EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR. SANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority's 2013 annual survey of Philippine

business and industry, bread, cakes, pastries, pies, and other perishable bakery products

accounted for the most manufacturing establishments in the formal sector of the Philippine

economy, with 6,618 or 26.3 percent. Changes in the baking industry have been seen in

recent years, along with changes in Filipino tastes, preferences, and lifestyles. Most bakeries

in our nation today utilize electric or gas ovens, which take less effort to run and maintain

than the traditional method of baking loaves of bread and pastries in a brick oven or

"Pugon." It has been simpler for bakeries to function effectively and ensure the quality of

each product they produce thanks to the use of equipment and technology.

As something of a matter of fact, we’d like to introduce you to The Daily Kneads with

the tagline “Take a bite and indulge your Daily Kneads'' which provides nutritional and

scrumptious snacks that will be sold at a reasonable price to ensure that customers are

happy not only with the product's flavor but also with its pricing. Ube-Cheese Pandesal and

Cookies were some of our offerings. So The Daily Kneads's Homemade-based baked goods'

major goal is to provide delectable goods that people will appreciate and will fill their

stomachs. We decided that Iriga City, Baao, Nabua, Balatan, Bula, and Bato, as well as

other areas in the Rinconada District, would be our target customers. The Daily Kneads

offers a variety of high-quality yet affordable baked products.

The Daily Kneads prioritizes safe transactions and offers delivery to ensure the

safety and health of the customers. Despite being new to the business industry, The Daily

Kneads is a very strong competitor for many due to its aesthetically pleasing design and

trendy products. It is managed by five hardworking people who are also living within the

Rinconada area. Moreover, each member is taking a hands-on management role according

to their respective roles in the business.

Our product is provided via a variety of tactics that we have decided. The first tactic

we considered was a wide range of baked goods, where customers can see what they can

buy with our products by visiting our business page (The Daily Kneads), where we share our

baked goods. The next is the door-to-door modality of delivery, which specifies a shipping

method in which the goods are picked up at the shop’s door and delivered to the customer’s

door, with an additional delivery fee. The other is the meet-up delivery option, wherein the

company chooses the location where the consumer will be picked up and the order will be

delivered. Lastly, surprises for various celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, and other

special occasions where the customer specifies where, when, and at what time our products

will be delivered as a surprise to their family, relatives, loved ones, or friends, and of course,

we have special baked goods that we can bundle for them so that they can feel the

pleasantries of our company throughout most of the special occasion.

Food safety and quality could be jeopardized. The threat should be worrying about

keeping the food we offer at the appropriate high and low-pressure handling temperatures,

and our reputation is built on how wonderful our product is. Nonetheless, we pledge that

our company will make every effort to avoid misappropriation to ensure our customer’s

pleasure and satisfaction as well as to provide them with relevant goods.

UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR. SANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

● Ensure a Healthy Workforce

Benefits can help in promoting the health and well-being of employees. For

example, offering health insurance and wellness programs can help

employees access necessary medical care and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

This can reduce absenteeism and improve productivity.

● Attract the Most Talented Employees

Employee benefits are one of the most important considerations when

candidates research a new employer. A comprehensive benefits package can

help the business stand out from other competitor businesses and attract the

best candidates.

● Boost Employee Productivity

Productivity suffers when employees are unsatisfied. For example, offering

flexible work arrangements or paid time off can help employees manage their

work-life balance, leading to increased engagement and productivity.

● Minimize Employee Turnover

Employee benefits can play a huge role in reducing employee turnover. A

well-considered and holistic benefits package can help employees feel valued

and appreciated, leading to increased job satisfaction and a lower likelihood

of leaving the organization.

● Enjoy Better Morale

UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR. SANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

Benefits can foster a positive work environment which will improve morale.

For example, offering perks such as flexible work timings or a casual dress

code can help create a more relaxed and enjoyable work environment.

● Helping the Employees Outside the Workplace

Benefits can also extend beyond the workplace and support employees in

their personal lives. For example, offering financial planning services or

tuition reimbursement can help employees achieve their personal and

professional goals.

● Job Satisfaction

A comprehensive benefits package can help employees feel valued and

appreciated, increasing job satisfaction and engagement. This can ultimately

improve performance, lower turnover, and establish a more positive and

productive work environment.

MARKETING ASPECT

MARKET STUDY

The business relates to a food company that specializes in home-based goods. There

is a strong desire to indulge in eating delectable foods, and a pastry shop can satisfy that

need. The Daily Kneads aims to match the expectations of it’s target market, which consists

of children, teens, and adults with a sweet tooth, and promises to satisfy their cravings at a

reasonable price. According to an article by Romsanne R. Ortiguero (2018), Filipinos love

bread in particular. Similar to rice, these baked dishes are usually eaten for breakfast or as a

snack and are a mainstay on the local dining table. From the beloved pandesal, Filipinos

have come to enjoy a wide range of bread, from savory to the typical sweet varieties that

satiate their sweet tooth demands.

UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR. SANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

In addition, in a 2013 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry published in

2016, the Philippine Statistics Authority reported that 6,618 establishments, or 26.3% of the

total 25,149 manufacturing establishments in the formal sector of the economy, were

engaged in the production of bread, cakes, pastries, pies, and other "perishable" bakery

products. The demand for bread and other baked items is growing as more and more

people eat out. Bread, cakes, pastries, and other baked foods are favorites among the

Filipino people. This love of baked goods gave rise to chances for business development,

innovation, and exploration of the seemingly limitless possibilities in baking for

entrepreneurs.

INDUSTRY

The Daily Kneads belongs to the food industry, thus, producing edible, affordable,

and mouth-watering products to serve to customers. The Daily Kneads offers trendy but

delicious baked goods like Ube-Cheese Pandesal and Cookies. The products offered by The

Daily Kneads are the toothsome and satisfying versions of the baked goods that are popular

among customers and consumers by modifying their ingredients, changing them from the

usual taste and appearance of the product, giving a twist for improvement which will catch

not just the eyes but especially the mouth of the customers.

TARGET MARKET

The target market would be the residents in the Rinconada area, but the majority

are the people under the age of 17-30 who enjoy gathering a lot with their friends because,

for instance, baked goods are for celebrations too. All residents in the Rinconada are the

target customers including children who love sweet desserts. The Daily Kneads proudly

offers these products with a price that will surely fit their budget and the health benefits
UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR. SANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

that the business baked goods have for having a low-fat content, and for bringing a smile to

their faces because of the sweet taste, sweet aroma, and amazing texture that The Daily

Kneads baked goods can offer.

SWOT ANALYSIS

Strengths

The Administration is knowledgeable, kind customer service, and has a creative

method of preparing baked goods. With a minimum selling price of only 100.00 to 150.00

per box, this product is affordable to people of all income levels. It is less expensive than

other pastry stores because the product has a variety of ingredients and is therefore worth

the price. The Daily Kneads consider it as one of the business’s strengths because it is so

simple to produce. The proponents have created a Facebook page to make it simpler for

consumers to contact the owners and acquire the goods.

Weaknesses

Proponents were only just beginning to use the internet to promote their products,

and client engagement has been limited due to the business's inexperience. One of our

perceived weaknesses is that our products are outsold by numerous competitors. The Daily

Kneads' weakness is that the business is a stranger to the market with no renowned name.

The shop has no control over opportunities or threats.

Opportunities

If the business is successful, there is the prospect of franchising. The business might

potentially become a supplier to these stores, such as cake shops and coffee shops, selling

the product to their stores. The proponents will certainly provide new flavors and recipes to
UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR. SANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

draw additional clients. Because the business goods are inexpensive, Daily Kneads will be

able to accomplish its target quickly.

Threats

Food businesses are among the most profitable – pastry shops in particular face

numerous threats, such as the growth of local cake shops and bakeries daily. It will also be

a threat to the business if someone sells baked goods that are both cheaper and more

delicious than ours. Business inflation or an increase in the cost of essential supplies may

also make it difficult for proponents to budget their financial capabilities.

COMPETITORS’ PROFILE AND ANALYSIS

The Daily Kneads' competitors are other pastry shops or bakeries such as Bela Bella

Bakery & Cafe, Bread Corner, Artiaga Bakeshop, and other pastry businesses in Rinconada

Area.

COMPETITORS STRENGTHS

1. Huge Amount of Customers

- Other establishments have more customers than the business has, especially

since the Daily Kneads are new to the existing food business. The

competitors currently have a large number of consumers since they are well-

known, but we ensure that we establish a technique to like or attract more

customers and that they thoroughly enjoy our products, particularly the

excellent taste, and that they will return to where the business, which is The

Daily Kneads, is located.

2. Highly skilled labor or employee

UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR. SANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

- Other food businesses are long in service, and they will never be long in

service if they do not have a skilled employee; a skilled employee can

produce a large amount of product in a short period. Our company is just

getting started, so we are just starting to learn the baking industry, our

competitors have an advantage because they have experience and their

bakers have baking skills.

3. Have Brand Reputation

- A strong brand reputation can give competitors an edge in the market. They

have a strong brand reputation that fosters consumer loyalty and boosts trust

in your company and goods, which eventually boosts their sales and improves

their bottom line.

