Background
Assessment Outline:
In the Adiabatic Reactor Experiment, we will add hydrogen peroxide or sodium thiosulphate to the system. The
impeller will then be activated, and we will wait for the temperature to reach and stabilize at the desired level.
Subsequently, using a funnel, the second reactant will be introduced, and we will wait until a steady-state is
attained. Concurrently, temperature readings will be taken. After appropriately disposing of and cleaning the
apparatus with deionized water, we will conduct an additional five experimental runs.
For the fixed bed catalytic reactor experiment, solutions will be ready according to the specifications in Table 1.
Employing the photometer and the solutions detailed in Tables 1 and 2, a calibration curve will be established. The
necessary steps for the indicator reaction in single-use cells will be executed for the indicator reactor solutions,
and the reaction will be repeated under various operating conditions. Upon activation, rinsing, and draining of the
unit, the saccharose solution (prepared in accordance with Table 1) will be added to duct tank B1. Adjusting the
feed pump speed to achieve the required flow rate, we will then activate the water pump, heater, and feed pump.
Upon initiating the feed pump, the start time will be recorded, and after a 30-minute wait, a sample will be
collected.
