SCRIPT FOR SPEAKING TEST 3

LEVELS 3 – 5
PART I: SOCIAL INTERACTION (~ 3 mins)
Examiner speaking: Hello, this is the English proficiency test - the speaking test,
levels 3 to 5. The speaking test consists of three parts.
The first part is social interaction. In this part, I will ask you questions about you and
everyday situations, such as work, hobbies and family.
The second part is solution discussion. In the second part, you will be given a
situation with three options. You have to choose one and explain your choice.
The third part is topic development. In this part, you will first have a talk on a given
topic, then you will have to answer follow-up questions.
Now, the test begins.
Let’s talk about music.
Examiner speaking: Do you like music? If yes, what kind of music do you like best?
Why? If no, why not?
Examiner speaking: What is the most popular kind of music in your country?
Examiner speaking: How is music good or not good for people?
Alright. Thank you.
Now, let’s talk about English as a school subject.
Examiner speaking: Did you learn English at secondary school?
Examiner speaking: What do you think about how English is taught at school now?
Examiner speaking: In what ways has children’s English much improved nowadays?
Part II: SOLUTION DISCUSSION (~ 4 mins)
Examiner speaking: Alright. Thank you. That is the end of Part I. Now let's move to
Part II. In this part of the speaking test, you will be given a situation with THREE
options. You have to choose ONE to argue on. You will have to say which option you
will follow and explain why. You will also have to say why you haven't chosen the
other two options. You have ONE minute to prepare your talk and TWO minutes to
talk. Here is the situation.

Situation: An optional subject will be added to the curriculum for


secondary students in your city. Three options are suggested:

- photograph

- swimming

- dancing

Which do you think is the best option for secondary students?


Part III: TOPIC DEVELOPMENT (~ 5 mins)
Examiner speaking: Alright. Thank you. That is the end of Part II. Now let's move to
Part III.
In this part of the speaking test, you will have to present on a topic that you will see in
the outline below. After your presentation, you will be asked THREE follow-up
questions related to the topic. You have ONE minute to prepare and THREE minutes
to complete this part. Here is the outline of the topic.
