IS TO INTRODUCE AND EXPLAIN JEAN
PIAGET'S THEORY OF COGNITIVE
DEVELOPMENT, GROUP 3 WILL PROVIDE
INSIGHTS AND DATA'S AS TO HOW JEAN
PIAGET'S SYSTEM WORKS.
INTRODUCTION

JEAN PIAGET'S THEORY OF COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT-

refers to the ability to learn or understand from experience,
to acquire knowledge and retain certain knowledge. To
respond to a new situation and to Solve Certain Problems.

According to Piaget humans need's to at least experience

or conquer 4 stages of cognitive development in order for
us to successfully manifest our ability to think.

STAGES OF COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT
INFANT (SENSORIMOTOR
STAGE) 0-2 Years

I t is the stage where we practice learning

through our senses what our brains wants us
to see, hear, smell, taste and touch, using
this reflex behaviors we develop habits. for
examples are, baby sucking on their thumbs
enjoying rattles and parent's voices. As they
grow older they learn people are entities
separate from objects; primary refers to
activities related to a child's ow body while
circulatory reaction shows repetition of
behaviors also a key milestone would be the
development of working memory or In
Piaget's term we call it our realization of
"OBJECT PERMANENCE"

- invents new means and is able to think through truth through physical properties changed and
actions or mentally project solutions to a problem. Reversibility ( Ability to retrace their steps) for example
- relearning on a conceptual level, some lessons would be putting the same amount of water but to a

objects; draw conclusions only from obvious facts that longer has more.
they see. - They love to play pretend (Role fantasy)
- Remains egocentric – as they only perceive the world - Assimilation ( Taking in information and changing it to
through their point of view. fix their existing ideas.
