The Beginning
special appeal. Yet, this trip was going to change all her perceptions
and like/dislikes or say her complete life.
“Here you are, Baby.” Her best friends Kunal and Poonam
reached to her and picked her luggage, as she entered into the
college campus.
Poonam gave her a warm hug. After Shreya’s brother Akhil,
Poonam was the person, who Shreya trusted most. They had been
friends since school days.
“How are you beautiful?” Kunal watched Shreya as she spoke.
She was surreally beautiful. He couldn’t even dream of
anything so flawless. She was too hard to describe. Every time he
met her, he just couldn’t look beyond her face.
Shreya looked like a supermodel with a 5’7 tall, thin body, and
shiny long black hair with slight curls.
“Hey Mani,” Shreya hugged her best friend and classmate
Manisha, who had just approached them. Manisha was short,
reaching up to Shreya’s shoulder and had a black pixie cut. She had
big black eyes, those when applied with make-up looks smoky and
alluring. No one would call her very beautiful but certainly neither
plain nor ugly.
“Hey, you look very tired buddy,” Manisha remarked at Kunal’s
face.
There was a moment of silence. Kunal broke by speaking
in more natural tones, “I had a bad dream. I don’t know why
nightmares have been torturing me for whole life.”
“Don’t worry, it happens to some people.” Shreya gazed at him
with concern.
“Does it happen to you, too?” Kunal asked anxiously.
“Yeah, but not as often as in your case,” Shreya rolled her eyes
in response.
“Are you looking for someone?” Kunal enquired Shreya, who
was looking here and there, while talking to him.
“Bye,” She said, feeling sad, not wanting him to leave her.
George nodded and walked away. She couldn’t help but
admire the view as he walked away. He didn’t even turn around to
exchange a single glance or a smile.
“Here you are?” Shreya’s friends said, approaching to her.
“Who was that guy?” Kunal asked anxiously, noticing Shreya’s
gaze chasing George.
“His name is George, we just happened to meet outside a
shop.” Shreya replied.
“He is God-damn handsome,” Sonali and Manisha remarked
in chorus. But their remark somehow offended Kunal.
“Yeah, he is,” Shreya said, heaving a deep sigh.
“Let’s proceed to beach.” Kunal interrupted, not in a mood to
hear someone else’s praise from Shreya’s mouth.
Goa is a mix of all kinds of people, from foreigners to localities’
and honeymoon couples to college students and is famous as a
drinking and drug paradise. There is only one law on drinking in
Goa, which is ‘No Law’. People are seen drinking in the streets at
day and night where alcohol of all sorts is sold at the cheapest rate
at every corner and at any time of the day.
Shreya was a little shy but wanted to start getting out more.
She never thought of herself as a beauty but only as an average
looking girl. However, Kunal used to remind her often that her
kind nature and impeccable beauty were her core assets.
This was her first holiday in Goa and indeed a special one as it
was going to change her entire life. Though, she had been to many
Indian holiday destinations before; one can vouch that the love
that kindled with Goa was going to always remain, therefore, it
was always going be the best holiday place for her.
Zooming across different parts of Goa along with her friends
made her feel better. Earlier, Shreya held the opinion that Goa
was very crowded and touristy, but now she felt it was just a
misconception or perhaps it was not the tourist season. On the
contrary, she found Goa more connected to village life. There were
coconut trees lining the shores and the ships sailing on the river
made a picture postcard view.
She found that people in Goa were friendly and also expect
same behavior from them. Transport was slightly expensive and
hence they had rented bikes because if one can drive a bike then
it’s not worth giving second thought and one should rent it from
day one in Goa.
Shreya was sitting behind Kunal, who used to drive very fast.
“Slow down,” she shouted from behind.
“You don’t know how to have fun,” Kunal chuckled.
“If I don’t like fun, then why would I have come to Goa,”
Shreya resisted.
“Ok, so let’s have some fun today,” Kunal said while stopping
outside a café.
“It’s my third visit to Goa; last time also I had come here. I love
this place St. Lucia for its Italian Pasta,” Kunal said to Shreya, who
had taken the seat next to him.
He ordered an Italian Pasta and Shark Sizzler with lemon rice.
“Umm, yummy,” Shreya tried to squeak with her mouth
stuffed with food.
“So you like Goa?” she asked Kunal.
“It’s my favorite holiday destination. Goa is just a different
world altogether in India. I feel completely liberated here and can
just chill and enjoy the sun, sea, and sand with liters of alcohol
and best of sea foods along with great lively music and lovely
ambience.” Kunal said enthusiastically in one breath.
“It’s not only a must visit destination, but a place where you
want to visit every year for your holidays.”
A foreigner who was approaching to them interrupted.
“Stefan, from UK” he extended his hand towards Kunal.
“Kunal from Delhi,” he shook hands with him.
girlfriend?”
“She is only my friend,” Kunal said in a low voice.
“You two look amazing together. She should be your girlfriend,”
Stefan said unbelievably, rolling his eyes like a teenager though he
was in the thirties.
“Hmm, but she doesn’t love me, I don’t know why.” With a
long sigh, Kunal consented.
“Fine, you leave this on your friend.” Stefan said confidently.
“Really, but how will you help me.” Kunal looked at him
surprisingly but the confident look on Stefan’s face made him
believe. There was something about Stefan that was pulling Kunal
towards him. They had just met today only, but Kunal had a feeling
of comradeship with him for years.
“Now you go and bring your lady here with you and enjoy the
party.” It was like Stefan was commanding and Kunal was following
his all commands.
When Kunal was gone, the guy who was staring at Shreya
badly outside the airport reached to Stefan.
“Hi, Adam.”
“Did you tell him something?” Adam asked, as he continued
to look here and there.
“No, let the right time come,” said Stefan.
“We can’t wait much. He is also here. ” Adam said in disgust.
“Who?” Stefan wondered.
“George.” Adam replied with horror in his eyes.
He Was So Irresistible
“All Rivers begin with R and end with S.” She gave all of them
a stupid answer plus a stupid smile for free.
“Next question is - Who is the ruler of weather?”
Again, all gave her a blank stare. Even Abhay didn’t dare to
speak this time. “Rain (Reign)” Sonali blinked.
“Why can’t we reduce Sea water?.... You Shreya” Sonali asked
as she watched Shreya looking backside. “Who said we can’t reduce
sea water. We only need to send Manisha in the sea.” Shreya’s voice
was humorous. They all laughed at her joke, except Sonali. Who
seemed to taking the quiz very seriously?
“Wrong answer.” She burst out. “You guys don’t seem to apply
simple logics.”
“Actually ‘Duce’ isn’t a word, so we can’t do it again.” Sonali
explained.
“Where does a ship go when it’s sick?” Here came another
question of Sea Quiz from Sonali.
Manisha said, musing for some time “To the DOCK”
“Ok! You are right. I told you girls are smarter than guys.”
Sonali grumbled.
“What do you call a witch who lives on the beach?” Abhay
poured a same type of stupid question over Sonali.
“I think a sandwich!” Sonali replied, scratching her head.
Her answer had made Abhay look dumb. Now this was the
turn of Kunal to fire some equally stupid question over girls’ party
to outwit them.
“What’s the best day to go to the beach?”
“Sun-Day” Shreya replied in no time.
“Okay tell me how do men exercise at the beach?” Manisha
came up with her question.
“By swimming, sea sport.” replied Kunal in a light tone.
Men exercise at the beach by sucking in their stomachs every
time they see a bikini.
And the three girls started laughing mercilessly over the boys.
“Oh God! Girls!!” Kunal gave them a scary expression.
“Bro, don’t ask God for help. Even He is helpless when it comes
to understand a girl.”
“Ok…Ok…I’m sorry, no more. What are you up to? I’m just
tidying up my room.” Sonali chuckled putting the hat on her head.
Shreya noticed George passing by near them. A part of her
wanted to go and talk to him, to chase him, but she remained
seated in her place.
