Give at least 20 electronic components, their symbols, functions, and pictures.

Name of Electronic
Symbol Function Sample Picture
Component
A resistor regulates the flow of
Resistor electrical current to avoid
burning the circuit.
A capacitor stores voltage and
can act as a battery when fully
Capacitor
charged though fully charging it
may take some time.
An inductor stores magnetic
energy when charged by
electrical energy. Its inductance
Inductor
is dependent on the number of
coils, the coil’s diameter, and
the material the coils are coiling.
A diode allows all current to
flow freely from anode to
Diode
cathode but blocks all current
flowing from cathode to anode.
An LED functions like diodes but
Light Emitting uses colored light to indicate
Diode (LED) that current is flowing through
them.
A Zener diode operates in its
reverse breakdown region to
Zener Diode
control the voltage across a
node in a circuit.
A transformer transfers the
Transformer current level of a circuit to
another circuit.
A BJT uses a small amount of
Bipolar Junction current to regulate large
Transistor (BJT) amounts of current across its
terminals.
Field Effect An FET uses a small amount of
Transistor (FET) voltage to regulate large
amounts of current across its
terminals.
An IC serves as a compact
electronic component storing
Integrated Circuit many combinations of
(IC) electronic components inside
(transistors, diodes, and
resistors).
An amplifier increases the
amplitude (max energy) of the
Amplifier
input by extracting energy from
outside the circuit.
A circuit breaker prevents short
circuits by detecting faulty
components and blocking the
Circuit Breaker
current from reaching the
sockets which can cause
disaster.
A fuse is a form of wire that self-
destructs when too much
Fuse current flows in it thus
preventing hazardous current
flow.
A motor converts electrical
energy into mechanical energy.
Motor Its parts generally include a
stator, conduit box, eye bolt,
rotor, enclosure, and bearings.
A TRIAC allows current to flow
on either direction. It is typically
TRIAC used to control the current in
devices that use AC (Ex: dim or
brighten; faster or slower).
A DC voltage source is typically
used to power gadgets such as
DC Voltage Source phones and appliances. Its
current always flows in a single
direction.
An AC voltage source is typically
used to supply electricity via
power lines to buildings and
AC Voltage Source
households. Its current flow
periodically reverses in
direction.
A push switch can allow or block
Button/Push current supply depending on
Switch whether the button is being
pushed or not.
A flick switch can allow or block
current supply depending on
whether it is in its “on” or “off”
Switch/Flick Switch
state which is determined by
the position of the switch’s
lever.
A wire connects electronic
components to each other. It is
Wire
almost impossible to find a
circuit without wires.
A pot has 3 terminals and acts
as a resistor that can vary its
resistance. It has a wiper that
can slide to distribute the
Potentiometer
resistance between its 2
(Pot)
terminals. One common
application of a pot is in
adjusting the volume of an
audio device.
A relay controls the current flow
Relay across a circuit when receiving
external low-power signals.
