Care needs to be taken when working near gas mains for obvious reasons.
Your supervisor should have checked with the gas company where the services should approximately run on
the site.
The following points should be followed when excavating near a gas main:
 Remember that Gas Mains have a flammable and explosive content.
 Before digging, check the Gas Company's plans.
 Dig carefully by hand.
 Establish the location of the pipes.
ENG  Work with care and do not create a situation where joints may be strained.
 If the pipe has to be supported, ask to be briefed on the Gas company' s requirements before starting
work.
 Check the risk assessment to establish whether the excavation is classed as a confined space and work
accordingly
 At the slightest hint of gas escape, leave the excavation and prevent anyone going near it. No lights
must be allowed. Have the Gas Company's Emergency Service called at once.
 Never use a gas main as a hand or foot hold.
 Do not drop tools or other weights onto mains, as many old mains are of cast iron and may crack if
they are in poor condition.
 Modern, smaller diameter house mains are often plastic - do not confuse them with electric cables.
 Gas company' s have precise specifications in relation to back-filling round mains. Make sure you
have been properly instructed in this respect.

Următoarele puncte trebuie respectate atunci când excavați lângă un traseu de gaz:

• Sapati manual si cu atentie.
• Stabiliti locația conductelor.
• Lucrați cu grijă și nu creați o situație în care imbinarile pot fi tensionate.
• Dacă conducta va trebui sprijinita, vă rugăm să fiți informat cu privire la cerințele companiei de gaze
RO înainte de a începe lucrul.
• Verificați evaluarea riscurilor pentru a determina dacă excavarea este clasificată ca spațiu închis și
funcționează corespunzător
• La cel mai mic indiciu de scăpare a gazelor, lăsați săpăturile și împiedicați intrarea oricarei persoane in
zona. Nu trebuie folosite luminile. Se va chema de imediat Serviciul de urgență al Companiei de gaze.
• Nu folosiți niciodată o conducta de gaz ca suport pt mâini sau piciore.
• Nu scapati sculele sau alte greutăți pe conducte, deoarece multe rețele vechi sunt din fontă și se pot
fisura dacă sunt în stare defectuoasă.
• Conductele moderne,au diametre mai mici si sunt adesea din plastic - nu le confundați cu cabluri
electrice.
• Compania de gaze are specificații precise în ceea ce privește umplerea conductelor. Asigurați-vă că ați
fost instruiți corespunzător în acest sens.