“Hey Shreya! Look, your foreigner going from here.” Poonam,
who had just arrived, pointed to George, watching him moving
from nearby.
Poonam’s words gave a kind of support to Shreya and she
spurred into action. Standing, she hurriedly moved towards George.
“Hey hey,” she said from his back.
George kept walking. It seemed as if he had not heard her
voice.
“Hello George,” Shreya said again in a high pitch, making her
voice more audible.
This time she had left George with no other option. He had to
reply for a general courtesy.
“Oh, Hello! It’s you calling me.” George turned back to greet her.
As she walked with him, she felt herself more alive by just
being near him. But she was also feeling nervous and George could
figure out why. He was the type of guy who every girl wanted.
“You are a great musician,”
“Am I?”
“Yeah, I was so lost in your music.”
“That’s why you approached me, right here?” George gave her
a devilish smile with an inquisitive look.
“No, not exactly.”
“Baby here you are,” Kunal put his hands on her shoulders
from behind, making her jump in shock.
“How was your date with Firangi?” he said in an envious tone.
“It was great,” she said in a harsh tone, feeling irritated on his
remark.
“Oh! Honey, he is really damn handsome,” Sonali and Manisha
said in the chorus who had just reached for them.
“So who won that ‘Sea Quiz’,” Shreya tried to change the topic.
“It’s still going on, and now I’ll ask questions to you girls.” Abhay
who was probably working on his questions spoke from a distance.
Now they all sat around the table.
“So my first question is for you Sonali.”
“Me?” Sonali pointed a finger towards herself in disbelief.
“Yes, you, Miss Beauty with brain.” He remarked sarcastically.
Sonali gave him a creepy look that made him change his
decision.
“Okay, relax I’ll put three questions to you all three girls, any
one of you can answer anyone.”
Sonali and Manisha nodded but there was no reaction from
Shreya as if she wasn’t present there. Kunal was silently observing
her mood.
“Here are my questions” and Abhay came out with three
terrific questions.
“Where do fish wash?
He looked at the faces of all three girls expecting no one of
them to answer. He was right, no girl had the answer.
“In a river basin.” He himself answered while giving Sonali a
winning look.
“Alright my second question is- what day of the week does fish
hate?”
“I think…Umm…Yeah..Fryday,” Manisha came up with a
brilliant answer.
“Right.” Abhay felt bad getting a right answer from the girl’s
side which he hadn’t expected.
“Where do fish keep their money?” He came up with his final
question.
Shreya was only half listening to them, since she was expecting
George to return at any moment.
“On the river bank.” Finally Poonam, who was not part of ‘Sea
Quiz’ answered, when the three girls seemed clueless.
“Hey guys, here you are. Mr. Sunil Yadav is asking everyone to
assemble in our hotel restaurant for lunch.” One of their classmates
informed them.
While, they were on the way to their hotel room, Shreya’s eyes
were unknowingly searching for George. But there was no trace
of him.
After lunch, she felt like having some rest as she was not
accustomed to waking up early.
Shreya arrived at her hotel room, which was nicely decorated
with neutral colors accented with violet, which is her favorite color.
As Shreya put on her nightgown and got ready for bed, she
couldn’t help thinking about talks shared with George. She was
thinking about how she would pick up where they had left off,
if he hadn’t left so abruptly. More than one hour passed, before
she could feel sleepy. Finally, she crawled into bed and slowly fell
asleep. But soon her sleep was disturbed as she heard some noise
in her room. She couldn’t believe what she saw. George has been
just right in front of her.
“George, what are you doing here? What do you want?” Her
heart was pounding heavily and unevenly.
“I want you, my beautiful princess.” George replied, with lust
in his eyes.
Shreya began to wonder what she was supposed to do now.
He pulled off his shirt and walked slowly towards Shreya. She
stared incredulously.
She caught the sight of his muscular build and broad shoulders.
He lifted her nightgown off as soon he reached her. His lips met
hers. She parted her lips as he tasted her with his tongue. She
moaned as he kissed her, his hands cupping her generous breasts.
Shreya moaned again in response as he lay with her on the bed.
“That feels so good.” The pleasure she felt from just his kisses
was making her crazy with desire.
“I want you Shreya. Do you want me?” As she began to relax,
George whispered in her ear.
“Oh yes, more than anything.” Shreya immediately admitted,
as she moaned.
Shreya woke up and felt the moisture. She was breathing so
hard. It was eight at night and she just had a wet dream. Her first
ever wet dream that she felt so real.
She closed her eyes again and started to think about her dream,
hoping that she could experience the real thing someday.
The first thing she did after waking was to get a view outside
from the room window. A palm tree was leaning on the left, barely
a hundred meter away. Beyond that she saw yellow light emanating
from three ships on the Arabian Sea, lined and kissing the water
beneath. She leaned over the balcony and patted herself for taking
the wise decision of coming to Goa.
She noticed that her phone was vibrating.
“Hello!”
“How are you and where were you? Isn’t this your responsibility
to inform me that you are safe there?” Her brother Akhil asked
from the other side of the phone.
“I am fine, I was just sleeping.” She replied in a calm voice.
“Sleeping…umm…is your health good?”
“Yes bro, just don’t worry.”
She hung up the phone after a small conversation.
The night had been eventless yet.
Shreya was getting ready for the open beach night party. She
tried her best to look nice but wasn’t sure how she should dress. She
hadn’t tried to allure any guy before. She left her hair down since she
decided to straighten her wavy and sometimes unpredictable hair.
“Well, is it George honey?” asked Poonam reaching to her.
“How’d you know?”
“I’ve noticed the way you light up when you talk about him.”
Poonam said smiling.
“Well, he is really very handsome, a kind of man whom every
woman dreams of.” said Shreya with a big smile.
“But I am not sure whether he likes me or not...” Shreya walks
over to her and held her hands in worry.
“I hope he will also fall for you. You are also one in lakhs.
But always remember we may control a lot of things but love isn’t
one of them.” Poonam said looking at the worried expression on
Shreya’s face.
Shreya smiled, relieved to hear that her best friend approved
her attraction to a foreign man.
The sky was studded with bright stars and the air was a little
cold as it blew against Shreya, tousling her long black hair. She had
just arrived on the beach.
“You look very festive tonight.” Kunal said in amazement
looking at her hungrily.
“When did you find me less beautiful?” She raised a fine dark
eyebrow in his direction.
“When did you ever look any less beautiful?” Kunal said in a soft
voice and closed his eyes as if he was capturing her beauty in his mind.
When Kunal opened his eyes, he saw Shreya looking
somewhere else rather than at him. Her act offended him.
“Are you looking for someone?” Kunal said and Shreya realized
that she was unknowingly looking for George.
Kunal looked down into her eyes, wishing with all of his heart
that he was better with words and could tell her everything he held
The next day when they woke up it was already 10 am. They
had slept for long. Today was their last day in Goa as next morning
they were going to catch a flight for Delhi. This had already made
Shreya feel low. She had to tell her feelings to George before they
left for Delhi.
Taking a light breakfast they raced on the beach for water
sports.
“Hey Kunal!” Shreya patted him on his back, finding him
already present there.
“Oh! You are also here,” Shreya felt surprised to find Stefan was
standing next to Kunal.
“So, are you enjoying your holidays in Goa?” Stefan asked her.
“Yeah! A lot.” she replied in a cheerful voice.
“Today we are going to enjoy water sports.” Kunal informed him.
“Great, me too.” Stefan shrugged.
“People are saying that the sea is rough today and we shouldn’t
be doing water sports today,” Poonam interrupted from behind.
“Who cares, we are here for today only.” Kunal said in a
carefree tone.
“Fine, but I won’t let Shreya to do that, she even doesn’t know
swimming,” Poonam revolted.
“I am a great swimmer, I’ll take care of you Shreya.” By saying
this, Stefan agreed Shreya for water sports.
“We are also in, their friends Sonali, Abhay and Manisha
screamed coming towards them.
Now Poonam was left alone with no choice.
Shreya could sense that.
