Purpose
This Study would like to dermine the Impact of Home Economics Education on
Technical Vocational Livelihood Students' Life Skills and Household Management in
Talipan National High School School Year 2023-2024
Brief
Introduction
Home Economics Education is the study of home economics encompasses a wide
variety of subjects, including foods and nutrition; clothing and textiles; housing,
home equipment, and home management; family economics; child development;
and family relations. Life Skills are defined as “a group of psychosocial
competencies and interpersonal skills that help people make informed decisions,
solve problems, think critically and creatively, communicate effectively, build
healthy relationships, empathize with others, and cope with and manage their lives
in a healthy and productive manner. Household Management refers to the various
tasks and chores associated with the organization, financial management , and
day-to-day operations of a home.The impact of Home economics students' life
skills and household management refers to the positive changes and improvements
that occur in students' abilities and knowledge related to practical life skills and
managing a household as a result of their education in the field of Home
Economics. This impact encompasses a broad range of skills, including cooking,
nutrition, budgeting, sewing, childcare, and home maintenance. It equips students
with the competence and confidence to make informed decisions and effectively
manage various aspects of their daily lives

One problem related to the impact of Home Economics education on TVL


(Technical-Vocational-Livelihood) students' life skills and household management is
the insufficient recognition and funding of Home Economics programs in many
educational institutions. This can lead to a lack of qualified teachers, outdated
teaching materials, and inadequate resources for practical training.

Through this education, students gain valuable knowledge and practical skills
related to cooking, nutrition, budgeting, sewing, and other essential life skills. This
equips them with the ability to make informed decisions about nutrition, manage

finances, and maintain a well-organized household. Additionally, it enhances their
employability and entrepreneurial potential. Overall, Home Economics education
plays a crucial role in empowering TVL students to lead more self-sufficient and
fulfilling lives, both in their personal and professional domains.
Scope and
Limitations of
the Study Scope of the study

This study covers the Impact of Home Economics Education on Students' Life Skills
and Household Management and determines if their is an impact to them this study
covers the Talipan National High Schools' students from the Grade 11 Technical
Vocational Livelihood track and will use in analysis the standard statistical tools like
Likert Scale, percentage Formula, and Weighted Average Mean

Limitation of the study

This study will not include the other perception of Grade 11 students of Talipan and
other High Schools and will only explore the Impact of Home Economics Education
on Technical Vocational Livelihood Students' Life skills and Household
Management. This

Research Locale

The study will be conducted on the facility of Talipan National High School

Respondents

The Respondents chosen by the researchers are the Grade 11 students of the
Technical Vocational Livelihood track consisting of 100 respondents

Questionnaire

The questionnaire will be done via Google form and will include the demographic
profile of the respondents and their perception of the impact of Home Economics
Education on their Life Skills and Household Management

Statistical Tools

The statistical tools used in the study will be the five point Likert Scale, percentage
Formula, and the weighted Average Mean

Period of the Study

The study will only be conducted within the time frame of August to January of the
year 2023-2024

Studies for life in the real world after graduating. However, in this attempt to prioritize
academia, collegiate-level courses are trumping the classes for general life skills
that help make freshly graduated students fully functional adults. Home
economics isn’t only about cooking, it’s about budgeting, home
management/design, sewing, child development, and health/hygiene. This
research analyzes the benefits of home economics for high school students. Home
economics is an important aspect of curriculum for high school students as it
teaches future generations life skills necessary for success - financial literacy,
healthy lifestyles, and political competency. Additionally, the study of benefits in
home economics is pertinent to the ongoing battle our country is facing against
the epidemic of obesity. The reader will be presented with information from a
literature review, two community partner interviews, and a theoretical framework
- known as neoliberalism. The findings of this paper are that home economics is
deserving of a place in the K-12 curriculum. The hope for this paper is to make
permanent changes to the K-12 curriculum to include a mandatory home
economics course in high schools nationwide.(Stehno,2023)

Synthesis

The study focuses on The Benefits of Home Economics for High School Students .
In their research it is stated that Home Economics Education impacts the overall
division of Household Chores within the males and females being that the females
do more of the household works than males and Home Economics being critical for
the second Education. The research answers the question what is the benefits if
the Home Economics Education is embedded in the secondary Education in which
they used a Qualitative approach only colleting two Interview responds
participated by two English teacher that had experience with teaching Home
economics education which was conducted on a highschool in a local Northern
California town which was conducted by a student of
Liberal Studies Program, California State University, Chico of the year 2023 .the
said researcher will use a interview and past researches as a medium to collect
data and pick respondents by using Convenience sampling method. The researcher
will Use the findings and analyze the data using a theoretical Framework . The
research The results of their research have made it apparent that home economics
curriculum is a
fundamental building block for the success of current and future students. Using a
combination
of the information they found for their literature review and the feedback they
received from their
community partners, they was able to determine three key findings.(Stehno, 2023)
the research they have done helps us the benefits of Home economics education
in the whole highschool student curriculum and help us set the stage for our study
focusing on the the G11 TVL STUDENTS' of Talipan National Highschool

The researchers will determine the Impact of Home Economics by identifying the
effects on the students Life Skills, and Household Management as The researchers
Identifies that the Home Economics Education is an independent variable and the
Life Skills and Household Management are the dependent Variables in which they
will use survey questionnaires via Google form to find out the impact of Home
Economics Education on the Life Skills and Household Management of the
students

Design Research Design


and Methodology The Study will use a quantitative research design. The descriptive-correlational
approach will be utilized in determining The Impact of Home Economics to students
on their life skills and household management . Correlational research was used by
the researchers in getting the significant relationship between the study of Home
Economics and Their Life Skills and Household Management

Population and Sampling


Participants of the study is composed of a hundred (100) TVL-HE students from
the Grade 11 curriculum

Purposive sampling will be utilized since the study is under the Academical track of
the students from the TVL-HE Track.

Respondents of the Study


Respondents of the study is chosen based on the following criteria:(1) a student of
Talipan National High School, (2) Has experienced the study in Home Economics,
and (3) Studying in the current school year 2023-2024

Research Instruments
Relevant Data for this research will be gathered through the researchers' self
devised questionnaire. The questionnaire will contain two parts: first part,
demographic profile of the students-respondents. Second Part, includes five (5)

items to measure the students understanding of Home Economics, and fifteen (15)
items to gauge the students Life Skills and household management

Five point Likert Scale will be used in measuring the impact of Home Economics to
Students' Life skills and Household Management where 5 is described as highly
impactful, 4 is impactful, 3 is moderately impactful, 2 is somewhat impactful and 1 is
not impactful

Data Gathering Procedure


The researchers asked for the title approval of research from Ma'am Lorna C.
Arenal, Practical Research 2 adviser. Then the researchers creates a consent form
to the respondents of Grade 11 students of Talipan National High School. Once
approved the researchers hands-out the survey questionnaires to the respondents
via Google form. The answer will then be tabulated, interpreted, and analyzed using
average mean, percentage, and Likert Scale

The researchers utilized standard statistical tools to analyze the data gathered.
