The researchers utilized the qualitative method which entails the use of
interview and thematic analysis
The participants of this research study were the four (4) teachers, (2) students
from grade 5 to grade 6 and four (4) parents from the Parents Teachers Association
(PTA) and Board of Directors (BOD) for a total of 10 participants. The teachers and
parents were the ones actively involved in the Project I KONEK MO and they were
randomly selected. Likewise, the students were also randomly selected.
The researchers used the In-Depth Interview (IDI) as a method of gathering
qualitative data from the participants. Thus, an interview guide was crafted in
accordance to the research questions. It was validated by the Division Research
Management Team.
Thematic Content Analysis was utilized to analyze data collected from the
interview to determine the experiences of the different stakeholders involved in the
Project I KONEK MO, the impact on the availability of P2P internet connection to the
teachers and students in school, and the important lessons they have learned from the
implementation of the project
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Based on Table 1, the parents who were involved in the actual implementation
of the Project I KONEK MO have experienced two things: they have shown commitment
to perform the assigned tasks and support each other. In the initiation phase, the whole
team was able to identify the different important things to do and each of these tasks
was assigned to different committees or members. As such, being able to perform the
assigned task is the result of commitment and having ownership to the project.
It can be said that the P2P Internet Connection in school is really of big
help in the school. In fact, the Department of Education has its plan to provide every
school in the country with internet connectivity as part of its commitment to
continuously improve teaching and learning processes for the benefit of our learners.
The internet connection in school through partnership is a result of the joint efforts
and collaboration with the schools’ stakeholders is in response to keep up with the
world outside and to further capacitate our teaching and non-teaching school
personnel.
Therefore, it is imperative for us school leaders to tap the potential of our
stakeholders as our partners in directly addressing the different concerns and needs
of the school to continuously improve teaching and learning processes for the benefit
of our Filipino learners.
PLANS FOR DISSEMINATION AND UTILIZATION
The results of this action research will be disseminated in school and in the
district levels. It will also be presented in the division research colloquium and in the
regional research congress. For wider reach and utilization it will also be
disseminated thru social media and uploaded to the DepEd E Saliksik Research
Portal.
Specifically, the findings of this study and its intervention will serve as
basis for formulating policies and guidelines in support to DepEd internet
connectivity project to all public schools nationwide. School heads may adopt and
modify this intervention suited to the needs of their teachers, non-teaching
personnel and learners.
