This Post is for students who are studying in tier 3/Tier 4 engineering colleges and passionate
BSC,BCA,MCA students .Reading this Blog will definetely Give the right awareness .

The first question would come in your mind if I am from a college where I am anyways going
to get placed in TCS,CTS,WIPRO,Infosys,Accenture,Tech Mahendra ,Mind tree ,Capgemini,L&T
infotech ,Sageeza ,Virtusa etc etc in my final year as these are the only companies that visit me
.Why Do I even need to read this Blog ?

Please digest the fact that all these companies are not engineering companies in the first
place .This might actually shock you and make you think I am bluffing ,But this is the blatant
truth .Please read my answers in quora ,I write mainly about these companies and what exactly
happens in all these afforementioned companies and I have also Written Two Blogs previously
about the work culture In these companies .So If you have not read those answers and Blogs
to know the truth .I suggest you read those blogs so that you can prepare for the next
Important step ie: your career in engineering .

which are nothing But the above mentioned companies ,and Why cant i share positive things
only .So taking all such things in consideration ,I am Going to write only positive things in this
Blog so that Every such passionate CS students start Doing right things the right way ,so that
By the end of their final year ,they have a job which pays them 12–25 lakh per annum .And
such students start their life very happily in their Software engineering career.

These days In India we find people having taken engineering For granted .I have personally
seen lots of adult and senior adult people advising their Kids and their acquaintances like this
“ No Dont take engineering .You are only Going to waste your money and after 4 years ,You
will be Jobless sitting in your house ,Better would be to take any Arts degree and start
preparing For government exams “ .Such people dont have even the slightest clue that
software engineering has already started to rule the world .In our day to day lives everything is
becoming digital ,There are lots of probablities that paper currency will be replaced by digital
currency such as cryptocurrency or bitcoin .How is this all possible ?Because of advance
software computer technology .In our country DRDO and NASA are launching sophisticated
satellites .Because of such advanced softwares.There are thousands of examples which One
can state To prove that This is digital era and telling that engineering has lost its sheen or
value is nothing but pure ignorance and I kindly request students to never ever pay heed to

FRONT END DEVELOPER : A frontend could comprise of a Laptop, Desktop, Mobile

Web, Mobile Application (Android/iOS). Frontend is basically where the user gets an

parts:

1. Competitive programming : This is one of the of the very important ways to get
noticed by such companies . Almost all the major software engineering companies
mentioned above and like companies have their First round as programming round
only .You will be given one or two programming question which you have to code
and execute .You cannot code 70% of such programmimg questions without
having a strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures .This is the first
step which every programming aspirant must remember irrespective of his
college .Data structures and algorithms is like the heart and brain of Computer
science.The main reason why great techies have become famous and are attracting
users and customers is because of using such algorithms in a very optimised way,.All
tier 1 college students who are passionate for programming know this and prepare
rigourously on these subjects .,But such exposure is not available to other college
students ,But with the usage of Internet I hope in the coming years more and more
students get awareness of right things in the right way. What should i study for

How to practise?

If you are beginning with codeforces ,solve only division 3 and division 2A problems only for
3–4 months .These problems are very simple which requires basic mathematics and basic logic
to convert to code .During this time you can learn all the important algorithms and data
structures .After you have studied All important DS and algos ,Start participating in ALL
problems of division 2 and divsion 3 .Keep on doing Virtual participation and upsolve those
problems (practising all problems after contests).After you are participating and upsolving
,You will start to do both Divsion 3 and divsion 2 and keep on increasing points .It is very
important to partcipate in all contests as only during contests participation ,You will
learn time management and you will undesrtand memory limit all within the time
constraint.After Doing like this You can start participating in Division 1 problems and all
contests and try to increase Your points as much as you can so that you can become Purple
coder or yellow coder .The highest is getting red ,But even becoming a purple coder is itself
good

If you are participating in Codechef start with beginner problems and keep doing this and
then jump to problems of higher difficulty .It is very important to solve problems which are
little above your capacity .This is the best way to keep improving your coding skills.for
eg : if you solve problems of n complexity ,then from next time try to solve problems of n+1

like i Told in the previous points 30% ,You have totally completed 70% for your step towards a
successfull software engineering career .Now what to do for the rest .