COMPETITORS WEAKNESSES

1. Lack of unique and special goods

- A unique product will help a business stand out, but it’s not enough to make a

product successful. In the business world, there is a lot of competition. The more

common your products are in an area, the smaller your chances are of

succeeding. Coming up with unique ideas is essential to stand out from the

crowd. If a business fails to do this, they will easily have their customers taken

away by larger, well-known companies.

2. Lack of selling strategies

- Sales strategy enables you to prioritize and engage with potential customers. It

also walks you down the path of developing different selling models to reach

each potential customer. If you lack selling strategies, you can lose your money
UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR. SANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

or capital in the business. One should know the features and benefits of your

product or service.

3. Lack of Social Interaction

- Our competitors have an actual bakery store where customers can purchase their

baked goods. The customer cannot contact them online or via text to reserve

baked goods, and they cannot deliver baked goods to the customer's home since

the customer will go to their store to pick up their purchased baked goods.

4. Wastage

- The competitors have actual bakery stores where they need to produce a lot of

baked goods every day with different types of baked goods so consumers can

choose whatever they want if they have a left baked goods that customers did

not buy they just put them in a trash or take them home by the employee

because they will never use it for tomorrow to be offered. It means that it could

have an impact on their monthly profit.

COMPETITIVE STRATEGY

The Daily Kneads will charge a fair fee for its product. The shop will charge a

minimum price of 100 to 150 PHP for each box. The client pricing is sensitive because, as

indicated before, they are not only regular cookies and pandesal, but also have additional

certain flavors to them. Other companies' pricing may be cheaper or higher than ours, but

we can assure our customers that our price is appropriate for the product that will be

created by our company. The proposed firm aims to provide consumers with high-quality,

low-cost sweets as well as an additional source of income and good or excellent customer

service.
UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR. SANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

After three years of operation, the proponents want to increase the production of The Daily

Kneads. With positive evaluations and comments from the product, the predicted growth in

demand for the next few years is expected.

MARKETING STRATEGIES

PRODUCT STRATEGY

The proposed business’ competitors are baked products that are sold

individually or per packaging and their baked products are too expensive for some

people or cheaper for others but for only small amounts of pieces. Daily Kneads will

have a different version of the regular baked products. The ingredients used to make

the said product were like regular baked goods with additional toppings and flavors

formulated by the proponents. The Daily Kneads has a variety of baked products

including Ube-Cheese Pandesal and Cookies. The Daily Kneads offers scrumptious,

mouth-watering baked goods at an inexpensive price to quench your cravings. Daily

Kneads will be sold for a reasonable price, but the proponents ensure the aroma and

sweetness of the Daily Kneads in every bite. This product makes a promise to cookie

and bread lovers: anyone who buys The Daily Kneads will adore the new flavor of

their favorite baked goods. The product's proponents also predicted that many

ordinary people would love it. It can be served either cold or heated. The Daily

Kneads will be served fresh in a box with a ribbon wrapped around it and a thank

you tag on top, costing a minimum price of Php 100.00 - Php 150.00 containing

pieces of delicious baked goods depending on the individual’s chosen number of

pieces in one order.

UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR. SANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

PRICING STRATEGY

The Daily Kneads is expected to be offered for a minimum price of Php

100.00 to Php 150.00. The Daily Kneads have the quality and benefits that

encourage people to buy more because of their delightful and incredible taste. Given

the state of the local economy, the upper and middle classes will be content to

purchase a chosen number of pieces at a low price from a well box. Aside from its

good quality, it offers a wide range of options.

AMOUNT PRICE

EACH Php 28.00

4 Pieces Php 100.00

6 Pieces Php 150.00

8 Pieces Php 200.00

12 Pieces Php 300.00

The proponents will sell the product at the starting price of Php. 100.00 per box. In

the first year of operation, the proponents plan to increase the price of The Daily Kneads

depending on its demand in the following years.

DISTRIBUTION STRATEGY

The distribution route will be direct-to-consumer where the producer sells its

product directly to the consumers. There's also a personal connection that the owner

makes with each customer, utilizing a nice demeanor and a friendly expression to

keep customers coming back for more. This will assist the producer in determining

the kind of customer they have, making it simpler to acquire their habits.
UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR. SANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

PROMOTIONAL MIX STRATEGY

The Daily Kneads plans to use the following promotional elements:

● Sales Promotion. The business will offer several discounts for events such as

Valentine's, Christmas, New Year's, and the Daily Kneads Anniversary to

increase sales, encourage customer loyalty, or generate brand awareness.

● Personal Selling. The proponents will have face-to-face encounters with their

clients, which will assist them in convincing them to purchase the goods.

● Advertising. The Daily Kneads uses advertising by using online platforms by

putting up e-posters and content ads to promote the goods and services to

the target client and other consumers.

