I LEFT MY HEART IN TACLOBAN CITY

This December 10, 2023 we went to Tacloban City, Leyte for an event held at our church. I
know that some of us have seen the San Juanico Bridge on TV screen or in pictures, which is
one of the longest bridges in the Philippines, most of us wants to come there, especially those
people from Samar. And the person who built this bridge was our former president, Ferdinand
Marcos Sr.
It hits different when you see it in person, you won’t just notice the bridge but you will also
notice the surroundings there. Just like the trees at the bottom of the bridge, wide and clean
river, and high mountains that surround it. So it’s inevitable that there are people who stop
there just to take pictures and also for memories. But that’s not the best part there.
I was amazed not only because of there longest bridge, but also because it reminiscing me my
other place which is Manila, from the buildings, and wide ways that needed traffic lights.
They also have what is called an over pass where people cross here for their safety, that the
same in Manila. One of the things that other samarañan wants to go there is one of the biggest
mall in Philippines, Robinson’s Mall. We all know that other part of Samar is there is no mall,
so they need to travel to areas that have malls.
The last things I like about Tacloban City is that even though there are so many people in the
street, they still maintain it not to be messy and their roads are not dirty, it’s very organized.
Most of the people that I have encountered there really make you feel welcome in their place,
the others tours to places you don’t know, and they won’t let you go hungry at all. So if there
is another chance I would like to come here again.
