Activity 4. My Notepad (Page 85)
Directions. In your own words, how do the three (3) major processes of heat transfer affect the temperature of
the Earth? Write your answer on the space provided.

 The three major processes of conduction, convection, and radiation of heat can have an impact on the
temperature of the planet earth by transferring the heat between the Sun and the Earth’s surface. All of
these processors can control the temperature of the Earth’s surface, which results in varying temperature
in different countries and regions. Heat is transmitted between the Earth’s surface and the atmosphere by
the conduction, convection, and radiation when the Earth’s temperature rises to the highest level the heat
losses its mechanics that adequate to balance the solar heat.

2. Nuclear disintegration 7. Molten rocks-mantle
3. Conduction, convection 8. Thermal energy _
4. Conduction _____ 9. Conduction ______
5. Convection _____ 10. Subduction zone _

Activity 6. Illustrate and Explain (Page 89)

Directions. Illustrate the example indicated in the given scenario in the box where conduction and
convection are applied. Then, relate it to the processes occurring in the Earth’s internal heat.

CONDUCTION
Chocolate candy in your hand will eventually melt as the heat from your body is released and makes it
melted.

Explanation:
 A chocolate candy melts because the temperature of the chocolate is lower than the
average temperature of the human’s hand, causing the heat from the human’s hand to
pass to the chocolate candy, causing it to melt.
CONVECTION

A heater in the hot air balloon heats the air. The air inside is trapped causing the balloon to rise.

Explanation:
 The heater inside the hot air balloon heats its air, causing the air to move upward. In
which this cause the hot air balloon to rise as a result of the hot air that trapped inside the
balloon.