“I am not going to do that, unless you come with me.” Shreya
took Poonam in, with her threat.
They all wore lifesaving jackets and started enjoying water
rides.
They did, Jet Ski, boat ride, Para sailing, and many more
adventurous sports. Fortunately, all went well.
After water sports they were on the sea shore, playing in sea
water, splashing it at each other. Kunal was enjoying swimming
with Stefan and Sonali. Poonam, Abhay, Shreya and Manisha were
not going in deep.
Swimming with great power and speed, Stefan came near to
Shreya and looked into her eyes deeply. Shreya felt spell bounded
as if he was controlling her mind. Stefan was again gone away in
deep water. He looked at Shreya from a distance. Even though
Shreya didn’t know how to swim, she started going into deep
water. It was almost a suicidal act. A vague nagging in the pit of
her stomach told her that for some reason it was a very bad idea,
but she didn’t stop as if mesmerized by the sea.
“Go, save her, and win her heart.” Stefan said quickly to Kunal,
who was enjoying floating over water like a corpse. His words made
Kunal sprung into action. He started swimming fast towards her.
Poonam, who had been busy talking, just noticed her. “Shreya
come back” she shouted at the top of her lungs.
Shreya was going farther into the sea as if she had lost her
senses. Now, the water was almost near her mouth, but she didn’t
stop. Poonam’s heart was beating badly and unevenly, she herself
didn’t know swimming.
“Someone please save her.” she shouted badly. Her face had
almost become red.
As foretold, the sea was rough on the day. A powerful wave
came and drowned Shreya taking her beneath the water. She
regained her senses as the water started chocking her breath and
taking away her life.
Kunal was approaching towards her quickly as he could. The
situation soon worsened as she was nowhere to be seen.
By now, life guards too had dived into the sea, attempting to
save her. People had heard Poonam’s shrieks.
Lifeguards were away from Shreya and death was near her.
Faces of her dead parents and her loving brother floated in front
of her eyes. She closed her eyes as she had succumbed to death.
Water had made it hard for her to breathe anymore. Now, she only
wanted this pain to end as soon as possible.
Then suddenly out of nowhere George appeared, pulling her
out of water, putting his best efforts. He carried her to the seashore.
“Open your eyes,” Poonam cried.
“She will be fine,” George assured Poonam and same time
pressed her chest to get water out of the lungs.
Coughing badly, Shreya opened her eyes in a couple of seconds.
She saw, George, Poonam, Sonali, and many more leaning
over and watching her anxiously.
“You scared the hell out of me!” Kunal, who had just reached
there, hugged her desperately elevating her head from the ground.
His eyes were red with tears and face was white with fear.
George furiously looked at Kunal.
“Thank you,” Kunal said to him and he really meant that this time.
George put his last glance over Shreya and left that place
without saying a single word to anyone.
As he turned and took some steps, someone very strong and
cold like him, knocked into him. It was Stefan.
“You will pay for this.” George said with no shortage of hatred.
“Do you really want to keep her alive? We both know, it’s just a
matter of time.” Stefan chuckled.
“Why have you come to India?” George said in disgust.
“Even I want to know the same. What do you want with this
girl?” asked Stefan again in a louder voice.
Adam, who had just reached to them muttered, “We both can
kill you in this instance, but let our king have this pleasure.”
“He was never a king and Natalie’s curse will never allow him
to be a king.” George shouted in their faces fearlessly.
“Then let Natalie take her curse back this time.” Stefan threw
George away with all his strength and both Stefan and Adam
disappeared from that place in no time.
George recovered himself. His head had hurt badly with a
palm tree and had started bleeding. Though his wound seemed
ghastly he had recovered quickly.
All of Shreya’s classmates were ordered to assemble in their
hotel restaurant.
“No more adventure for today.” Their faculty Mr. Sunil Yadav
exploded.
Tonight we have party on beach exclusively for our group only,
no more infiltration, and no one is allowed to leave the group.
Those who don’t want to attend the party can stay in the hotel, but
no more outing is allowed elsewhere.”
“But sir…” Abhay tried to cut his statement.
“No if ’s and but’s, it’s me who is responsible for your safe
return. If something had happened to Shreya today, I would have
been caught in a very bad situation.” Mr. Sunil Yadav made his
point clear.
Shreya wasn’t interested in going to the party, but it was her
last night in Goa and she had to take George’s address or a contact
number before leaving Goa.
“What happened to you today? Why didn’t you listen to me,
when I was shouting for you to return?” Poonam had asked this
question to Shreya more than ten times, but Shreya had only one
answer “I don’t know.”
The night was roaring with party on sea beach. Loud
thunderous music and smell of seafood had filled the scene.
Shreya was not dancing and was just sitting nearby, sipping a
soft drink.
Suddenly, her face lightened up as she saw George coming
towards her. She looked at Poonam with joy.
“He is here, coming towards us.” There was an unending joy in
Unconditional Love
Though Goa tour was over there was still no sign of any
abetment in Shreya’s crush over George. Shreya opened her eyes,
feeling groggy, and sick to her stomach. The first thing that hit her
was the memory of the George’s brilliant look. He was a dream.
No, it was even much better. He seemed so irresistible to her that
she couldn’t even describe it.
She was lying on her bed. She sat up and felt a severe headache.
She tried to stand up leaning against the wall.
“My Gudia is getting late for college.” Akhil said entering the room.
“Why didn’t you wake me up on time?” Shreya asked as he
scowled at her.
“Why are you sounding so low since the day you returned from
Goa,” Akhil said in a little concerned tone fluttering his eyes at her.
“No, I am just… I am perfectly fine.” Shreya looked away
trying not to reveal her expression.
“Hi Shreya,”
“Hey Sonali. How are you girl?” Shreya asked her entering her
classroom.
“I am perfectly fine, but you don’t seem fine, do you?” Sonali
said with concern in her eyes.
“I am okay,” Shreya said, hiding her face from Sonali.
Shreya moved ahead and went to sit next to Poonam.
“Come on Shreya, more than ten days have passed since
our Goa trip. Just forget him, taking him as a stranger.” Poonam
sounded realistic.
“I tried. But more I try, more I miss him,” Shreya said, taking
her head in her hands.
“I don’t think you are trying even a bit to forget that Firangi.”
Kunal, who had just reached them said in a harsh voice.
His words made Poonam and Shreya look at him enquiringly.
“Yesterday evening, while, browsing the internet in our
computer lab, I found someone had desperately searched for
George from London, from Goa, on all the websites and social
media as much as possible. Browsing history says you have visited
thousands of George’s profile on various social and businesses
networking websites. What an innovative way to forget!!!” Kunal
made mockery of her in front of all, this made Shreya offended.
Heat wave wasn’t the only thing making Delhi too hot for
Shreya. She’d been spending each night thinking about a man who
had set her body and heart on fire. The problem was that he was only
a dream. Like her many recent nights even today also she dreamt
of George. Her dream drifted her to the same place where she was
sitting with George at night under a tree, near the fireplace in Goa.
Shreya stared at George, who was holding her hand, with wide
eyes, her pupils large in the low glow of the fire, and the multi-
colored lights on the tree.
Shreya sighed and stroked her hand where he held it in his,
trapped against his chest.
“Did you miss me Shreya?” He whispered and she frowned at
him.
“Like hell.” Shreya’s eyes searched him, her frown melted away
and her eyebrows rising high.
“I can’t live without you. Please come back.” she said with a
trace of desire and a small shred of strength.
“Fine, just wait for me then.” George took her left hand from
his chest.
Her eyes fluttered open and she looked at him, questioning
and confused.
Shreya’s breathing was ragged and strained. Every breath she took
and released hurt a little more. Blood crawled down her face. She
tried to push her eyebrows forward to keep it out of her eyes, but a
trickle still snuck in the corners and stung her.
Shreya clamped her eyes and mouth shut just in time. She felt
an ice-cold touch of George on her legs and behind her back. He
was carrying her in his arms now. She forcefully opened her eyes
to make sure it was George and she was not daydreaming again.
