Contract Engineering Lead (HVAC chillers)

equipment design, manufacture, and operations? Are you looking to develop your expertise and
become part of building one of the largest, most complex projects in Europe?

If so, join us as a Contract Engineering Lead and you’ll join one of the most exciting and ambitious
projects within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.

The Opportunity...
At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear
power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

As a Contract Engineering Lead, you will be providing contractual and technical oversights of contracts,
including the management and coordination of Technical Engineering Leads (TEL) for each contract and
managing the resolution of open points related to Design, Manufacturing and Qualification. You’ll be
responsible for keeping the contract configuration compliant with the project progress.

You will be working closely with the relevant disciplines in Edvance UK and Edvance France but also with the
client and the suppliers to ensure the technical requirements are met.

This role sits within Edvance UK which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, an EPCC
established in 2018 in charge of the design (basic design) and the realization (studies, procurement,
erection, testing and commissioning) of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide. Spearhead
of the French nuclear industry, it aims through its objectives and challenges of economic competitiveness
and performance, to position itself sustainably in nuclear markets internationally and those of the renewal of
the French fleet.

Edvance is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome responsible for delivering the design for a number
of Nuclear Island buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the HPC project.

What you’ll be doing…


Leading contract technical and project meetings.
Completing technical surveillance and resolution of issues/queries respecting contractual deadlines.
Reviewing and approving contractor deliverables and design where necessary.
Controlling and managing the evolution of the contract and design changes.
Reviewing and approving contract amendments and exemptions (CTSs, ERs).
Managing contract TELs and associated delivery scope, including task prioritisation.
Resourcing and budgeting to ensure the requirements of the contract are met to time, cost, schedule,
and quality.
Liaising with RD and client teams to ensure integration of equipment with interfacing
functions/systems.
Liaising with RD and client management teams to communicate progress, risks, issues and planning
to support contract delivery.
Reporting of KPIs to management and other stakeholders.
Ensuring qualification activities are progressing accordingly to the contract progress and site needs.
Helping to upskill other members of the team,
Weekly technical meeting to discuss about technical issues.
Manufacturing meeting to follow the Delivery to Site for equipment.
Monthly meeting to have an overview concerning all parts (technical, planning, review, risks) for the
contract.
Meeting with site to be informed of technical issues.

Who you are…


Your background may include some of the following:
Master’s degree or equivalent in an Engineering or Scientific Discipline.
Knowledge of chiller equipment design, manufacture and operations.
Understanding of chiller interfaces (piping, layout, system, etc).
Contract management and documentary surveillance.
Experience of using change management, commercial and deliverable management systems.
Relevant experience in the nuclear industry.
Ability to effectively manage own workload in order to produce high quality documents and respect
deadlines.
Proactive and confident in communicating with others, particularly those based in remote offices
including France, Germany.
Proactive in developing positive working relations with others within the project.
