1. Tongatong- is an idiophone made of various lengths of bamboo.
2. Saggeypo – is an aerophone made of bamboo pipes in a row.

5. Patteteg or patatag- is a bamboo leg xylophone that is struck with a long stick.

2. Pituh- is a flute that has finger holes but has no thumb hole.

C. Idiophone
1. Kalutang- is a pair of percussion sticks.
2. Buray dipay- is a bean-pod rattle.
3. Agung- is a set of gongs made of bronze.

Musical instruments of the Batak tribe.


1. Patigunggung – is a chordophone and is a parallel-stringed tube zither.
2. Kalag- is a membranophone with a dried animal skin stretched over a piece of hallowed wood struck
by a coiled rattan string.
3. Tipano- is a bamboo aerophone similar to a flute with six finger holes.
4. Sabagan- is an idiophone made of a softwood played by hitting it with sticks.
5. Lampung- is an idiophone similar to the sabagan, which is suspended from house beams.
6. Lantoy – us a nose flute with two holes.
7. Kodian- is an almost two-meter long instrument with two barks of fiber.
8. Budlong- is a chordophone similar to a guitar with two strings.

1. Pagang- is a zither made of bamboo with 13 strings.
2. Kudlong- is a guitar made of wood that has two stings only.
3. Suling- is an aerophone made of small bamboo with four holes.
4. Aruding- is a jaw harp made of small piece of bamboo placed near the mouth and blown to produce
sound.

Manunggul Jar- found in Palawan is one of the most important archaeological finds in the Philippines.

Santo Niño- one of the most popular religious icons in the Philippines. 1 st Christian statue brought in the
country by Magellan in 1521

Mariones Mask- one of the most eye-catching props used in a festival.

Basey Mat- woven mats, locally known as “banig” made of pandan leaves that are stripped, boiled, dyed
and woven.

Capiz Shell- Province of Capiz is known as Capiz shells or windowpane oyster.

Tingkop- product of Tagbanua in Palawan. It is a woven harvest basket.
