Statement of Purpose

MS in Computer Science

I was pretty interested in playing computer games when I first started my educational career in
school. I consequently became extremely curious about computers. Since I was a little child, my
teachers have always encouraged practical approaches to learning wherever it is possible. I was able
to visualise and analyse a variety of themes in various courses thanks to this, which helped me come
up with solutions that had appropriate justifications. My school has assisted me in improving my
knowledge of science from the very beginning through classroom instruction as well as participation
in various science and technology expos and festivals. 'Don Bosco Public School' is where I received
a 95% on my Secondary School Certificate in 2015. At Sri Chaitanya Junior College, Vijayawada, I
finished my 12th grade. I chose to major in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (MPC) since I was
really interested in those topics, and I received a 98% on my board examinations in 2017.

One of the most reputable institutes in India, Lovely Professional University, offered me a seat in the
Electronics and Communication Engineering programme. My time as a first-year student at this
university has helped me figure out my interests and acquire the knowledge and abilities I need to
pursue them. I became interested in data structures, operating systems, computer networks, and
database management systems around this time. Here is where I began my path to accomplishing my
objectives. My commitment to the material and enthusiasm for the disciplines allowed me to excel in
my undergraduate coursework, earning an overall CGPA of 8.46. My exposure to programming
languages like C++, Java, MySQL, and Python has also given me a strong foundation in a variety of
computer science topics that will be essential for success. I made a mini-IoT project during my
graduation period called the Temperature Monitoring System, which helped me understand topics
like C++ programming, sensor interfacing with microcontrollers, and web programming. In this
project, the temperature sensor is used to capture temperature data and then transmit those
measurements to a web application using an IOT module named NodeMCU. I participated in
training to learn data science during my graduation. I picked up a lot of new ideas throughout this
course, including those related to data mining, data warehouses, data visualisation, machine learning,
and natural language processing. This course primarily focuses on comprehending the client's
perspective on the business challenge and using data analytics and machine learning to resolve the
issue. I've developed story-telling abilities as well as business skills to think in terms of business and
product objectives, user-interaction considerations, and business goals in order to comprehend the
business challenge and deliver the answer for the clients.

From June 2021 until September 2021, I worked as an intern with Cognizant Technology Solutions
India Private Limited. I'd received training to become a full-stack developer. During training, I
picked up a few skills, primarily HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular, and SpringBoot. The Employee
Management System is a small web application I created that allows users to add, delete, update, and
display information about their employees. During my internship in full-stack development, I
developed an accessibility portal for end users that would allow them to add employee details to their
organisation in a faster and more secure manner. During this project's development, I have gone
through database management and learned about information storage and retrieval from databases
using SQL. The Angular framework was used for the front-end development, and SpringBoot was
used for the back-end. I mainly used Java and TypeScript for programming.

From October 2021 to February 2023, I was a specialist (verification engineer) for Infineon
Technologies. Working closely with the concept engineer to comprehend the functional and non-
functional needs of various electronic ID applications (such as payment, ePassport, eDriving, and
licence) is part of my responsibilities in this profession. In addition, I am in charge of test
development, automation, failure analysis, bug reporting, and creating reusable libraries to boost
productivity. In order to evaluate the functionalities in the operating system of smartcards during this
time, I built various test cases utilising software testing methodologies like black box testing with
automation. I also learned about secure messaging protocols, cryptography, authentication, and
numerous smart card applications (such as e-passports for payments and driving licences).

A master's degree in Computer Science from State University of New York at Binghamton is
something I'm highly interested in pursuing. The curriculum offers the chance to specifically focus
on a particular area of interest and earn a specialisation in addition to having core courses. It appears
that the M.S. in Computer Science is ideal for my requirements. I want to enroll in this course to gain
a thorough understanding of particular applications in my chosen fields and to realise some long-
cherished objectives. I am certain that State University of New York at Binghamton offers some of
the necessary specialisations, and I think it will give me the best platform to pursue my professional
goals in fields that interest me. As a dedicated individual, I am confident that I can handle the
demands of an international curriculum with ease and panache.

I want to picture myself working for renowned organisations as a professional after I finish my
master's. I'm hoping that by providing such a thorough statement of purpose, I'll be granted
admission to your programme and be given the chance to grow into a trustworthy professional. I'm
looking forward to a fruitful and exciting partnership with your prestigious university.

Respectfully,
Shushma Karnataka.
