Let's Practice

Activity 1

1. Primoridial Heat 2. Radiogenic Heat

energy

RADIOACTIVE ATOM Particle

3. Gravitational pressure

Activity 2

1 The Earth's temperature varues from one another. The temperature in the base of the crust ranges
around 1000°C, while the base of the mantle is around 3500°C. Lastly, the Earth's center is around
5000°C

2. The temperature varies according to rocks inside of it because rocks are great insulators of heat. And
it is also because of the increasing and decreasing of heat.

Let's Do More

1 The heat flow is different from each country. Malaysia and Singapore's area has the highest heatflow
while the Philippines’ heat flow is ranging around 10-70 mW/m².

2. The slowest heat flow in the Philippines is in Mindanao, mainly the areas of Davao, Cotabato, and
Sultan Kudarat.

3. High and low heat flow imply the changing temperature of the Earth and how it decreases and
increases from time to time.

Activity 2

E – energy source

A – and the

R – reason for

T – the planet to

H – help sustain lives

Let's Sum It Up

1. Three sources of internal heat are primordial heat, radiogenic heat, and heat from gravitational
pressure.

2. I can now understand that each source of internal heat generates energy through radioactive decay
that builds up within the Earth.

3. I have learned that internal heat of the Earth drives geologic activities such as plate-tectonic
movements like earthquakes and volcanic eruption.

Let's Assess
