Directions: Based on the lesson of Types of Sentences, write complete

sentences following each item. The sentences require correct use of


punctuation.

1. Simple sentences: Write simple sentences with all subjects in blue color and all
verbs in red color.
1.1 with one subject and one verb
We are student.
1.2 with one subject and two verbs
My sister is having fun with her toys.
1.3 with two subjects and one verb
My friend and I like a boy over there.
1.4 with two subjects and two verbs
Tom and Best are cooking pasta.
2. Compound sentences:
2.1 Write three compound sentences with FANBOYS coordinators. Use each of
them once.
a. Would you rather have cake, or brownie for dessert.
b. I want to eat cheesecake, but it all gone now.
c. The doctor said he had diabetes, so he had to go on a diet and exercise.
2.2 Write three compound sentences with conjunctive adverbs. Use each of them
once.
d. The hotel is not expensive; furthermore, it’s near the mall.
e. I read books all night. Nonetheless, I can’t remember anything.
f. There are four kinds of fruit in the market; for example, mangoes, grapes,
apples, and bananas.
2.3 Write one compound sentence with semicolons.
g. Sara made the sugar cookies; Susan decorated them.
3. Complex sentences: Write complex sentences with all independent clauses in
blue color and all dependent clauses in red color.
3.1 with an adverb clause
If you learn your lessons, you will pass your examination.
3.2 with an adjective clause
The man who arrived in the evening is ex-boyfriend of my mom.
3.3 with a noun clause
Many people think that Science is the most difficult subject.
4. A compound-complex sentence: Write a compound-complex sentence with all
independent clauses in blue color and one (or more) dependent clause in red color.
Although I miss him so much, I cannot go to him because I do not have money.
