DIVISION Division: It is a process of sharing or dividing into groups. Remember that division j Tepeated subtraction. TABLES ARE IMPORTANT WHILE DOING DIVISION THE ORDER OF NUMBERS CANNOT BE INTERCHANGED IN DIVISION e.g. If 12 +6 th it cannot be 6 + 12 DIVISION BY ZERO IS NOT POSSIBLE TEST OF DIVISIBILITY: 1. Test of divisibility of 2 : A number, which has 0 or 2 or 4 or 6 or 8 in the units place; is divisible by 2. e.g. 248 : The number in units place is 8. So this number is divisible by 2. 2. — Test of divisibility of 3 : If the sum of the digits of the number is divisible by 3, the that number is divisible by 3. e.g. 687 : Here sum of the digits of the number 6 + 8 + 7 = 21 The number 21 is divisible by 3. So 687 is divisible by 3. 3. Test of divisibility of 4: If the number formed by last two digits (i.e. the digit at tens place and units place) is exactly divisible by 4 then the number is Bon also divisible by 4. e.g. 7532 : The number formed by the last two digits is 32 and it is divisible by 4 Hence the whole number 7532 is divisible by 4. 4. — Test of divisibility of 5 : A number, which has 0 or 5 in the units place, is divisible by Ss e.g. 240 : The number in units place is 0. So this number is divisible by 5. e.g. 385 : The number in units place is 5. So this number is divisible by 5. pe a ree 18 5.