George didn’t wait for any help and just run with the speed
of bullet towards a nearby hospital. Though Shreya had been half
conscious but in her heart she felt good in spite of her injuries.
She felt choked and her throat burned. Her head hurt. She
tried to open her eyes and talk to George but she had fallen utterly
unconscious for several hours.
It took her sometime to gather where she was. Why was her
body paining so much? Was this a bad dream? A bandage was
wrapped around her head. She slowly opened her eyes partially
and looked at the ceiling above, which seemed unfamiliar. Then
last memories stroke her. The encounter with George rushed back
to her mind. She could think more clearly. ‘It’s George, who had
carried me here’, she recalled. George’s thought worked like a shot
of morphine taking every bit of the pain away.
A male voice said entering in the room. ‘Are you okay?’
‘Yes,’ Shreya said weakly. Shreya looked at his brother’s face
and she felt mortified. Akhil’s blotchy eyes were blood red and full
of tears. It looked like he had been crying for a long time. He sat
on the bed, hugged her, and started crying. His tears wet her top.
She felt a few teardrops percolate down her hospital robe and wet
her skin. A few tears find their way to Shreya’s eyes too. She wasn’t
sure if it’s because her only brother was crying for her or because
of whom she had come across this morning.
“Where is he?” Shreya furiously looked in all directions to find
any trace of George.
better than anyone. Even though Shreya was a grown up girl now,
but her brother was still as protective about her as he was when she
was a school going kid. She could still remember the recent fifteen
minutes lecture from her brother when she was going to Goa. Be
Careful, Don’t talk to strangers, don’t eat anything that any stranger
offers, don’t take a drink that any guy offers.
Had he known about her crush on George, he might have
confined her in a room. Obviously, she never wanted that to
happen. She realized her mistake of giving too much clue about
George to her brother.
“Our group had met him in Goa. It was just a formal meet.
I just saw him here so thought of talking to him,” Shreya said,
holding Poonam’s hands fearing the anger of her brother.
“I don’t know much about him than this.” There was a
hesitation in Shreya’s tone
“Oh, it’s okay.” Akhil said, staring at Poonam then back to his
sister.
Smiling, Shreya felt a rush of relief come over her.
“Who donated blood for me?” Shreya asked, knowing from
her external conditions that she was given blood, while, she was
unconscious.
Her brother gave her a big smile.
“No, you can’t.” She looked at his face in surprise as she knew
very well that Akhil had a blood phobia and he used to faint even
with a slight injury that caused blood to come out.
“I can do anything for you, my Gudia.” Akhil said running his
fingers on her head.
“Guys, it’s time to wait outside” an old aged nurse said entering
the room.
Shreya gave that nurse a friendly smile, seemed like she
wanted some extra favor from her. She used to give her innocent
and beautiful smile in childhood to doctors as if they will leave
her without any injection. But this time her smiled worked and
him as your family member.” These were her last words while
dashing out from the room.
“Gudia, tonight I am staying here with you.” Shreya heard a
very familiar voice and then another familiar voice of “Me too”.
The first voice belonged to Akhil and second one was of Shreya’s
best friend Poonam.
The three spend some time together. Today, the chatterbox
Shreya was almost silent but she liked that Akhil and Poonam were
continuously chattering as she liked Poonam more than any girl in
this world. Shreya used to crack jokes with Poonam that one day she
should become her sister-in-law, so their bonding will get stronger.
“I am feeling thirsty.” Shreya pointed out towards the water.
“Would you also like to eat something.” her brother asked.
“Hmm, Pizza,” Shreya said smiling.
“You are not eating Pizza definitely. But I am going to ask
doctor that what light food I can offer you tonight.” remarked
Akhil while dashing out of the room.
“Did you really meet George?” Poonam said, reaching out
Shreya’s hand towards her.
“Yeah, I got stuck with a car while following him.”
“You are a crazy girl.” said Poonam with a worried look
washing over her as she looked at Shreya’s wounds.
“Yeah, I am crazy for George.” said Shreya chuckling.
“So now what, you got his contact number?” Poonam’s words
wiped the smile out of Shreya’s innocent face as she realized that
she had actually lost George again. It was too much for her to bear.
Being Shreya’s lifetime best friend Poonam could easily read
her facial expressions.
Poonam said firmly, “Don’t worry. Soon you will be with him.”
“But really, how can you say that?”
“My intuition. And moreover, if he didn’t mean to be in your
life, then he wouldn’t have met you again. Can’t you see a divine
wish in it? One day your destiny will compel him to meet you.”
“I don’t believe in destiny, but I believe in you and your words.”
Shreya replied softly squeezing Poonam’s hand.
Suddenly, they both went silent as they heard footsteps of
Akhil.
“Sorry sis, today you will be only on liquid diet. I am going out
to get some pure juice for you.”
“It’s okay. But take Poonam with you and both of you eat
something,”
“No, I don’t want to leave you alone.” Poonam resisted.
“I want to sleep now.” Shreya pretended. She wanted Akhil and
Poonam to spend some time together.
“Okay, take care.”
Akhil and Poonam went out for dinner, leaving her alone to sleep.
Shreya closed her eyes and tried to sleep. She could hear
hospital sounds in the background. It had been almost one month
that she had first met George in Goa. She missed him since then.
Before meeting him she used to think that it’s cool to live alone, but
now her thoughts were not same. She missed sunny Goa days. She
missed his morning sight on the beach, although Kunal was always
there for her, but she was never drawn to him the way she was
towards George. She tried to sleep but as soon as she closed her eyes,
it all came back to her. She tried to push George’s memories out
of her head. She desperately needed a distraction. Maybe thinking
about something else would help but she was really not having
anything so special or any great moment of her life to remember.
All she had was pain and misery in her life. First, she lost her father
at a very tender age, then she had seen her Mom working like
animals day and night to bring them up and then even her mother
died, when she was only fifteen. It was her elder brother Akhil, who
had brought her up since then. Responsibilities at a very young
age had compelled her brother to leave his studies and to do a job
The next day when she woke, she felt that the pain had
lessened to an extent. The old nurse came to change the blood
stained bandages on her head, her arms and her legs. She made
her way – with a little help – towards the chambers of the doctors
to get a few checks done before they could release her. On her way
she saw many people around, with far more grave injuries than
her, with bigger bandages, smiling, and laughing over all that pain.
Some of them even missed a limb or two. It was hard to look at
them. Suddenly she felt weak. She had always found hospitals
very depressing. Given the present scenario, it was even more so.
She couldn’t wait to get out of it and go home and again search
for George. The walk to the doctor’s chamber was very short and
she looked around thinking that George would secretly visit the
hospital to see her. Inside the doctors’ chamber some final tests
were carried on her. They asked her if she was feeling all right and
let her go.
‘Are you alright?’ Akhil asked.
“Yeah, I want to go home.”
It had been an hour since they had been sitting in the car and
she had not said anything. She was looking out of the window and
staring blankly at Delhi flyovers, bustling markets and busy streets
to find any trace of George. Their last meeting was still playing
in her mind. The sight of George, her following him, their way to
hospital, and then the words of old nurse echoed in her mind ‘If
he wouldn’t have been a foreigner we would have taken him as your
family member.’
A few days later when Shreya had almost recovered, she stood
from her bed, reached over the mirror and smoothed her long
black hair.
“Going somewhere?” her brother Akhil enquired.
“Just feeling choked, want some fresh air. I am going to
a nearby park for a walk.” Shreya said, rolling her eyes up then
looking on Akhil.
“Fine, first finish this glass of milk.” Akhil extended a glass
towards her.
She smiled at him and then sipped it.
“Don’t be late and do take your cell phone with you.” Shreya’s
accident had made Akhil more cautious for her.
Shreya entered the park and slowly took some rounds around
it.
“How are you feeling now?” A masculine voice came from her
behind.
“George,” she said even without seeing that man and then she
turned back.
She was right. It was him standing right behind her. She
couldn’t believe her eyes. The man she searched all time and
everywhere was simply standing right in front of her.
