I. OBJECTIVE
Content Standard:
The learner demonstrates understanding of human sexuality and managing sexuality
related issues for a healthy life.

Performance Standard:
The learner appropriately manages sexually related issues through
responsible and informed decisions.

Specific Objectives:
1. Identify the basic terms in sexuality (sex, sexuality, gender) and the dimensions of
human sexuality
2. Initiate programs that raise awareness of gender & sexual equality
3. Discuss sexuality as an important component of one’s personality

B. Introductory Divide into two groups. On the board let the groups write the task given to them.
Activity Group 1
Time Frame: 5 List differences between women and men and consider on what are these
mins. perceived differences based? (e.g. biological, social, cultural or religious
beliefs)

Group 2
List differences between women and men and consider on what are these
perceived differences based? (e.g. biological, social, cultural or religious
beliefs)

Then the teacher will ask the following questions.


1. How did you find the activity?
2. What did you discover about yourself as a woman and man?
3. How does this act. Help you understand your personality and sexuality?

C. Activity Read the following statements. Let each member of the group analyze their personal
Time Frame: stand on each item.
15 mins. 1. Teaching is a job for women.

3. Both men and women can be police officers.
4. It is the responsibility of both parents to take care of their children.
5. Both the father and the mother should share in meeting the financial

Component of One’s Personality
Sexuality is a natural and healthy part of life. It is everything about being a male or
female. It’s the most important aspect is masculine or feminine identification.
Sexuality involves the name given at birth, the toys played with, the clothes worn, the
friends played with, the roles and responsibilities at home, and it provides a sense of
self – worth when sexual understanding is positive.

Part I. WHAT TO KNOW


 Sex is a major aspect of personality. It is closely related to emotional and
social development and can be best understood by connecting it to the total
adjustment of the individual in the family and society. The process of sexual
development begins from birth to adulthood thus it is a continuous
developmental process throughout life.
 Sexuality means you have to be aware of yourself better. As you grow
older, you will experience a range of social, emotional, and physical
changes. As these occur, you need an intensive knowledge on how to deal
with your attitudes and behavior.
 Sexuality refers to your attitudes and behavior toward yourself

Below is a diagram showing health attitudes that can influence sexual behaviour.

 Gender and sexuality are two issues that affect your life as a teenager. These
two concepts have some of the greatest impact on how you view yourself and
deal with other people especially with the opposite sex. Sexual feelings are
normal and healthy. As a teen, you will experience a heightened desire to
explore your sexuality. This is completely normal and healthy. Just keep in
mind that sexuality encompasses our whole being.
 Managing sexuality-related issues should be founded on values particularly
self-respect and respect for others.
 Gender is a social concept on how men and women should think, feel, and
act. It refers to femininity or masculinity of a persons’ role and behaviour as
defined by society.
 Human sexuality is the quality of being male or female. It is the way in which
we experience and express ourselves as sexual beings.
 Sexuality can be best understood through the help of the people around
you.
 Sexuality refers to your perceptions, feelings, and behaviours towards others
 Sex – centred on the biological basis of being a male or female.
 Gender – is a social concept on how men and women should think, feel, and
act. It refers to femininity or masculinity of a person’s role and behaviour.
 Gender Equality– permits man and woman equal enjoyment of human rights.
 The purpose of gender and human sexuality education is to promote
wholesome family and interpersonal relationships. It aims to provide you
with the knowledge and skills needed to establish and practice healthful
behaviours. Finally, it aims to produce students like you who can take
responsibility for sexual health.
 Effective sexuality education can provide you with culturally relevant and
scientifically accurate information that includes opportunity to explore
attitudes, values, and life skills to be able to make informed choices about
sexuality.

 Social self- the way you interact with others
 Emotional self- the way you value your relationships
Through the picture brought by each of the students they will explain and
identify which is the pictures that shows physical, mental, social, emotional
and ethical to their partner and vice-versa.
 Healthy sexuality encompasses the following characteristics:
 SELF-LOVE - your acceptance of yourself
 SELF-KNOWLEDGE - your understanding of your feelings and your
character
 SELF-CONFIDENCE- your awareness of the things that you can do well
 SELF-RESPECT- your regard for yourself as a worthwhile person
 SELF-EXPERESSION- your way of showing your individuality in
expressing yourself as a man or as a woman.
 Bear in mind that learning human sexuality is important because …
 giving and receiving love is a human need.
 it will help you appreciate your sexual identity.
 you should respect your own and another person’s body.
 you will experience bodily changes and you need to learn how to properly
manage these changes.
 it will help you appreciate how life began.
you have the right to be informed on how to be disease-free and to live a healthy lifestyle.

Time Frame: The class will be group into five. Each group will create a short advertisement that
