The territorial dispute that has been occurring now between Israel and Palestine, had not
only plagued the citizens of these specific countries but also those around the world. The
violence and the loss of life that can be seen in television news, and even face to face by those
who have been there would be indescribable. However, it could also be noted how these scenes
could be true or not, yet this type of dispute is occurring anywhere else in the world. While the
Israeli–Palestinian conflict centers mostly on these countries’ competing claims of the same land,
it could be argued how both nations’ historical and religious ties make the conflict even more
complicated. The most pressing issue though is not on these claims, but rather on the rights
violations and the violent classes that lead to the loss of many human lives.
Palestine and Israel have been longstanding in their issues of territorial claims citing
religious and historical causes. These disputes, however, did not only result in small skirmishes
over a piece of land but also caused immense suffering to the people and the political and
religious stability of the region. For the past years, both countries provided arguments for their
claims, citing several records and historical artifacts of them claiming the land. Nonetheless, the
issue is rather more complicated than just asking a world authority to decide who should live in
the region. It would always be a matter of who should be considered as the rightful owner of the
land – the Israelites who had long claimed to be indigents in the area, or the new settlers, who
claimed to have been awarded by the colonizers of Judah thousands of years ago. The most
pressing issue however in this is not the claim itself, but the violence that each country
perpetrated towards each other, citing their justifications for the violent acts. As someone who
sees the situation outside, there is no victor in this conflict, as each day, piles of innocent lives
task, as none of the sides would provide rational arguments to each other, or maybe both could
peace negotiation would be crucial here. Both nations have to reach a mutual agreement on how
they could agree on certain provisions through diplomacy. Both countries could also instill an
international organization or a neutral third party to provide mediation and facilitate trust-
building and dialogue, nonetheless, again, there could be repercussions in this solution as we
could see in the dispute over the West Philippine Sea between China and the Philippines.
Another solution is through economic development, that Israel and Palestine could embark
instead on international investment creating an exchange of goods and commodities where there
could be improvement in the economy. Then lastly, both nations could look into promoting
proper education and dialogue, in such a way that both could instead look into the core issues,
what could have been the main cause of the conflict, and how could be by building
communication in a conducive environment for peace talks, could solve security concerns of
both countries.
Though we can see that a comprehensive solution may seem elusive at the moment,
unless these countries try to diplomatically settle, this conflict will not end. There would still be
continued misunderstanding, prejudice, and mistrust between these two nations. Moreover, the
application of the solutions will not always be smooth as we have proven in history how conflicts
over land were complex and full of grievances among the participating countries. Achieving a
lasting peace will require, both the willingness of these two nations to reach an agreement of co-
