.
 For other applicable standard, the English translation of the useful French
standards was given during the meeting.
 As for the other requirements of the TS a full test report have been transmitted
with our letter U/95/24546 INB/16431 RAA dated 26/9/965 additional tests will
be made upon NAT/GCMC requests.

Tiles fir flooring

2.4Tolerances
- Thickness : 0 mm / + 3 mm
- Length : ± 1 mm for small tiles which are 12 cm by x and 8 cm by
x (x is variable)
- Width : ± 1 mm
- Length : ± 1 mm for all other tiles
- Width : ± 1 mm
- Flatness : maximum 0.8 mm if the size is <= 0.5 m for polished and
sand blasted tiles.
- Angularity : ± 1 mm max. if the biggest size is > 30 cm
± 0.5 mm max. if the biggest size is > 30 cm

2.5Packing
 The tiles shall be in secure wooden boxes so as avoid any damage during
handling and transportation.
 Any damaged tile during handling and transportation will be rejected.
2.6 Inspection
 The inspection of the tiles will be done at the factory for lats of 500 m2
maximum.

Treads and rises for stairs

3.3Tolerances
- Thickness : 0 mm / + 1.5 mm for the risers ( 2 cm thick)
0 mm / + 1.5 mm for the treads ( 4 cm thick)

- Sizes : for treads length : ± 0.1 %

- Width : -1 mm + 3 mm
For risers : according to the approved drawings
- Flatness : ± 1 /500 L where L is the biggest size of the tile
- Angularity : ± 0.15% of the length
± 0.5 mm max. if the biggest size is > 30 cm
Packing
The tiles shall be in wooden pallets. Any damage tile will be rejected.

3.4Inspection
The tiles will be checked by lots of 300 linear meters of tiles.

Edging
4.3Tolerances
- Thickness : 0 mm / + 3 mm
- Width and Length : ± 1 mm
- Angularity : ± 1 mm
- Flatness : 0.8 mm max. for polished surface
0.8 mm max. for sand blasted surface
Packing
The tiles shall be in wooden boxes or pallets. Any damage tile during handling
or transported will be rejected.

4.4Inspection
The tiles will be done at the factory by lots of 150 m2 of finished products.
Note : The tiles for the logo are not included in this procedure as they are not
defined yet.
A further revision of this procedure will be done to define the tolerances and
inspection lots of these tiles.

Measuring procedure
5.4Dimensions
For each size 3 measures are made and the average is calculated.
The measurement is madder as shown hereunder:

Thickness
The measuring is made in 8 points as shown and the average thickness
calculated:

5.5Flatness
The measuring is made in 6 points using a straight rule and wedge plates:

5.6Angularity
Using straight ruler the measure is made

Provisional acceptance :
A weekly visit to the factory with the attendance of NAT/GCMC representative
is to be organized to perform the tests.
From each lot to be checked 10 tiles are randomly taken and checked.
The number of non-conforming units found in these 10 tiles is called NC
- if Nc = 0. The lot is accepted
- if Nc = 2. The lot should not be transported to the site
- if Nc = 1.10 additional tiles are taken and checked and the number
of non conforming units is called Nc’
- if Nc’ = 0 the lot is accepted
- if Nc’ = 1. The lot should not be transported to the site.