“Oh no! Not again.” She snapped her forehead believing she
was again dreaming of him.
George had read her mind. He smiled amusingly.
Taking her hand in his and bringing it to his heart he chuckled.
“It’s all real.”
Shreya sighed and leaned back, trying to think of where to
start. There had been countless times that she’d wanted to tell him
what she felt about him. It seemed so haste, though, as they were
still not more than strangers.
Shreya had so much to tell him that surprisingly made her
dumb. She was just looking at him fondly.
“Have you lost your voice in that accident?” George made fun
of her which made her frown.
“Did you ever miss me?” George smiled as he knew the answer
better.
“Like anything.”
His smile melted her frown in an instant. He was devastated
when he smiled. It had been that charming grin that had made her
fall for him so instantly. The dreams had only given her a sense
of hunger and lust for him. But today his beautiful smile had won
her heart.
“Did you ever miss me?” it was really very important for
Shreya to know that.
“I don’t know why, but surprisingly yeah, I missed you too.
Though there has been nothing as such between us.” George said
genuinely.
“Was there really nothing between us?” Shreya said in a
murmur.
George just shrugged his shoulders, giving her time to rethink.
Actually, he was right to an extent. Their relationship only
existed in Shreya’s mind, her dreams, and her imaginations but
not in reality. In real life they had only formal talks that too for
maximum three- four times only.
Rethinking over their relationship made Shreya amazed over
herself.
‘How could she be so crazy?’
“So are you here to bid me Goodbye?” Shreya asked fearfully.
Shreya, the girl who had never lost her control for any guy, had
become vulnerable so easily this time. The thought of being
without George, her first crush, had filled her with insecurity.
“No, I am here to say that I like you.” George said softly.
With no further argument Shreya went willingly into his arms,
tilting her head back in invitation and knowing he wouldn’t refuse.
He kissed her hairs and held her gently close as if he was afraid of
breaking her. She was still strong for her current condition.
Shreya took her hand from his chest. George pressed a kiss
to her hand. The smell of her blood felt divine to him. When he
kissed Shreya, she wanted to possess him, wanted to tell him that
she would never let him go again. She desired to show him the
passion he had stirred in her. She wanted to give her heart and all
she had to him.
and my parents died years ago. Akhil and I are very close. He’s the
only family I have in the world as far as I’m concerned.”
George pulled up to Shreya’s apartment. He didn’t want the
day to end, so he asked “May I come in?”
“I don’t think that would be a good idea.” Shreya said
hesitatingly.
George gave Shreya a kiss before she dashed out of the car. It
was a gentle, sweet kiss. She gave George a hug, laying her head on
his chest. She loved the way he felt against her. “I hope to see you
soon.”
“I don’t want to scare you, but I think I am falling for you.”
George closed his eyes for a moment and said in a low murmur.
Shreya didn’t know what to say. She stood there with her
mouth open. She had strong feelings for George. In fact, it was she
who was mad for George since she had seen him for the first time.
But they had only been on one date. She needed time to get to
know him before she could commit anything to him.
“I really like you George, but I don’t know how I feel just yet.
How about we wait for our second date before we go there?”
“Of course. I will call you tomorrow to make plans for our next
date.”
“Um, sure, that would be great.”
“Great, I’ll call you.” George stood outside his car as Shreya
walked to her apartment. He waited until she was safely inside
before he got into his car to leave.
Shreya arrived at her apartment just in time to hear the phone
ringing. She was tired and very confused. Her date with George
was a sweet one.
“Shreya, I’m so glad you answered. How was your date?”
Poonam asked enthusiastically.
“Well, I think he likes me and he wants to go out again.”
“Seriously, that’s all the details I get? Did you scream his name
full passion. The kiss lasted for more than a minute. For the first
time Shreya noticed a kind of wild instinct in George.
George pulled himself away suddenly.
I think I should leave now. Before she could utter any word,
his lips again brushed against hers. She closed her eyes again, but
when she opened them George was not present anywhere. She
looked outside the window, but there was no sign of him.
Days passed. Now, instead of her brother, Shreya preferred
George to drop her to the college. Shreya’s days were now passing
in happiness and content. She had never experienced so much
happiness in her entire life. George used to treat her like a princess.
Shreya felt no more empty and sad from inside as she used to feel
after her parents death.
George used to pamper her so much whenever they’d had
a chance to be together. He was always so attentive and caring,
looking after her every second. He had been so affectionate and
loving, so sweet, that she fell in love with him again and again.
One day as Shreya entered her home, she found her brother
sitting on couch with a look of much anger.
“Are you seeing, I mean dating any guy, nowadays?” Without
putting it in a nice way he threw a direct question.
For a couple of seconds Shreya remained quiet. Finally, she
gathered the strength to speak truth.
“Yeah, I like someone.” She said in a low voice.
“And that someone is a foreigner. Do you have any idea on
what path you are moving? The road you have chosen is going to
take you nowhere.” He said and she could hear the rage in his voice.
She swallowed, not quite able to find the words to express her
emotions.
“Tell me what your future is with him? How much you know
about that foreigner?”
“He is here in India for some business purpose and will stay
here for some more days only.” She replied in a suppressed voice.
Akhil was going to reason with her, but she spoke again.
“I want to marry him, after I finish my study.” Akhil wondered
when his little Gudia grew up to the age of marriage.
He was so bewildered by what he had just heard.
“I trust your choice but I want you to concentrate on your
career for now. We will think about it afterwards.” He looked away
trying to hide his emotions.
Shreya spoke thinking over some issue “by the way, how you
came to know about me and George.”
Akhil gave him a blank look only.
“No, it can’t be Kunal.” she said half to herself.
The look on her brother’s face confirmed it was Kunal, who
had filled his ears. Being together for the whole life Shreya could
easily read her brother’s mind. Once even Kunal had threatened
her that he would tell her brother about her affair with George.
Shreya’s final exams were approaching so she had started
concentrating more on her studies and nowadays she was seeing
George less as compared to past month.
George too didn’t want to disturb her study. It was after her
exams they again started meeting properly.
“What should I wear in tomorrow’s farewell party?” Shreya
asked George, behaving like a typical girl.
“Anything you wish. You look princess in anything you wear.”
George said in a flirting tone.
They were sitting in Shreya’s room at night time. George had
secretly dashed into her room as he had done three-four times
before.
Shreya was in a light mood today as her final exams had ended
and the next day she was going to party and most importantly, she
was with her favorite person right now, but in contrast George was
very serious.
Unquenchable Thirst
All her life, Shreya always felt too ordinary, however, George
never made her feel anything but perfect and beautiful.
Maybe, he was the one for her.
George’s arrival in Shreya’s life had changed her a lot. She
was no longer the same shy, conservative girl, who was satisfied to
confine herself in her cocoon’s shell. She had started to take pleasure
in her life. Her lifestyle was changing significantly. Now, she wanted
to enjoy freedom and wished to see the whole world as promised by
George. In pursuit of her new dream life, she had gone too far and
was ready to leave everything and everyone behind, for George.
The news of Shreya’s decision to leave for London had come
like a bolt from the blue to her brother, Akhil. Her brother felt
helpless as all his efforts to stop her were going in vain. Shreya’s all
talks, actions, motives, and every desire now revolved around only
and only one word- George.
It took George very less effort to convince her to leave with him
for London. George had already chalked out her visa requirements.
Shreya arrived with George to his Grand Hills home, a lonely
area, at the outskirts of the city. Being a Vampire for so long has its
advantages. George had a very long time to acquire wealth.
“Welcome home…” George said as he hugged Shreya and gave
her a kiss on the forehead.
“Is this our home?”
Shreya was surprised as they drew up to a magnificent royal
building. She hadn’t expected George this much wealthier.
A very royal large sign board on the door said “Grand Hills “.
“Impressive name for a house. Maybe it’s because this house
is really grand from inside.” Shreya thought. George pressed the
doorbell and a very stunning long haired lady with a vampire
tattoo covering her neck and shoulder opened the door.
