Home Economics is an essential life skill that encompasses various aspects of everyday
living, such as cooking, sewing, budgeting, nutrition, and parenting. It equips individuals with the
knowledge and skills needed to manage their households efficiently and lead healthy, sustainable
lives. However, with the evolving educational landscape and the emphasis on science, technology,
engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects, the importance of Home Economics in the
curriculum has often been overlooked.
This study aims to delve into the perceptions of TVL HE students regarding the importance
of Home Economics in their daily lives. By conducting in-depth interviews and surveys, we seek to
understand their thoughts, opinions, and experiences related to Home Economics. The data
collected will be analyzed to identify common themes and trends, shedding light on students'
understanding of the subject's impact on their lives.
The findings from this study hold significant implications for educators, curriculum
developers, and policymakers. By gaining insights into students' perceptions, more tailored and
effective teaching strategies can be developed to enhance their understanding and appreciation of
Home Economics. Additionally, the study's results can help inform the integration of Home
Economics into other disciplines, providing a holistic approach to education that emphasizes the
practical aspects of managing a household.

economics and peer group influence. The study was limited Senior High School Students of Bato School
of Fisheries for obvious reasons of time and finance.

Significance of the study

The educational system has not kept pace with the developing nations need for skilled manpower just
because vocation has not been widely accepted and implemented. Parents have keen interest towards
their children education which may run counter to social needs and manpower development. Based on
the result of this study, it is expected that awareness of facts would be provided which will help
educational planners’ aid administrators.

This study will be of immense benefits to students, teachers, parents and the nation at large who

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

High School is an important period in an adolescent’s life. It is the time that students
are making decisions about their course taking and future educational and career plans.
Every student carries the unique history of their past and this determines how they view
the world. One of the tasks of high school students is to explore and plan for their post-
secondary career options. Foreign Literature 7 purpose of this is to guide Grade 10
students in making informed decisions regarding their choice of SHS Track given the
conduct of the SHS Early Registration where every G10 student submits SHS Preference
Slip containing his first and second choices of schools and programs
to his class adviser.
The review of related literatures for this study is investigating the career goals and
expectations of TVL and HE students. Analyzing how these aspirations may influence their
educational choices and experiences. Examining how TVL and HE students perceive the
quality of education in their respective programs. Identifying factors that contribute to
positive or negative perceptions.

Exploring how TVL and HE students perceive their readiness for the workforce.
Assessing the effectiveness of their educational programs in preparing them for
employment. Investigating societal attitudes toward TVL and HE education. Exploring
potential stigmas associated with different educational paths and their impact on students'
perceptions. Analyzing how the learning environments and teaching methods in TVL and
HE programs are perceived by students. Identifying elements that enhance or hinder the
learning experience.

Disadvantages of perceptions of TVL/He students

The absence of face-to-face teaching, lack of self-learning modules, and assessment
procedure for distance learning modality are some of the problems TVL teachers
encounter.
(Technical-Vocational-Livelihood/Higher Education) students may have some
disadvantages, including potential biases in self-reporting, limited generalizability due to
sample size, and challenges in capturing the complexity of individual experiences within a
diverse group. Additionally, cultural and contextual factors could influence responses,
making it essential to interpret findings with caution.

Advantages of perceptions of TVL/He students

Good preparation for a career, as graduates of vocation courses have a higher
employment as compared to other courses. A smoother transition into their chosen career.
Relevant skills they will need for employment in less time. Hands-on training to ensure
future success. The TVL track provides students with subjects focused on job-ready skills. It
offers practical knowledge and exposure for students to earn National Certificates (NCs) to
help them land their desired job after they graduate from Senior High School (SHS).

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research Locale and Respondents
This study will be conducted in the division of Leyte specifically in Bato School of Fisheries located
at Jose Rizal Street, Barangay Tinago, Bato Leyte. Our target respondents will be the Senior high
school and the ALS Students.
The locale of the study includes three sets of participants of this study.
The researchers choose an assorted number of respondents to accurately generalize the study.
The first set will be composed of the Grade 11 students while the second set will be the Grade 12
students and the third is the ALS students.
The population in this study is composed pf 7-Grade 11 TVL students, 26-Grade 12 TVL students
and 25 ALS students-Participants from the province of Leyte in Bato School of Fisheries.
In this research procedure maybe used in order to economize time, efforts and arrive just the same
time, the most reliable findings desired by the researchers. Purposive sampling will be used in this
research since the researcher aims to use the most cost-effective and time-effective sampling
methods available. This time of appropriate method available since there is limited number of
primary data sources that can be contribute to the study.

Research Design

Descriptive-correlation design method of research will be used in this study. The descriptive correlation
is simply defined as a relationship between two variables. The whole purpose of using correlations in
research is to figure out which variables are connected. This method provides essential knowledge
about the concepts used in the study as well as their relationship with each other. Hence, this research
type is deemed to be the most appropriate for the perceived since this involved assessment of the given
condition.

The first part will be the socio demographic profile of the administrator participants and teacher -
participants such as sex, age, civil status, employment status; number of years working in city college,
the educational attainment, and academic rank.

For the second part will be the Organizational Culture questionnaire, a standardized instrument
developed by Roger Harrison (2014). This instrument contains 15 "beginnings" sentences that describe
some aspect of organizational functioning and design. All the (a) alternatives refer to an organizational
called Power-oriented. The (b) alternatives assess the Role culture, the (c) alternatives describe a culture
based on Achievement, and the (d) alternatives describe a Support orientation. Based on the sample
research by Roger Harrison and Herb Stokes using this standard questionnaire, finding the percentile of
each score for alternatives a, b, c, and d will use to computed and interpreted the result on Power.
The final component of the research instrument, concerns the grade average for all grade students
in BSoF during the first three months of the academic year which is the First Quarter Grade
Average.
