F. TANEDO STREET
F Tanedo street is a bustling place in tarlac
where most of businesses are located and is
one of the busiest streets of the city. the
streetscapes of F. Tanedo is something left to
be desired as the streets are littered with
waste, sidewalks are poorly maintained,
inefficient parking spaces and pollution due to
lack of green spaces and numerous vehicular
smokes .

ZAMORA STREET
Zamora street is located between a business
area and the Tarlac State University where
traffic is constant due to narrow roads
combined with pedestrian’s such as students
of the university crossing to the other side of
the street not to mention having minimal
space for pedestrian walkways.

PROPOSED SOLUTIONS
The introduction of Greenery along the streets can
enhance the aesthetics and improve air quality of the
area.
Developing a network of bike lanes can encourage
cycling as a sustainable and healthy way of
transportation.
Implementing complete streets that accommodate all
,users, such as pedestrians, cyclists, and public transit,
promotes safety and accessibility.
Permeable pavements and sidewalks allow rainwater

to penetrate the soil, reducing groundwater and floods.

NINOY AQUINO BLVD.

Ninoy Aquino Blvd. is located at the side of the
tarlac river where businesses such as
supermarkets, fast food chains etc. are located. it
is also where the tarlac market is situated making
it one of the most busiest streets in tarlac city as
most of its residents obtain their daily resources.
having it close to the open market, wastes

are littered in the streets, not to mention the

towpath of the streets to the river can be a
potential of a good urban design for the city.

PROPOSED SOLUTIONS
Multi-use Path
Redesigning the towpath and providing
accessibility of the street to accommodate
various users, including pedestrians,
cyclists, joggers and create separate lanes
or zones for different user groups to
enhance safety.

Landscaping and Greenery:

Integrate native vegetation along the pathway
to enhance the natural beauty of the area and
provide trees for shading and benches to
improve the livability of the area and entice
the people to use the space.

Rest Areas and sustainable food stalls

Including strategically placed rest areas
and food stalls with benches or picnic
tables for the pedestrians and scenic
viewpoints or overlooks where users
can relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Landscape & Vegetation Preservation
Protecting the landscape and vegetation features of
Tarlac City requires a strategic and holistic approach
to urban planning and development.
Here are some key strategies for safeguarding and
enhancing the city's natural environment:

1. Conduct a Comprehensive Environmental

Assessment:
Undertake a thorough environmental impact
assessment to identify critical vegetation zones,
ecosystems, and sensitive areas within Tarlac City.
2. Implement Green Corridors:
Designate and protect green corridors connecting
parks, natural reserves, and other green spaces to
facilitate wildlife movement and maintain biodiversity.

3. Establish Buffer Zones:

Develop buffer zones around natural habitats to protect
them from urban encroachment and pollution.

4. Adopt Green Building Standards:

Encourage and enforce green building practices that
incorporate sustainable design, energy efficiency, and
green roofs to enhance urban vegetation.

5. Tree Preservation Policies:

Implement policies that protect mature trees, especially
those in public spaces and private properties, through
strict regulations on tree removal and transplanting.

6. Urban Reforestation Programs:

Initiate tree-planting programs and urban reforestation
projects to increase the city's green cover.

7. Native Plant Landscaping:

Promote the use of native plant species in landscaping
projects to support local ecosystems and enhance
resilience.
8. Green Infrastructure Planning:
Integrate green infrastructure elements such as green
roofs, permeable pavements, and rain gardens into
urban planning to manage stormwater and enhance
biodiversity.

ARCHITECTURE PROPOSAL 12
Landscape & Vegetation Preservation

prioritize the protection of natural landscapes,
restricting certain types of development in
environmentally sensitive areas.
13. Collaborate with Environmental Organizations:
Partner with local and national environmental
organizations to leverage expertise, funding,
and resources for conservation projects.
14. Monitor and Enforce Environmental Laws:
Strengthen the enforcement of existing
environmental laws and regulations to deter
illegal logging, land clearing, and other
activities that harm the natural environment.
15. Integrate Landscape Planning into Urban
Design:
Incorporate landscape planning principles into
urban design guidelines to ensure that new
developments harmonize with the existing natural
features of the city.

ARCHITECTURE PROPOSAL 13
Conclusion
This paper aims to identify approaches and recommendations to the planning and design of the
streetscapes in Tarlac City that would enable them to become physically attractive and safe streets
because people are engaged in these public spaces with various activities like walking, interaction
between people and vehicles, etc.

One method to create sustainable streetscapes is to realize sustainable cities. Therefore, following
sustainable streetscape principles to develop a sustainable streetscape— stormwater management,
using sustainable materials, dark skies and lighting, landscaping, and urban heat islands is
essential. According to the applied study, the investigation ends the plan for Tarlac City Street's
streetscape development into a sustainable streetscape.

Streetscapes is one of the most critical factors that would help the city's success. These
streetscapes are important in forming the visual image of sustainable cities.