3) Preparing resume or curriculum vitae : This is one of the most and very important
step which differentiates a skillfull going to be software engineering students to a
normal degree student .Whatever you have done those 4 years no matter how much you
made yourself skillfull and no matter you did the first (1) and (2) very perfectly ,But If you dont
prepare your resume well .Then There are lot of chances that you may not get the
desired tech you aspired .So You should prepare in your resume right from the end of your
third year VERY RELIGIOUSLY .I have seen IIT and IIIT hyderabad students preparing the best
resumes .

So after you have done all these steps ,You are 90% towards a successfull software engineer
.But you still have that 10% To go .Where does that 10% come ?? Obviously from your
communication skills .It is very important to know to express your knowledge and skills in
the right way .The interviewers dont expect you to have rocket high Fluency ,But You must
able to speak an english that is enough in expressing all whatever you have done 4 years .So
this 10% is now in your hands .Effective engllish communication DOES NOT mean knowing
spontaneous english .Just learning how to convey your knowledge is enough .You should
work on this if you are not fluent on this .

NO engineering students must ever take such certifications .These certifications dont
ever show that you are a skillfull computer programmer but nothing more than a
technician

2)Lots of small companies or consultancies actually tie up with private engineering colleges
and claims to teach current technologies like big data,cloud computing,machine
learning,deep learning and you must pay a huge amount for this ,at the end of the day,they
give you certifications .please remember today in internet all these courses are taught for
free in many online lecturers ,The certifications given by such companies are
COMPLETELY USELESS .Please do not waste your money and time like this .Companies
look ONLY FOR YOUR SKILLS in one such technology ,By seeing your projects .NO
companies need certifications.

3) Attending “In plant” training : Students who study in IIT and such colleges go for internship
in engineering companies which adds value to their resume ,and INPLANT TRAINING is not
Internship .In internship the company pays you ,Whereas in In plant training ,you visit some
local consultancies and get certification of attendance .Such certifications are pure joke ,and
they never ever add value to your resume.Internship is usually done by IIT and such college
students in Pure engineering companies like Google ,Facebook ,Microsoft etc etc and these
internships alone add value to your resume .Please dont ever ever waste your time in
attending In plant training

4) Dont write your resume like this “ Knowledge in MS-word ,MS-paint ,Knowledge of MS-
Photoshop ,Knowledge in MS-EXCEL” .Never write such things in your resume .You are
yourself giving a bad impression to the recruiters.

5) Dont waste your time learning every programming languages .It is enough You study two:
one C++ ,another Python or Java .I have seen lots of tier 3 college students who think
studying many is knowledge ,whereas the truth is knowing one and knowing to use this
one effectively is more than enough when you are in your student phase.

6) Dont waste your time attending only useless workshops organised by other college
students .While college life should be enjoyed and you can attend them ,But It is a wrong idea
to fill your resume ONLY with the number of workshops u attended .Adding the number of
workshops you attended is not the proof of skills

7) Do not waste your time preparing for quantitative aptitude,Verbal reasoning .Doing it
as a hobby is good ,But doing this to prepare SOLELY for any service based companies is a
BIG WASTE of your time.

8) I am assuming that you are studying engineering from a NON IIT,NON IIIT ,Non govt engg
college ,and you are in a college where you get placement from service based companies like
TCS,CTS,HCL,WIPRO,INFOSYS,ACCENTURE ,CAPGEMINI,MINDTREE etc etc .If you have
developed all the skills for the four years like is written above ,dont ever ever even sit for the
so called placements of these companies.These companies are service based companies
and you will end up wasting your time,age,career,youth.The placements conducted

NON BE CS/NON BTECH : If you are a student studying NON CS/NON IT and is not
interested in computer programming .I suggest you to Go for GATE exam and start
preparing for that Right from your second year very religiously so that with your
GATE scores you can enter navrathna companies like DRDO,BHEL,BEML,SAIL etc etc
Or go for IAS ,IPS ,SSC ,Bank PO etc etc if you are doing engineering just for a degree
and are not interested in any engineering companies .This is the perfect Option For
you.If you do not like any government Job but is interested in core sector ,Then you
can go for GRE/GMAT and try to enter USA,UK .There are many core companies for
non cs/non IT engineers like Nvidea ,Texas instruments ,Schlumburger,Lock heed
Martin.You can Try easily for these companies If you are doing MS from abroad .
