CONNECTING THE SUZI BETWEEN TRUCK AND TRAILER

The truck and Trailer combination has air brakes, there is front and rear brakes on the truck and the trailer has brakes on the axles.
There are different types of trailers and different methods of coupling the trailer to the truck but all trailers are articulated, this is the reason for the air connection between
the truck and trailer being flexible.
The Suzi hose connects the air system between the truck to trailer. When the truck is separated from the trailer the air in the brake system for both the truck and trailer
must be sealed off so that the truck has brakes and the trailer has a hand brake.

Yellow suzi is the service line and Red suzi is the emergency line . Air is produced by a compressor fitted to the truck engine, the yellow suzi or service line carries the air
from the truck to the air tanks on the trailer. Trailer tanks supply air to the various air valves in the trailer brake system and to the brake chambers on axles.

The red suzi is the emergency air supply to the trailer control valve this valve regulates the air flow on the trailer, when the air flow is interrupted in the service line the
valve redirects the air in the trailer brake system to the red or emergency line, this line also connect the air for the hand brake.

The suzi, the truck, and trailer is connected with F&J couplings. These connectors allow air flow between the truck and the trailer and also shuts off the air flow

CJ03240 Male Coupling - one end of yellow suzi and connects to the female on the truck, and one end of red suzi and connects to the female on the trailer

CJ03239 Female coupling is combined with CJ01411 Striker / Operating Plug, the combination CJ06704 screws onto the other end of the yellow suzi which connects to
the male coupling on the trailer, and screws onto the other end of the red suzi that connects to the male on the truck

CJ03239 Female coupling is combined with CJ03241 Short Stem Valve, the combination CJ06711 screws onto the Service Line Bulkhead Pipe Fitting on the truck - also
the connection onto the Front Plate Emergency Pipe Fitting on the trailer

CJ03240 Male coupling is combined with CJ03242 Long Stem Valve, the combination CJ06712 screws onto the Service Line Front Plate Pipe Fitting on the trailer, and
the connection onto the Bulk Head Emergency Pipe Fitting on the truck