“Welcome back, Mr. George,” she welcomed them with a sweet
smile that touched her beautiful blue eyes.
“Meet Ms. Roswell. She is the caretaker of my Grand Hills home.
“I guess you are, Ms. Shreya” Roswell said reading Shreya
expressions.
“Yup.” Shreya nodded.
“Welcome Princess,” she bowed a little in Shreya’s honor.
Walking into George’s house, Shreya couldn’t believe her eyes.
It was the grandest house, she had ever been in. With a grand
staircase and a crystal chandelier that glittered above them from
the high ceiling. His home was quite intimidating.
“You have a beautiful home.” Shreya said, while, looking at the
luxurious furniture. The house is marvelously decorated.
“It’s too large for me. I’ve thought about downgrading to
something smaller but I love the lake and it’s also nice and secluded.”
“Do you live here alone?”
“My two more vampire mates, Eric and Frank, often lives
here also. They would love to meet you. Let me show you around.”
George took Shreya around the many rooms in the house, the
game room, the movie room, and the sitting room. The house had
extra rooms than a person could probably use. She couldn’t believe
he owned this house.
“Shreya would you like to go upstairs? Roswell my maid had
specially decorated the room for your dwelling.
“That would be great!”
George led Shreya to a room next to the upstairs living room.
The room was big compared to the others that she had seen and
she was shocked as she noticed the brilliant royal touch and very
expensive furniture and artefacts of that room. For few seconds,
her mouth remained open in amazement.
‘OMG, how much costly antiques this room contains.”
Shreya had always loved looking at antiques but could never
afford anything significant.
“This is unbelievable, George. It must have taken you a long
time to gather all of these.”
“I am on this earth for a very long time-some are vintage.”
As Shreya looked at all different shapes, sizes, and colors of the
antiques, she felt as if she had a connection with those artefacts.
She was carefully looking at those and wanted to know the
reason that why she was feeling a strong bonding with several
artefacts of Grand Hills.
“I’m going to swim now, would you like to join me? Shreya, I know
you are a bit shy, so how about if I turn around and wait until you are
in the water?” George didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable,
but then again he wanted her in the swimming pool with him.
“Well, I guess that would be okay.” Shreya wasn’t sure but she
took off her clothes and slipped into the warm water.
“Can I turn around yet?” George knew she was in the water.
He’d watched her half undress in the reflection of the windows that
surrounded the pool looking out into the lake.
“Okay, I’m in. You can turn around now.” Shreya replied
nervously.
Shreya and George were both in the pool, almost half naked.
Shreya had never done anything like this before. She had never
dated any guy before George and she was of course a virgin.
George began swimming towards her. He was feeling excited,
and the sight of Shreya’s perky breasts had made it much worse.
Shreya was trembling with nerves. She wanted him so badly but
wasn’t sure if she was ready to go there tonight, even though she
had already done so many dirty things to him in her mind.
“Shreya, I know you’re nervous when you’re around me. You
don’t need to be. If you don’t feel okay with anything I’m doing, I’ll
stop.” Shreya nodded her head in agreement. George reached out
to Shreya and began stroking her cheek. She put her hand on his.
“Are you okay with this?” George asked.
“Yes.”
His body was so close to her and he was afraid that she would
notice that he was having a monster heavy on him.
He began caressing her body gently as he pushed her hair aside
and began kissing her neck, taking in her sweet scent.
Shreya reached under the water and squeezed his fingers.
“Do you want me?” Shreya whispered.
“You have no idea how much,” claimed George.
Shreya slipped into the bed, noticing the softness of the sheets
that were unlike the ordinary ones she had at home. It wasn’t that
she didn’t respect her virginity, but George was unlike the regular
and average guys she would normally come across. Lost in George’s
dreams, Shreya turned off the bedside lamp and closed her eyes,
yet it took her long time to really fall asleep.
“Good Morning, Princess.” Roswell greeted Shreya as she
walked downstairs in the morning.
“Where is George?” Shreya asked anxiously.
“He has gone for hunting.” Roswell answered half smiling.
“Hunting…you mean….” Shreya felt scared to think and say
anything in this regard further.
“George only drinks from animals.” Roswell clarified herself.
Shreya silently gave her a horrified look.
“Even me too.” Roswell said in a low murmur. “With the
passage of time, we all have learnt to feed from animals and not to
harm humans.”
“Don’t you feel a craving to drink from humans when you are
around them?” Shreya asked with pauses.
“Yes, we all do…. And this craving increases when we are around
anyone whom we love and fancy…” Roswell held a vicious look.
Shreya tried to maintain a patient look.
“Does George feel a great craving for my blood?” Shreya asked,
releasing a huge gush of breath.
Roswell gave her a gloomy look before she replied “Definitely,
he feels a great craving for your blood as he loves you like anything.
But trust me, you are safer here more than anywhere.”
“I know George can never harm me” there was a confidence
in Shreya’s voice.
“What would you relish for breakfast?” Roswell asked her
calmly.
spent a great leisure time. But, one thing was definitely missing in
their perfect love relationship.
George was trying to avoid any lovemaking encounter between
them by trying to engage her here and there.
Lying on rooftop and staring at stars with George, Shreya said
to him, “In my whole life I never fancied a man before I met you. I
like you from the very first sight.”
“Don’t you feel afraid of the fact that I am a Vampire?” George’s
voice was deep.
“I am only and only afraid of one thing in this world, that is,
parting with you.”
Cupping George’s face, she said “To me, you are more human
than any other human in this world. You are my world actually.”
“Shreya….” George paused for a moment.
“Ya say… you can share anything with me,” she assured him.
“I don’t feel normal anymore around you. The more I feel
drawn to you the more I feel craving for your blood.”
Shreya gave him a compassionate look instead of terror.
“Damn it.” George banged his hand on wall in fury.
His wounds healed so fast that Shreya couldn’t believe her
eyes.
“Calm down…calm down,” she hugged him tightly.
“I trust you George, I trust our love,” she said comforting him.
“Do you really?” George sound was breaking.
“Yes, I do.”
George was mesmerized by her devotion and innocence, at that
moment he knew he would die for her without asking any question.
Now, George began to wonder about what it would feel like to
kiss her all night, to feel her body under his, as he drove himself
into her.
George was in bed with her, she wanted nothing more than to
feel his hands all over her body. George could sense her arousal.
“Shreya, are you sure? If you feel uncomfortable anytime, you
can tell me.” He said looking in her deep black eyes.
“I can’t be sure more than this.” Shreya hushed closing her eyes.
This was going to be a very long and memorable night.
“May I?” asked George, looking intently at her.
“What do you want?” Shreya asked back rolling her eyes
“May I kiss you?” George asked looking and pointing at her
rosy lips.
“Hmm.” Shreya smiled, feeling a rush of relief come over him.
Shreya screeched out. George reached over and stroked her
cheek with his hand. He could sense that she was nervous. His
lip swept across her barely touching her lips. Shreya leaned into
him, as his lips finally made full contact. He sucked on her tongue
tasting every bit of her. The scent of her made him excited instantly.
“I want you so badly. I want to make love to you all night long.”
“George, I want you too. I’m just scared.” Her eyelids began to
close half way as she whispered.
“Shreya, I will never hurt you. I have waited for centuries to
meet the perfect woman for me. That wonderful woman is you.”
George continued kissing Shreya. Her arousal increased as his kiss
deepened. Shreya could feel his excitement too.
George pulled her against him and started kissing her all over
very passionately.
Shreya moaned in response. She had never felt so many thrills
in her entire life.
George was driving her crazy.
George pulled Shreya’s black night gown and threw it on the
other side of the bed. Now, he was staring at her bare body, teasing
her curves with his tongue. With every passing second, the animal
just right. Shreya stepped inside the shower enclosure and began
washing. She could see George through the clear glass, watching her.
“Do you like to join?” Shreya asked him, looking fondly at his
muscular build.
