Components;

The astrological components are the most important thing to learn –

learn these first. Ninety percent of questions that students ask me
are the result of their not knowing or understanding properly their
astrological parts. If an astrologer understands his astrological
parts, then he will be able read many things from the chart even
without learning a single technique – when we know our parts,
techniques naturally arise from our knowledge. When we don’t know
our parts, the best techniques fail.
Astrological Components are of two types: astronomical and
symbolic. Astronomical components are the of Bhavas (houses),
Rasis (signs), Nakshatras, Tithis, Planetary War, Asta (combustion),
Conjunctions, Aspects, etc. In short, anything and everything that
can be measured that takes place in the space around us in both a
visual and time-centered sense. Symbolic components are the
meanings of the astrological parts such as the planets, Rasis,
Nakshatras, Bhavas, Vargas, etc. Astrological techniques are
nothing more than combining astronomical relationships with the
symbolic meanings of the planets, Nakshatras, Bhavas, etc. For this
reason the great Varaha Mihira has stated that only the astrologer
who is perfect in both astronomy and astrological symbolism can be
correct. If an astrologer does something incorrectly astronomically,
they will calculate the technique incorrectly and thus their
predictions will fail.
I cannot stress the importance of refreshing your astronomical
knowledge. There are many astronomical calculations being done by
the majority of astrologers that are in conflict with the directions
given in the ancient texts due to astrologers of the past using easy
short cut methods for calculating very difficult things – but now with
computers making the difficult easy, it is time for us to get back on
track and calculate things the way the ancient masters have told us
to. So please, do not skip over the astronomical component videos
in this section. For that matter, do not skip over any videos in this
section – 90 percent of mistakes will not be made if you learn your
components well.
I remember an ayurvedic physician who came to visit me long ago.
He had just started to study astrology and all he knew was three
components: Plantary Aspects, Doshas of Planets and Doshas of
Rasis. But he understood his Doshas very, very well due to his
practice as an ayurvedic physician. He proceeded to read charts in
front of me to extreme accuracy within the context of what the
Doshas can tell about a person – even though he did not know a
single astrological technique. So study, study, study your
astrological components, don’t think that they are “Basics” they are
the essence and foundation of your practice as an astrologer.

Aspects ;
1_The Three Kinds of Aspects
Astrological texts from India make use of three kinds of aspects:
Planetary Aspects, Rasi Aspects and Tajika Aspects. All three of
these kinds of aspects are important and have their specific uses.
This video introduces the various aspects and explains their
different purposes.
2_Planetary Aspects
Planetary Aspects need to be calculated out to their exact
aspectual value in order to reveal ALL of their important effects.
This video explains how to use Planetary Aspects correctly in
accordance with the directions given in Brihat Parashara Hora
Shastra.
3. Introduction to Rasi Aspects_____video is in file;
1_Courses\9_Predicting with Jaimini's Rasis Dasas\3. Introduction to
Rasi Aspects.m4v
Rasi Aspects are the aspects that take place between the signs.
They are every bit as important as planetary aspects and while a
core component of Jaimini astrology, they are also very useful for
predicting with transits.

Astronomy;
4_Astronomy - One of the Astrologer's Gurus
Astronomy is the scientific foundation upon which all of the
horoscope and predictive astrology lies. We all know this, yet take
little time to understand astronomy. In this video I explain the
importance and greater use of astronomy.
5_The Horoscope Chart _also in MP3
In this Video I talk about the different chart styles: The square
South Indian chart, the diamond style North Indian chart and the
relatively new Round Wheel chart favoured by Western Astrologers.
Each of these chart styles has its advantages and each is designed
for different types of astrological techniques.
6_Local Space____video is in file \1_Courses\2_Intermediate
Courses\3_Tajika Aspects & Parashara’s Mutual Yogakarakas
Local Space is the infinetely sized sphere of space surrounding your
place of birth. Understanding local space is critical in order to
calculate Bhavas (Houses), Planetary War and Combustion correctly.
7_Planetary War…….check 7_Planetary War.PDF
Planetary War, a critical part of planetary analysis and planetary
strength, appears simple, but its calculation is much more involved
than most astrologers know. This video explains how planetary war
is actually meant to be calculated.
Prerequisites: Local Space, so that you understand the framework
for determining planetary war.
Please download the Planetary War Handout before listening to this
video.
8_Combustion……@ \2_Components\2_Astronomy\
Moon at 12 degrees from the Sun, Mars at 17 degrees, Mercury at 14
degrees, Venus at 10, degrees Jupiter at 11 degrees and Saturn at
15 degrees from the Sun are commonly said to be the degrees of
Combustion, however, it is not such a simple matter. Learn the
proper way to calculate combustion and what combustion really is
in the this video.

Bhavas

2_Intermediate Courses\3_Tajika Aspects & Parashara’s Mutual
Yogakarakas
Bhavas are the concrete occurring events in life. Astronomically
they are points measured on the zodiac, the lagna being the first
Bhava that all astrologers use. For precise predictions, all the other
Bhava points must also be determined, which can be a controversial
subject as there are many methods for determining the Bhava
Sphutas, or exact Bhava Points. In this video you will learn the basic
concepts behind the different Bhava Systems so that you can pick
out logical systems from illogical systems and so choose a system
that gives effective predictive results. Prerequisites: Local Space,
so that you understand the framework of Bhavas.

Indications of Vargas
Vargas are the key to making specific and accurate predictions.
Vargas have a three-fold influence: They each represent some area
of life; they provide planets with a full array of dignities; and they
provide each planet with an array of symbolic dieties. The videos in
this section will instruct on the area of life that each varga
represents.

12_Parashara's Formula for Timing with Vimshottari Dasa\1_Mutual
Agenda of all Five Dasa Lords 2-12-Miss #2
Vimshottari Dasa is meant to be calculated down to five levels:
1.Maha Dasa (Great Dasa)
2.Antar Dasa (Intermediate Dasa) or Bukti
3.Pratyantar Dasa (Near to Intermediate Dasa)
4.Sooksma Antar Dasa (Short Intermediate Dasa)
5.Prana Dasa (Filled or Breath Dasa)
Each of these Dasa Levels has its own important role:
1.The Maha Dasa represents the ceiling of what may happen in the
Dasa – all other Dasa levels operate only in the context of that for
which the Maha Dasa provides.
2.The Antar Dasa sets the individual up for the event – it moves
them into place for the event to happen. Secondarily, it provides
some details relevant to the event.
3.The Pratyantar Dasa indicates the growing hunger for and activity
towards the event.
4.The Sooksma Antar Dasa brings the event together and thus
represents the immediate circumstances that allow for the event to
happen.
5.The Prana Dasa is the concrete event and reveals the details of
the person, place or thing that comes into the person’s life.
Each of these Five Levels influences each other and each must
indicate the event in question., which is what I will teach in these
videos:
Prerequisites: These videos are part of the Parashara’s Formula for
Timing with Vimshottari Dasa and I strongly recommend that you
