Read the following story, underline the unknown words, and try to guess their meaning.

ON VACATION IN CARTAGENA

Hello mother! This is Jaime, and I’m writing you this time from our
hotel to tell you about our vacation in Cartagena de Indias in Colombia.

My whole family is with me and we even brought our dog.

The weather isn’t very good today, in fact, it’s rather cold and cloudy.
The children are in their room playing cards and watching TV. Right now, it’s very wet and rainy.

My wife is in the restaurant eating lunch, but the food

here is very expensive, and it isn’t very good.

Our hotel room is nice. In spite of the broken bathroom

window, it’s air conditioned, has two beds, and a big flat
TV screen.

People from the hotel are saying that the weather is

uncertain because sometimes it’s sunny, cloudy, windy,
or rainy. We’re waiting to go to the beach.

Ok mom! I’m going to the beach with my children now

because the weather is changing for the better, and the sun finally came
out.

See you soon.

Love, Jaime.

TOURISM PLANS

Welcome to our travel agency, we are the number one travel agency
in our country and we offer many touristic sites all over the world.

We currently have 1 cheap tour which goes to San Andres’ Island in

Colombia. San Andres is a picturesque island, with beautiful beaches
and friendly people.

Most days in San Andres are sunny; however, there are some rainy days as well, but this is the
summer time so the rainy days are seldom.

You can stay in our big new hotel called “Paradise” for 4 days and 3 nights all inclusive. The
hotel has more than 200 hundred rooms, there’s a flat screen TV, and there are 2 beds in each
bedroom. There’s a nice balcony with ocean view.

There are 4 big swimming pools at the hotel as well as 3 restaurants with free food all the time.
There’s a big gym with 5 personal trainers, and there are more than 30 different machines to
use.

In front of the hotel is a long beach, and next to our hotel there are different clubs and casinos.
Around the corner, there’s a new supermarket and a big shopping mall with hundreds of stores.

I’m at one of the tables with my father, my mother, my aunt Luz, her husband William,

is my favorite cousin. We play together when she comes to my house during the
weekends. We like to sing English songs together.

Today my father wants to eat Mexican food, he enjoys eating this type of food,
and his favorite being “Tacos”, He doesn’t like spicy food most of the time, and
