School Message

Students explore Thinking, Communicating, and Personal/Social Core Competencies throughout the curriculum.
Ask your child about their self- reflection on the Core Competencies as well as about their personal goal(s) that
they have set for themselves this year. Please note that there is no longer a Work Ethic mark (G/S/N). These
comments are reported in the teacher comments.

FOOD STUDIES 9 Term: PROFICIENT

Final: PROFICIENT
M. Borovickic

Kezia exemplifies proficient knife safety and cutting skills. She can improve by reading and following recipe
instructions more carefully before beginning to cook. Kezia demonstrates responsibility by applying effort to
understanding and completing class work. Kezia has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) but is being assessed
on grade-level Learning Standards and only requires the Universal Supports available to all students in my
classroom.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS 9 Term: PROFICIENT

E. Weidner

Kezia is nice to have in class. Kezia works hard on tasks and completes them to the best of their ability. Kezia's
reading comprehension is at a developing level and their written expression is at a proficient level. One way Kezia
can work to improve their reading comprehension is to read as much as possible. In addition, Kezia can work to
use active reading strategies like predicting, questioning, summarizing, making connections, inferring, and
evaluating during the reading process. Kezia is assessed on grade-level Learning Standards and reflects progress
with access to the supports as noted in the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP). See IEP for more details.

BAND 9

J. Saunders

Students who are taking linear music courses at RSS will only receive a summative grade in terms 2 & 4. This is
due to the limited amount of time we have worked together since September. At this time, Kezia's work ethic has
been good. I appreciate your efforts in class, especially on an older instrument. Practicing at home will certainly
help you be a more confident player.

CONCERT CHOIR 9

J. Saunders

Students who are taking linear music courses at RSS will only receive a summative grade in terms 2 & 4. This is
due to the limited amount of time we have worked together since September. At this time, Kezia's work ethic has
been largely unsatisfactory, due to their lack of attendance. If you could help them get to rehearsals on Tuesday
mornings and Thursday afternoons that would be much appreciated.

SCIENCE 9 Term: DEVELOPING

S. Vicaretti

Kezia is a bright, funny, and kind student. This term Kezia has demonstrated a developing understanding of the
prescribed learning outcomes. Kezia is showing their understanding with increasing confidence and consistency,
but still requires support in order to do so. Kezia has demonstrated strength in their ability to work independently
when learning new concepts and advocates for their learning by asking clarifying questions. Kezia's work ethic has
been satisfactory this term. Kezia sometimes struggles to keep track of assignments and needs reminders to stay
on-task during lessons. I encourage Kezia to use their class time wisely in order to complete assignments to the
best of their ability and to hand in projects on-time. I look forward to continuing to learn alongside Kezia in Term
2. Kezia has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) but is being assessed on grade-level Learning Standards and
only requires the Universal Supports available to all students in my classroom.

SOCIAL STUDIES 9 Term: DEVELOPING

K. Kenzie

You are showing a good understanding of content so far and completing most tasks and assignments as
instructed. You are capable of making strong connections and observations about the content we discuss and you
are showing growth in your ability to evaluate significance and take historical perspective. To continue improving,
I encourage you to work on staying on task in lesson, carefully listening to instruction, and asking for support if
you are struggling to complete work.

This student has an IEP, but is being assessed at grade level and supported by universal adaptations.
