Two days advance notice will be submitted via RSS for approval to work inside KCRC boundaries and 2m beyond the nearest track line, Automatic Deformation Monitoring System Track settlement and differential cant on the railway usc an automatic on line deformation monitoring system (ADMS). Sol Data system has been used and approved by KCRC and MIRC for the monitoring of the MTRC Airport Express Line during the construction of the KCRC ‘West Rail Contract No. CC402 and TCC500. 4.3. 44. ‘An Automated Total Station will be mounted on the side of rails. The observation masts will be approximately 2.5 to 3.0 m above the track level. This will enable to measure the tracks more accurately and safely, and at 4-hours intervals prescribed in the specification. ‘A management system will automatically control the total station to measure prisms on the track sleepers and the over-head line masts, and calculate the relative movement in three axes OY, 2) It will also be able to calculate the tilt of the track and overhead line masts, This system minimizes the use of track possession and night surveying, and the time delay factors associated with a manual surveying method. This system also allows visualization of the data in near-real time on a computer screen, enabling the user to have a complete visual layout of the site movements, The system is described in greater detail in this document. Instruments ‘A motorized electronic total station, which includes a theodolite integrated with a CCD camera and an Electronic Distance Measuring device (EDM), as manufactured by Leica (TCA 2003). ‘A steel mast founded on an adequate foundation (Appendix E), on which the Theodolite is mounted. This will include the connection box with battery, battery charger and surge protection, ‘The deformation markers will be prism target types (Appendix F), mounted on steel ““L” angle frame that allows positioning of the required angle. These will be drilled and anchored on the sleepers at 2 or 3m centers staggered between the Up track and Down tracks of KCRC East Rail. The height of the prism and mounting bracket is sufficient not to be damaged or disturbed by passing trains. It means the top of the prism will be less than 25 mm above the track top level Installation ‘The installation of the Automatic Deformation Monitoring System deals with five Stages: ~The Total Station installation, ~ The automatic optical prisms installation on the track sides, = The manual deformation markers installation on the track sides and over-head masts, ~The electric cable and data cable connection boxes installation = The control room set up. Total Station ‘The Total Stations will be positioned on the side of rail track at the boundary of the KCRC East Railway line (refer to Appendix D). The positions will have been selected to encompass all the deformation markers (optical prisms) that have to be monitored as per the specification. It is envisaged that mini piles (Appendix E), approximately 140mm diameter and will act as the foundation for cach of the theodolites. These mini piles will be drilled to found in rock (2 meters into bedrock), sleeved and reinforced with dia.32mm grade 835/1030 DYWIDAG bar. The pile will be cement-grouted. - $ol Data ae ‘On top of the foundations will be constructed a concrete pad, on which a steel cage (a will be affixed to Dywidag bars. Both the reinforcement and stee! cage will be ended by a horizontal steel plate (20mm thick) welded and both steel plates will be bolted together as shown in Appendix E-6, On top of the foundations will be constructed a concrete pad, on which a steel cage (a will be affixed to Dywidag bars, Both the reinforcement and steel cage will be ended by a horizontal steel plate (20mm thick) welded and both steel plates will be bolted together as shown in Appendix E-6. On top of this mast the Theodolite will be mounted. The Theodolite will be covered with a steel plate over its top, to protect from sun, and other elements. All steel mast and protective cover will be white-painted. The Theodolite will be powered using a battery, which will be either be charged with a direct feed power cable, which will be connected to a battery charger, The battery charger will trickle charge the Theodolite battery, so that it can be used during the night. A stcel scaffold fixed assemble to the concrete pad will provide access to theodolite . This scaffold will contain the connection box to prevent any damaging from other part and will be locked. The top of this stecl scaffold will be used as platform to do any work on the Theodolite. ‘When work on the top carried out, safety belt fixed to a steel ring welded on the mast. The location of mini-pile and observation mast will be controlled by two restrictions, They shall be at a safe horizontal distance from the track of not less than 2m and a safe clearance of 2.75m from the high-voltage over-head lines, To ensure comply of these requirements, once the location has been set out, joint site inspection will be held by the Resident Site Supervisor and KCRC prior commencing of work. The mini-pile carrying out will follow the Method Statement for drilling rigs. View of top mast - Sol Data See Automatic Optical Prisms ‘The locations of the optical prisms will be set up on the sleepers and overhead line masts during the possession time, Optical Monitoring targets will be installed in the same manner as shown in Appendix . ‘The optical prism installed on the sleepers will be fixed using anchor bolt. A portable drilling machine (using battery) will be used to install the expandable anchor bolt. The anchor holes will be drilled and the brackets mounted. The prisms are then attached, rotated or angled so that the relevant Theodolite will be able to read the prism, Two optical prism will be installed 1m and 4m above the existing ground level on the over- head line masts within the monitoring zone using an appropriate metal glue (such as “Plastic, Padding” Chemical Metal), The prisms are then rotated, angled and attached so that the relevant Theodolite will be able to read the prism. Manual Deformation markers ‘The locations of the manual deformation markers will be sct up on the sleepers and overhead line masts during the possession time.
