Document 2: The Incredible Journey of Voyager 1

Launched by NASA on September 5, 1977, Voyager 1 is a space probe that has achieved several
remarkable milestones. Its primary mission was to study the outer Solar System and beyond. After
completing flybys of Jupiter and Saturn, Voyager 1 became the first human-made object to enter
interstellar space in 2012, crossing the boundary of our Solar System. Despite being millions of miles
away from Earth, Voyager 1 is still operational, communicating with scientists and sending valuable data
about the interstellar medium. It carries a golden record containing sounds, images, and greetings from
Earth, intended to represent humanity in case it is ever encountered by extraterrestrial life. Voyager 1
continues its incredible journey, traveling farther than any other human-made object in history.
