P&H Shovel Options Overview

Purpose
The purpose of this document is to show the reconstructed option screens for the
P&H shovel’s GUI application and supply a description of each item.

Discussion
The option screens have been reconstructed in attempts to show a more user friendly
view. Some options have also been slightly re-written for better clarification to its
function. The main option screen that you are familiar with is now divided up into
two main screens. These two main screens are further divided into special
classifications, refer to figure 1 and figure 2.

Motivator Monitoring Freq/Volts

When enabled, allows for the conversion of analog input signals to the Motivator
mode frequency and voltage readings respectively.

Hydraulic Cable Reel Option Enable

Enables the functionality of the cable reel on/off switch in the operator coop to allow
the operator to de-tension the cable reel. Also enables monitoring the feedback from
the cable reel hydraulic pump starter. If the hydraulic system shuts down with the
propel brakes released, an immediate shutdown fault will occur.

Cable Reel Protection

Enables the monitoring of Hoist, Crowd and Swing resolvers to prevent the dipper
coming into contact with the cable reel if installed. If the program detects a possible
collision all brakes will be set. This option should not be confused with the limit
switch (whisker) located on the rear of the machine which is used to protect the cable
reel if the counterweight comes in close proximity. For this protection either the
whisker is installed or a jumper is required giving the AC800 program a constant high
value.

MCC(Motor Control Center) used, no Aux. Cabinet

Enables monitoring of the Starter Control Supply Breakers. These breakers provide
power the MCC IO.

Hoist Drum Lock, Single Switch

Enables monitoring of the Hoist Drum Lock engaged switch. On 4100 Class shovels,
this switch is actually several sensors wired in series which detect a pin being
engaged in an intermediate gear in the hoist gear box. On 2800 Class shovels, this
switch is a limit switch that detects the engaged position of the “hockey stick” lever.
With this option enabled, if the hoist drum lock is engaged the operator can operate
remote hoist at a reduced reference. This option will prohibit the machine from
operating in Run Mode if the hoist drum lock is engaged. The “Engaged” sensor
should be wired such that the sensor is Open (off) with the hoist drum lock engaged,
and Closed (on) with the hoist drum lock disengaged.

Hoist Drum Lock, Two Switches

This option is the same as the Single Switch option above, except with the addition of
a second sensor on “hockey stick” style hoist drum locks on 2800 Class shovels. The
second sensor detects when the lever is placed in the “stored” position. The
“Engaged” sensor should be wired such that the sensor is Open (off) with the hoist
drum lock engaged, and Closed (on) with the hoist drum lock disengaged. The
“Stored” sensor should be wired such that the sensor is Closed (on) with the hoist
drum lock stored, and Open (off) with the hoist drum lock not in the stored position.

Filtration and Lubrication System Cont…
Refer to figure 4 for the following items.

Normally open zone valves

When enabled, this allows for normally open zone valves. If the upper grease system
is required to be greased, then the grease pump operates but the lower grease zone
valve closes which allows grease to flow through the upper grease system. This
works vise versa when the lower system is being operated. This method also applies
to the open gear systems as well. The “Gearcase Filtration System” is a prerequisite
to this option.

Normal zone valves

System operates normal. The “Gearcase Filtration System” is a prerequisite to this
option.

Milltronics Lube Level Sensor Option

Enables the Profibus drop for the Milltronics level controller and lube level
indications on the GUI. This system contains two ultra-sonic sensors which are used
to detect the level of the lube tanks.

Legacy Shovel – Large Lube Tank

For C500 model, this option enables the monitoring software for the right and left
large lube tank level sensors.

Farval
Enables software to operate and monitor a Farval lube system that has three pumps
and three zones. The zones that will be controlled and monitored are the upper,
lower, and open gear zones. Option “Lube System = 3-Pump / 3-Zone” must be
selected in order for this to work properly. The difference between the Farval and
Lincoln system is the valve assembly. The Farval system uses a reversing valve
assembly as oppose to the venting valve assembly used for the Lincoln system.

Gearcase Filtration System

Enables the filtration system software for the hoist, crowd, and swing motions.

Crowd Lube Pump 7 GPM

When enabled, the flow scales and flow setpoints are set to correspond to 7 GPM for
the crowd lube filtration system. This option is only available when option Gearcase
