1. The characteristics of the planet Earth that make it different from other planets in a way that it is
the only planet that supports life, in which human can breathe in. it is the only planet with a
significant volume of liquid water in the solar system. Approximately 70% of the Earth’s surface is
covered by liquid or frozen water.
WHAT’S NEW
1. Earth’s surface temperature influences how quickly atoms and molecules move and it
has atmosphere, energy, and nutrients used to build and maintain an organism’s body.
2. What are the characteristics of planet Earth that makes it habitable?
WHAT’S MORE
Activity 1.1 Understanding Planet Earth
Earth, Venus and Mars are all terrestrial planets. But Earth is different from the two, because is the only
planet that has Global Magnetic Field and contain H20.The Venus is nearest to the sun and Mars is the
farther. Earth and Venus is almost having the same density, while the Mars have less density.
WHAT I CAN DO
Can man change or adjust Mars’ environment to make it more suitable for human habitation?
How?
1. Increase the temperature
5. Mirrors made of thin aluminized PET film could be placed in orbit around Mars to
increase the total insolation it receives. This would direct the sunlight onto the
surface and could increase Mars's surface temperature directly.
