Spindle:-
A Spindle is a physical hard disk. Disk Group. A Disk Group is
a set of physical hard disks (or spindles) that are grouped into a
disk array. See section RAID levels overview, for details about
disk arrays.
Actuator:-
An actuator is often part of a computer control system. The
actuator is a mechanical device or motor which carries out
the action or decision made by the control system. For
example the lens of this digital camera moves in and out
according to how much zoom is wanted. This movement is
controlled by an 'actuator'.
Head:-
A read/write head or RW head is a device on the arm of a
hard drive. It reads and writes data from the hard drive's
disk platter. Hard drives usually have one read/write head
for each platter side that resides on the platter while idle.
Actuator Arm:-
The access arm is directed by instructions in the operating
system to move the head to a specific track, and the
rotation of the platter positions it over the required sector.
Also called an "actuator arm" because the actuator is the
motor and mechanism that moves the arm.
Actuator Axis:-
The actuator axis is the central point of the assembly. A
motor rotates the axis to send the actuator heads to the
appropriate part of the platters, allowing the device to read
and write data.
1. Power Connector
2. Jumper Block
3. IDE Connector
1) Power Connector :-
The SATA 15-pin power supply connector is one of the standard
peripheral power connectors in computers. It's the standard
connector for all SATA-based hard drives and optical drives.
SATA power cables protrude from the power supply unit and are
meant to reside only inside the computer case.
2) Jumper Block :-
Jumpers allow the computer to close an electrical circuit,
allowing the electricity to flow on a circuit board and perform
a function. Jumpers consist of small pins that can be
covered with a small plastic box (jumper block), as shown in
the illustration.
3) IDE Connector :-
Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) : IDE is an interface
standard introduced in the year 1986. It is for connection of
storages devices such as Hard Disk Drives (HDD), Solid
State Drives (SSD) and CD/DVD drives to the computer. In
IDE data transfer speed ranges from 100 MB/s to 133
MB/s. It is a parallel connector.
