1. GENERAL INFORMATION
Thank you for purchase “Aolong”brand Industrial NDT X-ray equipment. It is our honor to supply
you the good quality instruments with best after-sale service. “Aolong” Group is an advanced
technological NDT manufacture, and its products are used widely in Petroleum, chemical plant,
pressure vessel, Boiler, metallurgy, shipbuilding and so on.
2．SPEFICIATION DESCRIPTION
2.1.The feature of Industrial NDT X-ray equipment (with T4777 model console )
1 Anti-jamming strong which is suitable for the dynamo working together.
2 It can choose the expose parameter accurately by setting the press-button.
3 Has the delaying time function which makes the operator leave the dangerous radioactive
operating room when the X-ray unit generate the X-rays.
4 The high voltage risen and fallen smoothly which makes the X-ray generator work effectively.
5 According to 1:1 ratio of work and rest automatically, the longest exposed time is 5 minutes.
6 Warm up the X-ray unit by manual operation.
7 The complete protect measure and the protection function when there is over KV, over mA,
short mA, and over current, over temperature which avoid destroying the whole machine.
8 Exposing time and error code is displayed by counter.
9 The design of the structure is more reliable and reasonable and operate easily.

3.CONSTRUCTION
The whole x-ray unit is composed of console, X-ray generator, power cable, connection cable,
accessories and so on.
Notice: Don’t decompose the console and the X-ray generator by different models.
3.1. X-ray generator
X-ray generator is assembling construction-ray tube, H.V.transformer (Including filament winding of
tube) together with gas insulation (SF6) are sealed up in aluminum bucked cabinet.The cooling fan
and heat-sink is mounted in the end of X-ray generator as cooling device.

The x-ray generator should be placed horizontally and vertically by the two end-rings, which is used

3.3 Console
Control unit is the cabinet type construction. Four circuit panels and electronic devices are
composed of it . All operating buttons and switches are equipped on the panel. Power socket,
power switch and earth-terminal are set in the socket box on the side of control unit to make the
operation flexible

7 H.V On button ;
It is used to operate the exposing, training or close the machine
8 H.V. Off button;
It is used to stop the exposure and working of the whole machine.

It is used to choose the right exposure curve according to the object material tested.

3.4.Working theory
The control unit adopts silicon-controlled single-phase bridge rectifier. Rectified voltage changes
into smoothing D.C.voltage through LC filter loop, which changes into unidirectional pulse with
changeable frequency through silicon-controlled carrier loop, sent to H.V.pulse transformer as
supply of generator, Ma stabilization unit can rise or reduce with filament voltage of tube. Change
the frequency of unidirectional pulse to make tube current stable. Kv adjustment unit can adjust
continuously to meet with the different materials testing.

4.INSTALLATION
1 Verify all parts of unit depending on contents of box after open the packing box. Check all
parts which are not destroyed or broken .
2 Check the console and the X-ray generator should be the same model, or else the equipment
can’t be used.
3 Turn off power switch after placing control unit and connect power cable. Power supply should
conform to the request in “Technical parameter”
4 Connect one end of earth wire to earth-terminal on the control unit, the other end is
connected to damp place or specials earth wore.
5 Connect between control unit and generator with connecting cable, and ensure that
connected well.
6 Connect alarm lamp on generator to show generating X-ray.
7 X-ray protective installation is provided 2mm thickness lead-plate is protection for operating in
the field. If without conditions, can penetrate when there is no mA within radius 20m around the
center focus of generator.
8 Finish above, check whether pressure gauge of generator conform to request in technical
parameter, if not please do not to turn it on in order to avoid damaging generator.
5. OPERATION
5.1. Open.
After installation, confirm the connection is right, set the power switch; the LED (2) displayer is on.
5.1.1 .Check automatically
After open the machine ,the console do excise automatically firstly, at the same time the LED (2)
displays “Rd” & “--” alternately.

The following state is normal during the machine working
1 Preparing indicator lamp ,the H.V indicator lamp and the mA indicator lamp turn off.
2 The H.V.open button and H.V.close button can not be used.
The following state is not normal during the machine working
1 The LED (2) does not display “Rd” & “--” alternately.
2 The Buzzer is on non-stop.
Notice:Once there is any question, the operator should record the error code, and then close the
machine . Please contract with the manufacture directly .
If system is testing well, about after 30s, will display:
1 Preparing indicator lamp is on ;
2 The Buzzer is on (one or two).
3 The LED (2) display “XX” (X means 0~5 number )to proof the machine is ready to work.
5.2 .Exposing operating
After the above, the system is ready, the Preparing indicator light is on; the system will get into
setting parameter state.
5.2.1. setting exposing parameter
Before the exposing, should set the exposing parameter at first (the KV value and the exposing
time).
Setting the exposing time follow the step:
A. Confirm the material and its thickness of the object tested .
B. Work out the thickness of the object tested compared with the A3 steel thickness to choose the
right exposure curve .
C. According to the exposing curve to confirm the KV and the exposing time.

