 Q2: Use listening strategies based on purpose, familiarity with the topic and levels of difficulty of
short texts listened to. EN7LC-II-a-6

Activity:

Preparation: Teacher writes a numerical series of instructions, or “clues,” on small pieces of paper:
e.g., “look under the plant,” “check behind the door,” etc. All but the first clue should then be
hidden accordingly. In addition, the rewards should be hidden in the location specified by the final
clue.

Introduction : Teacher introduces new vocabulary related to directions and objects in the
classroom, demonstrating “turn left (right);” “look under the desk (bookshelf/chair);” “Look behind
the door (board/clock),” etc.

Practice Activity: Students work alone or in pairs. Each student or pair of students is given the first
“clue” from a set of clues and is asked to follow the instructions. If they follow them correctly, they
will discover their “treasure” at the end of the exercise.

Practice Activity : Students are given drawing materials, and the teacher gives directions such as
“draw a school on the left side of the paper;” “draw a street in the center of the paper;” “draw a
house on the right side of the street;” and so on.
