1. Marking
1.1 Soft zone:
For single ring without loading plug, the soft zone is the point painted in red and

marked in letter “S” on the outer surface. For single ring with loading plug, the

soft zone is the plug.

1.2 The maximum gear run-out point:

The maximum gear run-out is painted in green on gear ring. The backlash here is

minimum after slewing ring and pinion installation, so backlash must be adjusted

from green painting point.

2. Installation
2.1 The requirement of installing frame
2.1.1 The slewing ring mounting surface and installing frame platform must keep

clean and flat.

2.1.2 The mounting platform should have enough rigidity.

The maximum deformation of installing frame should according to table 1 under

maximum loads.

2.1.3 The installing frame is recommended to use cylindrical welding structure.

The stress-elimination heat treatment should be adapted after welding then

frame can be machined.

2.1.4 The installing frame flatness should according to table 2.

Special note: In the 0° -90° -180° sector area, only one peak allowed to achieve

the value. In order to avoid peak load, the deviation only allows decline or rise

gradually.

2.2 Installation
2.2.1 The soft zone (with outer mark “S”), as well as the loading plug should be in

the non-loading, irregular loading or lightly loading zone.

2.2.2 Checking clearance of abutted plane by feeler gauge is required. Clearance

should be filled up if it exists.

2.2.3 Slewing rings should installed by high strength bolt with suitable strength

class.

2.2.4 Bolt must have enough pre-tightening force, and the produced

pre-tightening stress on it should be within the scope of 0.6-0.7 times of yield

point according with table 3.

2.2.5 Before tightening the bolt, the backlash between gear (the position of teeth

painted green) and pinion should not less than 0.03m(m is module of gear).

2.2.6 When tightening the bolt, the screw thread and nut should be greased and

using torque wrench symmetrically tightening bolt several times along the 180°

direction. See picture 5

3. After installation
3.1 After tightening the bolt, please clear debris between gears and around

slewing ring away in time. Ensure there is no any interference during working.

3.2 Check the slewing ring by rotating more than 3 rounds slowly to confirm

5
whether there is abnormal noise and the engagement between the slewing ring

and the pinion.

3.3 Welding operation is not allowed on or near the equipment which have

already installed with slewing ring.

4. Maintenance
4.1 Lubrication
4.1.1 The slewing ring raceway has been lubricated with a small amount of EP2

grease delivery. Consumers should re-lubricate with suitable grease according to

different application.

4.1.2 The slewing ring raceway is not fully lubricated before delivery, and

consumers should do it before using.

4.1.3 Generally, the ball slewing ring should be lubricated every 100 hours

operation, and every 50 hours for roller slewing ring.

4.1.4 When filling in lithium based grease, it must make the grease even till the

new grease out off from the sealing.

4.1.5 While in special working condition, such as in hot, wet, dusty, large

temperature difference area or after continuous work, the lubrication interval

should be shortened, at least once a week.

4.1.6 The slewing ring raceway also needs to be fully lubricated with fresh grease

before or after long time shutdown.

4.1.7 The slewing ring gear should be cleaned and lubricated every 8-10 working

days, and should not have scrape or other extraneous material on it.

4.2 Other Instructions

4.2.1 The preload of the bolt should be checked after the machine running first

100 hours, and will be inspected every 500 hours operation to keep sufficient

preload.

6
4.2.1 The preload of the bolt should be checked after the machine running first

100 hours, and will be inspected every 500 hours operation to keep sufficient

preload.

4.2.2 Water cannot be used to clean the slewing ring directly to prevent it from

entering into the raceway.

4.2.3 Pay close attention to the slewing ring operation, stop and check the

machine during operation if there is abnormal noise, vibration occurred or

sudden power rose, clear the trouble or dismantle it for repairing if necessary.

4.2.4 Avoid hard foreign bodies approaching or entering the meshing zone.

4.2.5 Check intact of the seal regularly, change in time if damaged.

5. Storage and Maintenance

5.1 The raceway is filled with grease and the outer surface is coated with anti-rust

oil when the slewing ring dispatched.

5.2 If not mounted, the outer surface of slewing ring should be brushed with

anti-rust oil every 6 months and it requires every 3 months in humid area.

5.3 The stacking place should be dry, tidy and without any corrosive media to

avoid rusting.

5.4 Place the slewing ring horizontally to avoid vertical or diagonal displacement.
