Dreaming alone does not make
you successful - THINK
– THINK OF HOW YOU CAN BECOME THE
CHIEF ENGINEER.
– What should I do ?
– How many years will it take ? You cannot do it
in a day.
– What are the steps that I have to cross ?
– What can I do to make it faster ?
– What is it that I can do better now so that I may
go to the next position ?
– Realize that you will be considered for the next
position only when you are already doing that
job.
– If you are doing your boss’s job- that means
your present job is being done perfectly.
– THINK deeply and think periodically - at least
once a week.
– Discuss with a good friend if possible. Write
down the main points in your diary on the front
page.
– THINK-THINK-THINK every day -preferably
before going to bed.
 Set SMART Goals
• If you have to reach a place you will have to
go mile by mile.
• There are no short cuts - There is no double
promotion in life.
• You have to achieve the smaller goals
before you attain your ambition.
• Tackle one step at a time.
– Let your goal be Specific and clear.
– Let your goal be Measurable
– Know exactly what you should do to attain the
goal and measure your progress periodically.
– Set yourself Achievable goals.
– Be Realistic
– Let your steps to achieving the goal be Time-
phased

• You cannot achieve your goal if your team
does not co-operate
• Take your team into confidence. Be truthful
and just to them.
• Talk to them about their promotions-
motivate them-and assure them that under
your leadership they will progress and
prosper.
• Any one accepts a leader if he is truthful,
just and efficient in his own work.
• You have to set goals for each of your team
members and help them to achieve.
• Conduct periodic meetings with your team
members , asses their performance, discuss
their set backs remind them of their goals
and help them all the way
