WHAT'S IN: Activity 1:

1. Crust - is the outermost layer of the earth.

2. Mantle - is the layer of the earth bounded below by the core and
above by the crust.

3. Core - it is the innermost layer of the earth.

Activity 2:

1. RH

5. RH

Activity 4:
The three major processes of heat transfer affect the temperature of
the earth by interrelating each other especially the two most important
processes; the conduction and convection. Conduction is transferring both
of the heat from the core and the radiation from the sun to the earth's
surface. Convection then heats up the rest of the air while the radiation
controls the temperatures at the earth's surfaces.
Activity 6:
a. Convection affect the temperature in the surface and mountain
formations through the movement of tectonic plates which caused
by the transfer of heat from the interior of the earth up to the
surface. Hot materials like magma are added at the edges of a plate
then it cools, it becomes dense and sinks into the earth and ocean
trench and this start the formation of mountains and other land
masses.

b. The convection current affects the movement of tectonic plates

through the heated magma in the core and when these magma
comes to the top of the earth's surface, it pushes against tectonic
plates and this movement is called earthquake.

c. Convention in earth's interior affect the temperature in our

atmosphere when the heat from the earth's core transferred to the
surface by conduction and through air molecules come in contact
with the warmer surface of the land and ocean resulting to the
increase of its thermal energy.

d. When the tectonic plates become unstable, the subduction occurs.

The plates enter into the magma and eventually melted and when
these magma rise upwards to the surface they create land masses
like mountains and volcanoes.
e. Earthquake occur in subduction zone because it is the place where
the tectonic plates meet. When these plates are unstable, they
pushing each other and this movement caused the earthquake.

Synthesis: convection and conduction are interrelated through transferring

the heat energy of the earth and they are both responsible in the
formation of land masses like volcanoes and mountain-range formations.