George was in the shower instantly, kissing her neck from
behind, caressing her breasts, and teasing her nipples. She instantly
began moaning as he touched her.
Last night after tasting Shreya’s blood, George’s lust for her
blood had increased significantly, which he was apparently trying
to control. He could smell her sweet blood.
George’s hands were all over her body, exploring all her curves.
Shreya could feel George’s breath on her neck. She wanted to
turn around to give him a passionate kiss, but before that she felt
his fangs on her neck sipping her blood slowly.
“Oh my god, George!!!” Shreya screamed.
George licked the bite wound to seal it and then sealed her lips
with his before she could say anything.
She could feel warmth of his love filling her wound.
“Are you ready, honey?” George knocked Shreya’s room where
she was getting ready to go out with him for dinner.
“Yes, I am.” Turning she gave him a sweet smile.
George’s eyes grew larger as she walked towards him in
red shimmer. He couldn’t take his gaze away from her tall and
statuesque body and large full shimmering breast. There was
nothing beautiful and exotic like her he had ever seen.
After driving for half an hour, they were outside a creepy
looking building in a dark street.
“Bloodlust” Shreya read the name of that place written in
small words above the door.
“Is it a Goth club?” Shreya asked George.
“Yes, exclusively for my kind.” George said in amusement.
George pressed the bell on the door, the creepy sound of
doorbell almost scared Shreya.
“I could have taken you some other place for dinner, but
before you marry me, I want you to truly know who I am.” there
was sincerity in George’s words.
“My decision is never going to change. I’ll get accustomed to
your lifestyle gradually.” Shreya had only poured these words but
something made her shriek.
George’s friend Eric, who was sitting a few tables away with
Frank, was apparently feeding from a blood whore.
Eric latched onto her neck from behind. Blood whore gasped
as she felt pain. She turned around with a horrified look on her
face, holding her neck wound as she bled.
“It’s ok. I am here with you. You need not to fear.” George tried
to soothe her.
Her shriek had made Eric look at her frantically.
Shreya finished her dinner as fast she could. She felt sick to her
stomach being at that creepy Goth club.
George and Shreya were now under the moonlit night on
“Grand Hill’s terrace.
“Do you want to ask something?” he said to her on reading
her thoughts.
“George, do you.. don’t feel bad, but I want to know that, do
you also feed from those blood whores?” she asked hesitatingly.
“Yeah, sometimes I do. When my cravings for human blood
become uncontrollable.” He gave her a straight answer.
“I don’t like the thought of you drinking from other women.”
She groaned.
“Me neither. The only one I want to drink from is you.”
Shreya started blushing. George thought it was cute and
reminded him how human and fragile she was.
“If we are going to be together, I don’t want you to feed from
anyone but me. The bagged stuff is okay too, but no more live feeding.”
“I can live with that.” George smiled, this was going much
better than he envisioned. She seemed to be accepting him exactly
the way he was.
Holding Shreya’s gaze George whispered.
Sweetheart, you look like a deity,
Spring-eyed beauty with full of purity.
Your love made me romantic,
Your beauty made me poetic.
I was no longer like a man, but like an empty vessel
It’s you only who gave me nestle
You made me feel how it is to be alive
You awoke in me,
On this full moonlight
Enlightened by brilliant starlight,
Unquenchable thrust
Thirst for your love
Thirst for living again
Thirst for madly loving you
Thirst for your pure blood
An Unquenchable Thirst
She was so desperate to know the truth of her visions that she
behaved like that she had only a few moments left with her.
George brushed aside her movements toward him. Drenched
from the downpour; she wiped out the water dripping down her
face. George’s eyes caught sight of her, though not surprised by her
appearance, as she looked beautiful in every aspect. Extending his
hands toward her, he came close to her. She hugged him tightly.
“I need to know to reason behind my visions or I’ll go mad.”
She said sobbingly.
George stared at her sympathetically. The furrows in his brow
tensed.
“I know you may think I’m crazy, but I am having visions, I
can see things and I started having them about you. I’ve seen your
past. Shreya contemplated what she had just seen while standing
on the balcony.
Recently, I saw you in a castle with a princess and I feel...”
“Yeah say love, what do you feel?”
“Yet, I don’t exactly look like her, but I feel that I was that
princess in my past life.” She narrowed her eyes while speaking.
George was just watching her facial expressions cautiously.
“Yes, you are right. You were the princess in your past life
whom I used to love. Your name was Natalie. I served as a minister
to your father, King Raymond, the mightiest of all warriors and
Commander of the sky.”
Shreya met his eyes with an intense glare. Her body openly
shook. Apprehension overcame her. Her hand rubbed her
forehead, while she grasped at his words.
“You knew, who I was? From the day we met in Goa?” Shreya
said shaking George’s hand.
“No, I realized that when I sucked your blood for the first time,
but I was not sure that how you would react to this revelation.”
There was a hesitation in his tone.
“Your father, King Raymond was betrayed by his own chief
commander, Arden. I can still feel his presence in the old forgotten
castle.” George remarked painfully.
“What do you mean by that, is he also a vampire?” Shreya
commented back.
“No, he is not. He is a cursed spirit.”
“What? How?” Shreya wondered.
“The curse that Arden had brought to our empire is still
chasing us after centuries.” George said again gritting his teeth.
Shreya looked at him blankly and then she said “I want to
know each and everything from the start…. All details….”
“As you wish.” George just sounded pathetic.
London 1350
In 1345, a tribal King Raymond extended his own mighty
kingdom, right beside the lake and with an open view of the
mountains. His earlier tribal kingdom soon rose to become one
of the most prosperous ones and his castle was one of the most
luxurious ones.
Arden, the commander chief of his army, was the key person
behind all his extraordinary success. The stories of Arden’s chivalry
were not only famous in our circles rather everywhere we go. He
had fought many wars courageously, alongside the King.
No doubt, Arden was a brave warrior, but shrewdness was also
one of his traits. Public paid allegiance to King Raymond, who
himself was a great warrior once, but now old and withered was
reduced to a shadow of own glorious past. Slowly and reluctantly,
the army inclined towards Arden.
As the king had only one offspring and that too, a girl, so Arden
was confident that after King Raymond, he was going to sit on the
throne. Even though he had grown powerful enough to overthrow
the throne, he still wanted to get it legitimately, so that the public
would accept him as their king without any resistance or revolt.
“We never thought that our love gets doomed.” His expressions
darkened.
“Doomed… How?” Shreya asked, a frown of doubt wrinkling
her smooth brow for a moment.
“My lady, King Raymond is looking for you.” You were
informed by a maid as soon as you entered your magnificent room
in the royal castle.
“Father.” You reached to his chamber bowing down to him.
“My lovely princess! Come here my child.” He hugged you as
soon as you reached him.
“You called for me, father?” You asked.
“Oh yes, where have you been?” His question caused a tremor
in you.
You had already decided to tell him all about our relationship,
but you were not prepared to tell him, just now. So you took your
time and faked. “I had gone for a sightseeing with my friend Anna
and others.”
“Oh! Great, so you enjoyed your day?”
“Yes, father.”
“I believe this day will bring more happiness to you,” King
Raymond winked.
“I do hope so,” you said to yourself.
“Princess, I want you to be present at tonight’s royal party in
your best dress.”
“Surely, father.” Bowing, you left to get ready.
The party hall was visited by all reputed people of the kingdom.
They sat quietly atop a hillside in a long and comfortable craft of a
dwelling with a brilliant shining roof of gems. The walls were full
of expensive paintings and decorative items.
One often used to wonder about the beauty of the establishment.
A stone hearth centered the party hall with open shuttered windows
on the bottom floor. The entrance door was very wide and tall. No
entrance was allowed without a royal invitation. The ceilings were
high and the party hall was spacious and broad.
The party hall became alive as you entered with your friend
Anna and other mates.
Your golden brown hair was in an upsweep, with few brown
curls down around your face. You were in your favorite golden
dress with the silver lace. It had a round neckline that showed
some cleavage, but wasn’t too scandalous.
