STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I am Pooja Rana; I have completed my 10th from Gujarat Secondary and Higher
Secondary Education Board (GSEB) in year 2012 and scored 97.92 Percentile Rank. I
have done my 12th from the same board in Science and scored 74.59 Percentile Rank in
year 2014. I studied subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and
Informatics practices. After completing my higher secondary education, I planned to
delve into my area of interest – Information Technology. This progression proved to be
fruitful as I thoroughly enjoyed my curriculum and I secured a CGPA of 8.01 in Bachelor
of Computer Engineering from Sabar Institute of Technology for Girls which completed
in 2018.

My interest in the field of computer science was sparked in school when we were shown
the video of Pranav Mistry who is currently the President and CEO of Samsung STAR
Labs. He is best known for his work on the Sixth Sense, Samsung Galaxy Gear and
Project Beyond. I was charmed by the potential of computer science which further
propelled my interest to develop a career in this field. I was also exposed to the many
technological developments through different seminars that I had attended in school
years. The inception of various technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine
Learning, Deep Learning, and Big Data is supported by programming languages such as
Python and also, web applications or websites including e-Commerce are supported by
Java, Dotnet, Ruby, Pearl, etc. I see tremendous opportunities in Interactive Intelligence
with machines that are possible only by educating machines with a large amount of data
from which machine can identify patterns and this is where Machine Learning plays an
important part. With products like Amazon Alexa and Google Home I firmly believe we
are in the age where interacting with machines is going to be more natural. It is the
beginning and I want to join the current as early as I can. Thus, I aspire to pursue a
graduate program in Wireless Telecommunication.

The undergraduate program in Computer Engineering introduced me to the core subjects

such as Advanced Java, DOTNET, Computer Programming and Utilization, Web
Technology, Object Oriented Programming with C++, Data Structures and Analysis and
Design of Algorithms. Also, as part of our Design Engineering subject, we had to work
on different projects which allowed me to implement my learned concepts into practical
assignments and efficiently solve problems by designing and creating technologies. In the
7th and 8th semesters, I worked on a project BE CLEAN. This project was based on
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.This portal was on PHP language that provides the base for this
campaigning. This portal is providing solution of street cleaning problem, water supply
issue, garbage collection problem, toilet cleaning problem in public places. Using this
portal any user can upload photographs and complain is forwarded to the nearest
corporation office. Corporation will solve these problems with in some time duration.
Using this portal, we can help government as well as society. These projects provided my
insights needed to understand and design any complex systems. I also learned the
importance of teamwork and effective communication.

In college, besides academic’s activities, I have participated in several co and

extracurricular activities like Treasure Hunt. I have also participated in competitions and
events such as Cyberhunt, Web Designing and ‘Ek Sawal Aur’ in GTU Tech Fest. I am
able to think out of the box for work and dedication to work is resulting increasing skills
and productivity. I have always preferred to work in groups and find that my
collaborative nature is one of my strongest attributes.

After completing B. E in Computer Engineering, I started took training certification

course in Python computer language for five months and completed a project on it. This
project was based on an Electronics E-Commerce Website. It is on Django framework. In
November,2019 I have started working in ITeration Technology as a Network Engineer
till present. I learned many technical skills in my work experience. I have completed
online course of Python (Datacamp), Git (Datacamp) and Google Cloud Platform
Fundaments: Core Infrastructure (Coursera).

WHYWIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATION?

When I started working in Python from that point, I became acquainted with about
Socket programming using Python in which I was intrigued. In this way, I discovered
myself keen on Networking. I know about Domain Services, OSI Model, TCP Layers,
SSH, UDP, STTP, FTP which are important for systems administration. I have
additionally worked on Network Automation Projects and Establishing Servers with the
help of Python. I have also done a mini project of creating an Nmap using python which
is very useful for Networking and Cyber Security. Humber school gives us 5G
Telecommunication stage that helps construct my profession in my intrigued field.
Wireless Telecommunication centers around three principle result: RF and Optical test
and measurement, IP addressing to and Networking, and troubleshooting of a wireless
protocols and systems. Besides, I will get an opportunity to learn on probably the best
and most recent hardware accessible in Humber School.

WHY CANADA?

It was fairly simple to pick Canada as the destination for my graduate study. After
spending my entire life in India, I was looking for a change in environment. I was
looking for a setting that provides quality education, has a diverse community and
provides myriads of opportunities to conduct research. Canada also ticks few other
boxes; United Nations has ranked Canada one of the best countries to live in due to its
relatively safe environment and during my time in Canada I aim to participate in as many
contests as I can, not just to win but to learn. I am extremely fascinated by the fact that
leading Canadian Universities and the Canadian Government are constantly investing
huge sums in technology projects to help better the lives of individuals.

POST STUDY PLAN

After completing this program, I will be able to Design, install and configure networks
using IP addressing schemes ensuring layer 3 connectivity between devices. And also,
Design, build and maintain RF (radio frequency), microwave and optical
communications systems to achieve user specifications. This course will open a lot of
gates for me as technology is advancing each and every day. Moreover, the 5G
technology will probably launch in India by 2021, and I feel there will be tremendous
opportunity for people like me who have knowledge of latest technology. Additionally,
the Multinational Companies (MNCs) require a lot of employees for different purposes
like specialized telecommunication and networking companies, sales departments, cell
phone service providers etc. I could be benefited by capturing such opportunities and this
course would play a key role in my life.

FINANCIAL STATUS

I have secured admission in Humber college for the program Wireless

Telecommunication for January 2021 intake. I have also paid the full tuition fees for my
entire program which is CAD 19,845. I have also made GIC into ICICI bank to CAD
10,015 which is sufficient to cover my living expense in Canada for my study permit
duration.

I understand that it is solely my responsibility to follow the rules and regulations of the
college as well as the laws of Canada. I ensure that I am a genuine student and this
program at Humber college will help me to achieve my career objectives.
