2. Open the spss and enter the data in the “data view”.
3. Label each data in the “variable view”. Then click the “values” to enter codes in each variable.
4. Get the frequency of the profile of the respondents by clicking “analyze” then “descriptive statistics” then
“frequencies”. Click the arrow to enter the variable data. Then click “ok”.
5. Click the result in the spss output then copy it to a word file. Transfer the frequency data to a new table, Put a table
number and a title to the table (must be patterned from the SOP). Follow the sample format below.
2. To compare means according to profile variables, click “analyze” then go to “compare means”. From there, you may choose
specific statistical tools you will be needing to analyze the data. Once the dialogue box is open, identify your dependent list
and the factor. Click option then click descriptives. Click posthoc (incase the result is significant. This is applicable to multiple
comparison). Choose Chefe. Click ok to run the data.
3. Copy the stat result and input it to the word file you have created earlier. Follow the sample format below.
4. For test for correlation if using chi square, click analyze, descriptive stats, then choose crosstabs. Click statistics, then click
chi squarethen click phi and cramer’s v. Click ok to run the stat. follow sample format below. Use the table below to interpret
the Cramer’s V (r value).
6. For test for correlation if Pearson correlation, click analyze, correlate, bivariate then click two correlational pair. Use
the table above to interpret the strength of relationship. Follow sample table format below:
a) Personal Profile
• Age
Sex
• Civil Status
• Educational Attainment
• Comorbidities
• Status of Operation
• PUV Terminal
b) Smoking Profile
• Smoking

Assuming that the data are normally distributed, the following will be used:
The data on the respondents’ profiles will be summarized through a tally based on the respondents’ specific answers using
frequency and percentage distribution.
Weighted mean and standard deviation will be used to describe the level of awareness and perceived effectiveness of