Notice: Because of the difference function of the difference model x-ray generator, the exposing
curve may be not the best reference to the operating, the operator should confirm the best state
for your equipment according the operating condition.
(1).How to adjust the KV value
Turn the “H.V.seting” switch by the clockwise or anticlockwise, get the KV value position according
to exposing curve. And Turning the switch clockwise will increase, anticlockwise will reduce the KV.
KV is opposite with the model of the equipment, the KV of the console and the X-ray generator is:
1005 model: 60~100 KV 1605 model: 80~160 KV
2005 model: 100~200 KV 2505 model: 150~250 KV
3005 model: 170~300 KV 3505 model: 180~350 KV

(2). How to adjust the exposing time
Use the “timer” switch and the “LED (2)” to set the exposing time.
1 Turn the “Timer” switch clockwise or anticlockwise, and the “LED (2)” will increase or reduce
accordingly.
2 The left position of the “LED (2)” is “second” and the right position is 1/10 “minute” is the
multiple Of 6 seconds, for example “4.5” means that the exposing time is 4′30″ .
3 The exposing time of the T4777 model console is from 0.1~5 minutes, and increase or reduce
by 0.1 minute step.
5.2.2.Start-up exposing
After confirm the KV value and the exposing time is okay ,press“H.V.opening”switch.It is end.
5.2.3.Exposing process
It include 3 start-up ,delaying time, exposing; resting total three (3) steps.
A. Delaying time
After press the “H.V. open” button, in order to make the operator leave the locale easily and safely,

before creating the x-ray, the system will delay 30 seconds automatically. Under the delaying time
phase, the displayer show the time, ,you will hear “tick, tick--------- ” the prompt voice ,the
operator may again press “H.V. opening ” to stop the delaying course ,enter the exposing course
straight .
B. Exposing
The system raises the tube KV, tube mA slowly to the setting value, and adopt the advanced
controlling method to adjust.
H.Voltage indicator light of console is blink, means that the x-ray generator is under H.V condition,
few minutes later the “mA indicator lamp ” is blink, means that the system is in exposing Phase.
When the remain time is “0” on the displayer, the system will cut off the H.V, getting into the resting
phase automatically.
If press the “H.V. closing” under the exposing phase, the system will stop the exposing, cut off the
H.V to get into the resting phase, the time is same with the H.V. time, then return to the setting
parameter state.
If there is some fault under the exposing, the console will cut off the H.V. immediately, at the same
time , the LED (2) will display the fault code , the buzzer is ringing non-stop until press the “H.V.
closing” switch..
C. Resting
After the exposing is over (or press the “H.V. close” switch to stop), the system will cut off the H.V.
automatically to rest, the time is same with the H.V. time, the resting phase is forced.
The display show the remain resting time value ,When the resting time is finished, the” Preparing
indicator light” is on, the buzzer have sound prompt, display show the exposing time, return to the
state of setting the exposing parameter automatically .

5.3. Training operating
The equipment should training In order to avoid the X-ray generator being damaged or shorten the
life.
Setting the training high voltage based practice use complexion,usually it little high than the high
voltage of exposing.the equipment is not setting automatic training,only manual training.
manual training means the operator trains equipment require to adjust KV advance set knob, the
training time will long ,if the equipment rest last time long. the equipment rests last about 40hs,
over 1 week or 15 days, even more training days needed ,here the training should adding unto 90
minutes.
5.4. Alarm protection
When x-ray generation crate x-ray under high voltage (no matter under exposing or training), the
system will surveillance the KV. mA.x-ray tube temperature of the x-ray generation, if there is over

mA, no mA, over temperature, the console will cut off the H.V. immediately, at the same time,
display the fault code on the LED (2), the buzzer will work constantly until press the “H.V. CLOSING ”
switch ,the following is the meaning of the fault code :
“HU”:Over high voltage fault
“HA”:Over mA fault
“LA”: Less mA fault
“PT”: Over temperature fault
Under the alarm condition, press the H.V. switch, the system will stop the working to have a rest.
The resting time is the same as the H.V.time, and then returns the exposing parameter setting state.
5.5. Turn off the machine
In order to ensure that the system can work well, the operator should cut off the power supply
under the setting parameter, forbidding to close under connect the X-ray generator with the H.V.
( during exposing or training, exclude the pause or the rest time ).
Notice :After the close the machine and should wait for 10 seconds and open it again .Or else it
will damage the component.

6. NOTES
1 Please make sure the grounding cable connecting very well .
2 If there are some noise from the X-ray generation inside during rising the H.V., the H.V. skip big
or other not normal things happen, the reason maybe come from x-ray tube discharge.It should
stop operating immediately.
3 The equipment should not work under or over the rated voltage.
4 Working time and rest time rate should be by 1:1,not cut power supply when rest to ensure
that cooling-fan works normally, Must rest the equipment as per the prescript,otherwise will lay
waste the equipment.
5 Power voltage vibration is large instantaneous, maybe protection circuit works, not belong to
the fault of equipment, continue to operation.
6 Want to lengthen connecting cable; section area of every wire inside cable is in line with
parameter in table.

