RATIONALE:

We live in an era of distortion. The propagation of diverse forms of misinformation across the internet
and social media make it difficult for the community to know where to look for factual information. The
Local Government Unit of Mayoyao needs a trusted platform to connect to its people. For this reason,
there is a need for an Information Officer to utilize such tools to be able to associate the municipal
government in building a relationship of trust to the community through strategic communication.

An Information Officer serves as a liaison for the Mayoyao Local Government Unit to the public on a
variety of topics. Since the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, there is a need for an Information
Officer to relay rightful information concerning updates on protocols related to contending the virus.
There is a necessity for a rapid and extensive dissemination of altering updates to guide the public in the
proper administration of rules concerning this current health crisis that we are all facing. There is a need
for relevant, adequate and timely information utilizing platforms such as social media and other online
tools to appropriately instruct the public in the right format at the right time to make the right decision,
such is the communications mission.

In addition to monitoring regional and national publication and keeping emergency and disaster
operations running smoothly by sharing critical data, an Information Officer also has an enormously vital
responsibility in collecting and sharing facts of the various programs, events or announcements of the
different offices or agencies of the Mayoyao LGU for public awareness.

Lastly, an Information Officer shall prepare the plans and all necessary mechanisms and programs relevant
to the performance of his or her duties to achieve these goals.
