1. How much do you think inequality in our society can correctly be


described as "the survival of the fittest"? Why?

In our society “the survival of the fittest” explain how our society work
as individual. People in our society experience inequality due to how
powerful wealthy people in our society. Since they had a power, they can
get what they want and have. The inequality in our society because people
who lived in a high class and lived in a nicer area can, or has power to
survive in our society where there are people who need to work harder in
order to survive in an unequal society.

2. Why do you think Spencer's ideas are still popular in the Philippines
today?

Herbert Spencer idea “the survival of the fittest” where this idea is
used in our education system where wealthy kids living in a better place
can attend to a better school. People who can afford to put their child
in a good school and had a great access in everything. While there are
some people who strive hard in order to go to school and deprived in some
resources that can help them to survive. This Spencer idea still popular
because it divides us from the strong group to weak groups and tells us
people who had power can survive in the end.

3. Is how much you earn a good measure of your importance to society? Why
or why not?

Earnings are important factors in a society, as it has impact to every


individual to meet their basic needs such as food shelter and education.
However, it’s not necessary to measure people importance based on how
they earn. Although it tends to prove that wealth is a primary source of
every individual to survive. But there are some people who don’t earn
that much yet their contribute to society are invaluable money cannot
tell us who we are. Our earning is not that comprehensive or accurate to
measure our importance to society.