7. MAINTIANANCE
1 The operator must be familiar with the structure and theory of X-ray machine
2 There must be the instruments and meters,tool and other instruments for inspection circuit
and other parts.
 Instrument and meters including : oscillograph, theostat, stabilized voltage supply,
multimeter, vacuum tester, Leak Detector for halogen.
 Tool including: necessary electronic meters , locksmith and so on.
 Facilities including: thermostat, vacuum air pump, gas loading device and SF6
3 Be careful for electric shock accident,and there must be safeguard procedures for X-ray harm
4 The equipment is complicated and the operating condition is strict. So in order to lengthen the
equipment, must give the best maintenance.
The working and storage place where there isn’t corrosive gases and the environment temperature
among-40℃~55℃,the rating humidity of the air ≤85%, the air should keep circulating , and the
floor should keep dry.
5 The maintenance of console
 The storage place should be clear ,dry and the rating humidity of the air ≤85% .
 Avoid acute shake and collision.
 Keep the environment clean, keep from dust, in order to avoid short circuit.
 During the operating, should notice whether the KV or the steady number is normal.
 During the operating, set the switch and the button gently.
 Should ensure that the cooling-fan works normally. after the operating, the switch
should set on the minimum.
6 The maintenance of the X-ray generation

 During the moving, avoiding shake and collision, and during the transporting, should
be upright transport or storage .
 The cable plug should be keep clean, dry.
 Forbidding working over 0.35p or lower than -30℃.
 Before open the machine, should check that whether the cooling-fan is normal, in
order to ensure the X-ray generation can be cooled ,or else do not use the machine
8. MESUREEMTN AND REPAIR

1 Before the measurement, the operator must assure that there is no damage of the surface of
x-ray machine If you need measure the console with power supply ,please care for electric
shock.The body and hand can not touch any parts with power open .
2 Firstly you should measure the console and connecting cable .If console and cables are not
broken,then connect the main machine to adjust the X-ray generator.
3 If there is something wrong with X-ray generator,and the operator wants to measure the it .You
should let the air insulated (SF6) out and make it to -0.1Mpa by vacuums. After staying it for 20
hour,you should open it.
4 Must take the air cooler of X-ray generator down ,then uncover the X-ray tube inserted.
5 Pay attention to it when uncover the X-ray tube inserted,must use the special tools.
6 After the x ray tube is taken off, loosen the screws around the generator barrel, lightly lift up
the barrel. Use an electric iron to weld off the tree lead-wires’ joints
7 Operator should wear radiation-proof clothes and caps, should be aware of the harm arising
by x ray tube’s self-exposure. Prepare a thick cloth bag to sheathe X-ray tube inserted.. Lift the
barrel, observing if there is any color change of X-ray tube inserted, sheathe the X-ray tube inserted
into the thick cloth bag, then weld off the connecting cable.

8 Carefully inspect the X-ray tube inserted if there is unusual color ,the fuse is broken ,the target
surface exits the oxidize trace ,there is a hole punched on the shell of tube.If one really exists,
indicate that there is something wrong with X-ray tube inserted .Must change new one.
9 The X-ray tube inserted replaced must be clear ,no dust.And dry it for 1 hour in the drying
cabinet.
10 Carefully measure the high voltage transformer if burn or puncture ,and if there is odor. If
there is really odor ,and we assure that there is something wrong with high voltage
transformer .Must change new one.
11 Must cost 48 hours to dry the new high voltage transformer replaced,keep temperature of the
drying cabinet at 100℃
12 Must cost 2 hours to vacuum the X-ray generator
13 Gas inflation for the X-ray generator with SF6 gas, fulfilling it to 0.45Mpa(20℃) .You should
change the Mpa value according to the temperature.
14 Finish gas inflation,make the marks (pressure value),and staying it steady for 12 hours.If
discover reduction voltage,please find the reason and resolve it and then have a test by power
supply.
15 When finish the inspection,operator must have a test for liability ,penetration , sensitivity and
others. Pay attention to accord to the “technology parameter” in manual and be in protective
working environment.

2744 and 2739,as the picture showing .

Please use the multimeter to the position as the picture show ,and testing the connection of 2
diodes .
If you get the “0”displaying on the screen and hear some warning voice , which mean the
diodes are broken .How to fix them ?
A . Change new one .
B. If you want to use the X-ray units urgently ,you can move this 2 diodes and make the console
work .

1.Oscillograph connecting and operation

Choose two cable core (marked “3”,”5 “) to connect with Oscillograph by two wires, the wire from 5
cable port must connect with anode(+) of Oscillograph,and other wire from 3 cable port must
connect with anode (-) of Oscillograph.

2. Faults analysis: It is very difficult to analyze the tube inserted is normal or broken.You should
prepare one ammeter for testing primary current(Use one wire from marked “5” cable port ,and
series connection with a ammeter whose measuring range is 10A for test the DC ). Or you can
connection a ammeter of mA (from marked “8” cable port ,the method is as the same as above but
the measuring range of ammeter is greater than 20mA)
If the primary current is very low, no mA, which display the lamp of tube inserted is
broken
If the primary current is high,no mA, which display the H.V coil is broken.
If the primary current is very high, mA＞5mA and increasing when the KV is raising,which
display the tube inserted is broken.
The better method is that you can use the pliers ammeter to test tube and coil.
