WHAT'S NEW
1. The factors that make the planet habitable are the following:
a. Temperature
b. Atmosphere
c. Energy
d. Nutrients used to build and maintain on organisms' body.
2. It has liquid water and has an atmosphere that shelters it from the
ultraviolet rays.
WHAT'S MORE
Activity 1.1 Understanding planet earth
Earth, Venus and Mars may have similarities. They all are terrestrial
planets which means they made of solid rocks and silicates. They all have
an atmosphere, they all almost have the same time to rotate on their
respective axes especially Earth and Mars with only 0.7 minutes difference.
Earth and Mars both have water. The three planets have carbon dioxide
but Venus has it much and caused greenhouse effect. Earth is differ from
the two in a way that only earth has the oxygen in the composition of
atmosphere and the only known planet that has lifeforms because of the
global magnetic field.
WHAT I CAN DO
1. Mars habitat must contend with surface conditions that include
almost no oxygen in the air, extreme cold, low pressure and high
radiation.
2. There was never a record of life in Mars. You can only live and
survive there if you were fully equipped by suits like of those of
astronauts.
3. There was no known liquid water and natural food source which are
both essentials for us humans.
4. Mars has dust storms which contribute to water loss on mars.
5. Martian soil is toxic, due to relatively high concentrations of
perchlorate compounds containing chlorine.
