Christian Commission for Development in Bangladesh (CCDB) Climate Centre is located at
Gazipur, Shreepur. The Climate Centre can be found 60 kilometers north of Dhaka. Learning,
research, and capacity building opportunities on climate change, adaptation, and mitigation are
all available to visitors of the Climate Centre. It showcases more than 50 technologies suited
to low-resource rural areas and employs interactive teaching approaches. There will be a
Climate Technology Park, a Learning Centre, and a Climate Campus at the soon-to-be-
completed. The Climate Technology Park was planned to showcase Bangladesh's diverse
topography, including the country's coastal, arid, charland, hilly, and haor zones. Visitors gain
a deeper understanding of the most significant implications of climate change in each region,
as well as strategies for coping with these changes. As a result, the Park showcases numerous
eco-friendly practices and innovations, such as solar drip water irrigation, vertical farming,
agroforestry, biogas, fuel-efficient cooking, and desalinization of drinking water.

Firstly, I was confused that am I capable of going to this trip or not. Our trip to CCDB climate
was so amazing. I enjoyed the visit to the climate center so much even after being physically
weak. From lots to amazing thing in this lovely place the most astonishing thing the whole
climate center is without electricity. The whole center is on solar panel. The three types solar
panel – on grid, off grid, hybrid. They produce electricity, fulfill their needs and sell the extra
to the local government. It’s so great innovation undoubtedly. The bookish learning will be
useless while you can’t get the practical of that knowledge. In my opinion, all teachers and
students related to this sector must visit this center for taking the knowledge to the next level.

The concept of green building is marvelous. All of the building of that center is green building.
A ‘green’ building is a building that, in its design, construction or operation, reduces or
eliminates negative impacts, and can create positive impacts, on our climate and natural
environment. Green buildings preserve precious natural resources and improve our quality of
life. These building fulfill all the criteria of green building. Use of renewable energy, such as
solar energy is one of them which they have taken care of this criteria.

Adaptation and mitigation technologies were the most impressive to me. These fans take only
35 watts to run, whereas our standard fans demand approximately 75 watts. The method for
decreasing the use of fossil fuels is quite remarkable. Additionally, the light is located in the
middle of the fan. In the reception building, I observe a unique sort of air conditioning that not
only cools the space but also pulls in outside air.

When the Climate Center will be completed properly it will can put a vital contribution to
change climate challenges of Bangladesh that faces as a country. The first and foremost
problem of our country is use of polyethene. In climate center I saw use of polythene. But no,
it’s not. It’s actually biodegradable munching paper. At first glance, I thought it was polythene.
They use this paper for “Mulching”. This paper will mix with soil and turned into soil after 2
years.
The journey to the climate center will always peeped into the window of my mind. This climate
center can put a vital contribution for our Bangladesh the climate challenges that we are facing
now as a developing country. In my opinion, knowledge of climate related matter still remains
in bookish in our country. The opportunity to gain practical knowledge and then work on that
is not possible at this sector in our country. The students only get knowledge from books or
internet for climate related matter. But if this CCDB Climate Center can fully operate all the
program they have, can provide all the services then it will be a big game changing condition
for our country.
