Based on the availability, a resource may be Renewable or Non-Renewable. Renewable Resources are resources that can be recycled and reused again. Examples in- clude Sunlight, Wind, Biomass, Water, Wood, and Paper Non-Renewable Resources are resources that come in limited quantities and cannot be easily replaced. Examples include Coal, Natural Gas, Crude Oil, and Sand. Properties of Renewable and Non-Renewable Resources Renewable Resources * They can be easily regenerated over a short time period. ‘« Renewable resources are readily available for use. « Renewable resources can be regenerated over a period of time. * Extensive use and exploitation may turn renewable resources into non-renewable ones. Examples of renewable resources include wind, sunlight, and biomass. Non-Renewable Resources * Non-Renewable resources are available in limited quantities or proportions. * The resources cannot be easily regenerated. * Unlike renewable resources, non-renewable resources cannot be regenerated naturally. ‘* Many non-renewable resources remain stored in the Earth's surface (Lithosphere) as minerals. # The resources may exist in either of the three states of matter. Examples minerals (solid), oil (liquid), natural gas (gas).