DIGITAL MARKETING STRATEGY

The Daily Kneads decided to use social media marketing like Facebook pages

and Instagram to advertise our food products. In this case, we can easily attract the

attention of our consumers or customers because most of us usually use social

media accounts.

Social Media - it is easy for consumers to receive information on or inquire

about your package design, pricing, and promotions before you go to market.

Facebook Page/Instagram - where artists, public figures, businesses,

brands, organizations, and nonprofits can connect with their fans or

customers.

country. Due to the increased demand for bakery products from the population in the

Philippines, the baking industry has grown, leading to it providing greater employment

opportunities both in the bakeries and in central management. It also promotes sustainable

development methods while providing tasty, reasonably priced, and high-quality bread and

pastries. Being a year-round business, it offers its rural workers respectable and productive

jobs, gives them enough money to help them out of poverty, sources its primary ingredients

locally, promotes economic growth, and donates pastries to the community to alleviate

hunger and achieve food security.

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

In The Daily Kneads, there are a wide variety of products and services that can be offered

to our customers. Here are some common examples of what the Daily Kneads offers, the

Ube-Cheese Pandesal which can be baked and sold in the bakery, and the Cookie. A variety

of cookies, including chocolate chip, oatmeal, sugar cookies, and macarons, can be baked

and sold in the Daily Kneads bakery.

In addition to products, bakeries may also offer services such as custom cookie orders,

wholesale supply to cafes or restaurants, and baking classes or workshops for customers to

learn baking techniques. It's important for a bakery to regularly update and diversify its

product offerings based on customer preferences and market trends. Providing high-quality

and freshly baked goods is key to attracting and retaining customers.

“NEW NORMAL” PROCEDURE

In the current "new normal" era, bakeries, like many other businesses, have

implemented certain procedures to prioritize the health and safety of both customers and

staff. Here are some common procedures you may find in a bakery:

1. Enhanced Sanitization: Bakeries have increased their cleaning and sanitization

practices. High-touch surfaces, such as countertops, display cases, and equipment,

are regularly cleaned and disinfected. Hand sanitizing stations are often available for

customers and staff.

2. Face Coverings: Staff members are typically required to wear face masks or

coverings to protect themselves and customers. Customers may also be encouraged

or required to wear masks while inside the bakery.

3. Contactless Ordering and Payment: Many bakeries have implemented contactless

ordering and payment options to minimize physical contact. This can include online

ordering, mobile apps, or contactless payment methods like tap-to-pay or mobile

wallets.

4. Grab-and-Go or Pre-Packaged Items: To reduce handling and potential

contamination, some bakeries have shifted to offering pre-packaged or grab-and-go

items. This allows customers to quickly select their desired baked goods without

prolonged contact with the products.

5. Employee Health Monitoring: Bakeries often implement health monitoring procedures

for staff, including temperature checks and regular health screenings. Employees

showing any symptoms of illness are typically required to stay home.

These procedures may vary depending on local regulations and guidelines. It's to

understand their specific protocols and any additional measures that are in place.

Remember, these procedures are in place to prioritize the health and safety of everyone

involved. By following these guidelines, we can all contribute to creating a safer

environment during these challenging times.

UTILITIES

Each business needs a considerable amount of electricity to run different tools,

gadgets, equipment, and machines these days. The manufacturing unit of a company needs

the most amount of electricity in this regard. Running water is a must for most businesses.

From a health and safety perspective, it is important to have access to water for first aid

and basic hygiene. Without them, no business, company, or office can run or operate.

Utility Cost Per Month Cost Per Year

Water Php 240.00 Php 2,880.00

WASTE DISPOSAL

Proper waste disposal is important in any bakery to maintain cleanliness, and

hygiene, and to comply with environmental regulations. Here are our common practices for

waste disposal in our bakery.

● Segregation: Start by segregating different types of waste. Separate organic waste

(such as food scraps, leftover dough, and expired ingredients) from non-organic

waste (such as packaging materials, plastics, and paper).

● Recycling: Identify recyclable materials like cardboard boxes, paper, and plastic

containers. Set up separate bins or designated areas to collect these recyclables.

Make sure to rinse and clean containers before recycling them.

UNIVERSITY OF SAINT ANTHONY
(DR. SANTIAGO G. ORTEGA MEMORIAL)
CITY OF IRIGA

● Reduce Packaging Waste: Minimize packaging waste by using eco-friendly and

sustainable packaging materials. Consider using biodegradable or compostable

packaging options to reduce environmental impact.

● Educate Staff: Train your bakery staff on proper waste disposal practices. Make sure

they understand the importance of segregating waste and following the established

waste management procedures.

By implementing these waste disposal practices, our bakery The Daily Kneads can

promote sustainability, reduce environmental impact, and maintain a clean and hygienic

bakery environment.
