SOLAR POWERED INCUBATOR SYSTEM

3 BSABE - B

Harnessing the power of the sun seeks to revolutionize the traditional methods of egg
incubation and hatchery ensuring optimal condition for healthy embryo development and successful
hatching. This solar powered machine project aimed at utilizing clean and sustainable energy sources to
enhance efficiency and effectiveness in poultry farming.

The process involves series of procedure to successfully incubate and hatch eggs. The eggs are
maintained at right condition to provide proper growth of embryo. Regular monitoring and adjustments
of temperature and humidity levels are performed and eventually eggs will undergo hatching process.

This solar powered incubator and hatchery will improve existing methods by utilizing renewable
energy sources, reducing dependency on conventional power grids, ensuring consistent and cost-
effective operations. Whereas traditional incubators and hatchers heavily rely on fossil fuels or electricity
from the grid, contributing to carbon emission and dependence on non-renewable resources. This
project mitigates environmental concern, optimizing the incubation and hatching processes by
controlling temperature and humidity levels, ensuring the viability and growth of eggs.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

As we can see in our data, the temperature inside of our incubator is constantly revolving around
37.5˚ C from 2:34 pm to 6:13 am the next day. The temperature got rise from 38˚ C at 7:13 am and
continuously rising that it reached up to 51.75˚ C at 9:28 am. After this, the temperature did not go
beyond 40˚ C until 2:43 pm. This is because the ambient temperature outside the incubator system
reached almost 38˚ C and also the location of our incubator added the factor on increasing its
temperature since we placed it inside a Greenhouse which allows heat to enter and traps it inside.

CONCLUSION

An evaluation of the incubator was conducted in which it was placed inside a greenhouse. The
purpose was to observe how the incubator works to determine if it will achieve the given temperature
when incubating an egg. The results of the experiment lead to the conclusion that the incubator system
can be similar to the second law of thermodynamics. The law states that “entropy always increases.” It
underscores the inherent directionality of physical processes, emphasizing the tendency toward
increased entropy as a fundamental characteristic of closed systems. The continuous increase in
temperature observed in an incubator placed in a greenhouse is primarily attributed to the combined
effects of the greenhouse environment and the heat generated by the incubator itself. This phenomenon
aligns with fundamental thermodynamic principles, particularly the second law, which guides the
directionality of heat transfer. The greenhouse provides a conducive environment for temperature
elevation, creating conditions ideal for the sustained increase observed in the incubator. The incubator
can be dependent on an outside source of heat since the PTC is off as it exceeds the temperature range
of the incubator. Since it is a closed system, the heat transfers are effectively constant inside the system,
allowing the temperature trapped inside to increase over time by the ambient temperature. In contrast,
if we place the incubator at a normal temperature, the output can be literally applicable for incubating
an egg at any given time and day.
