    Implementation of Agency Banking

    Project/Task Description Cameroon is a heavily banked industry with 25 commercial banks all
    concentrated in urban centers. However, bank account penetration is quite low with just over 6 million
    accounts, much lower than telecom subscribers who are over 18 million. Also, the cost of expansion of
    branch network is very costly which could go as high as 500 - 900 million FCFA per branch. This
    raised the need to provide a solution “Agency banking”, which is quicker, cost effective and has a
    sustainable strategy for expansion to reach unbanked customers.