You were the most beautiful girl I had ever laid eyes upon. A
curl of your golden brown hair was touching your cheeks and eyes
of most unusual color, perchance a blue of sorts. I sat tall upon my
mount with an amused look on my face. With your head tilted to
one side, you looked curiously and intently at me.
“Your Majesty!” suddenly you found Arden standing right in front
of you to escort you and he took your hand in his. His simple face and
ordinary features did not reveal the secret depths of his evil desires.
Engrossed in looking at each other, a loud and thunderous
voice caught our attention. We both became blank as soon as we
deciphered the meaning that voice was carrying.
Your father announced, “All present here, kindly welcome
princess Natalie. I am feeling very delight tonight, while announcing
her engagement to one and only, the heroic Arden. The whole place
was roaring with the thunderstorm of clapping and cheering voices.
Startled, you looked at me innocently, as if you too were
unaware of this terrible announcement.
You glanced over your shoulder to look at me secretly.
Suddenly, the thought of losing each other gnawed within us. I
sighed silently, hoping not to call attention of anyone else, but
found Arden could not leave the pathetic sight of me.
At that moment, you couldn’t do anything. Anna wiped the
sweat from your brow with an expensive piece of cloth, but your
golden brown hair clung to your forehead.
Now, you were regretting not telling your father about your
liking on right time.
I could feel Arden’s eyes sparkling with victory.
A huge grin formed upon his face. Standing, he raised his
drink and said in his loud voice “For my fiancée, Natalie.”
Shaking my head in disbelief, I heard the mutterings of the
cheer, Arden had instilled within the crowd.
Somewhere, he knew very well that I too liked you. Jealousy
swelled within me. Why could not I get whatever I wanted from
my whole heart? Life wasn’t fair to have treated me in this manner.
Unable to allow him the upper hand on me, I left the party hastily
without saying a word to anyone. Your gaze chased me until you
lost my sight, but you were physically unable to chase me, being a
princess and the cynosure of that royal party.
In the stillness of the night, you were standing in your room’s
balcony, with eyes glued to the clear sky and the stars’ glitter
littering the heavens. Your father who had just arrived behind you,
wondered vaguely, if all your concern was for marriage.
You were a pampered kid. Your father had never done anything
against your wishes, but this time he had taken such a big decision
even without asking your opinion.
Your eyes caught him, while he was standing by the balcony
door, intently observing you.
“You don’t seem to be happy, My dear.” King Raymond uttered,
as you hugged him sobbingly.
“Father, I have something to confess.” your words echoed
within him.
For a tense moment of indecision, you exchanged glances with
your father. The look upon your face gave no hue to your father
what was troubling you that much.
“Yes, tell me sweetheart.” He demanded.
“I can’t marry Arden.”
His old body bent over, worn from the years, and the stress he
lived under. His dry, wrinkled skin folded tension around his eyes.
“Any particular reason?”
“Father, I….Actually, I love someone else.” You replied it in an
unease.”
“Whom?” He uttered.
He lowered his head, noticing you biting your bottom lip
while you thought.
“George, a minister in your council,”
“In which way, George is better than Arden?” Your father
looked at you in disbelief.
“Father, it’s about love and not about competition….” Your
words made him look at you surprisingly.
You kept on saying, “Tell me, why you didn’t marry again
to any other woman after mother’s death. Didn’t you have better
options?” There was a point in your talks.
King Raymond kept quiet for some time, but then finally he
spoke, “I can very well understand your feeling. Very well, dear,
after all you are only one whom I have in this vast world, but
sometimes we have to make sacrifices. With great powers come
great responsibilities.”
“Arden may be a great warrior, but he is a shrewd and mean
person, he can’t love anyone.” You stated the obvious.
King Raymond noticed the angry tears that had filled your eyes.
“I’ll better sacrifice by killing myself rather than marrying that
monster.” You cried and said in a painful voice.
“Just try to understand, my dear, Arden has fought so many
battles by my side, I owe him. Our army considers him his leader
more than me.”
“So you are trading your daughter for that. Being an army
chief, it was his duty to fight. But he did all that in expectation of
your throne, even you too understand that. ” You revolted.
“We don’t have any other option left with us.” Arden said
frankly.
They walked aimlessly in no-man’s-land for eleven more days.
By now, Arden had killed his four more soldiers, in order to survive.
On the eleventh day, the evil group saw a ray of hope, when
they sensed life nearby them and noticed a small village.
Arden and his soldiers, were tired and nearly on the verge
of hunger and death. Arden, the infallible warrior had become
so weak and thin that today he could be defeated by an ordinary
civil person. In such pathetic condition, he and his men couldn’t
even think of raising a fight or offend any person of that village. To
make matters worse, Arden had injured his left leg and arm badly
as a result of a fall from a cliff while finding the way.
They reached to tribal people of village like pathetic beggars.
This tribe was ruled by Wika tribal chiefs, who were feared black
magicians and invincible warriors.
“Who are you and where you have come from?” A full figured
man of around seven feet asked them, while throwing away one of
the soldier just with a very little force of his right leg.
A small push by that man had caused this soldier to fall
more than twenty feet away. This man was very much strong,
undoubtedly, so was Arden. But it was a matter of time, today the
great warrior whose gallantry songs were sung across all mountains
and plains was not even able to stand on his legs properly.
“I am Arden and they are my men.” Arden bowed in front of
that man, whom by now he had assumed as the chief of that tribe.
Listening to the name, Arden, a young man without a leg and a
damaged eye reached to the chief and whispered slowly in his ear.
“He is that man, the chief commander of King Raymond’s army.
Though he was speaking in a low murmur, but he was audible
to most of the people present there.
“Are you sure?” the Wika tribal chief confirmed.
lifted his face and met his eyes. He tried to maintain a stoic look.
“My father died in a war. He was very brave and strong, but
died unnoticed.”
“Surely, he would have been, as you have got your courage and
power from him. I have never met a man whose heartbeat doesn’t
become uneven on my revelation. But you…. You are altogether a
different man.” Chief spoke to him calmly.
“But how did you die and became a Vampire?” Arden asked
him astonished.
“That’s a very long and centuries old story.”
“Did you say centuries old?” Arden couldn’t believe what he
had just heard.
“Yes, I am an immortal.” Chief confirmed.
“My name is Javon. I belonged to France but now I am trapped
here for more than hundreds year.”
“You are trapped?” Arden inquired further.
“Yes, I was a very wicked and thirsty Vampire. I drank and
annihilated villages all over this area. My unquenchable thrust
brought me a curse and trapped me here in this area.”
So now, you can’t leave this place?
“Yeah, I can’t leave this no-man’s-land.”
“Who cursed you?”
“It was tribal King Patrick, Raymond’s ancestor.”
“I have heard of Patrick. He was believed to be the very
powerful tribal king in the line of Raymond’s ancestors.
“No, he was not. He was as ordinary as a layman.” The chief
protested Arden’s statement.
“He used black magic to win over his enemies with help of his
witchy wife, who was a great sorceress by his side. He was nothing
without Elena, his witch wife. His wife helped him to trap me.”
“So in a way you are also an enemy of King Raymond.”
“I was right to call you a clever man, now you got my point.”
Javon gave him a devilish smile.
“Now, how do you quench your blood lust?”
“I just feed the handful people left in this land without killing
them and then I make them forget what had happened to them.”
“You mean a kind of mind control.”
“Yeah! I am a very powerful Vampire. Vampires gain their
powers by blood and I have drank so much that now I have more
power than any Vampire has.”
“So are there any other Vampires too?”
“Obviously there are, but not in this region, I am the only one
here.”
“When you are so much powerful then why don’t you free
yourself from this curse?”
“Patrick’s wife was a very powerful witch. Her spell was very
powerful and any other Vampire wouldn’t even have survived, but
I was harder to be destroyed. I thought her spell would go with her
after her death, but that witch had transferred her powers to her
bloodline.”
One doubt came in Arden’s mind now.
“You are suspecting my motives correctly.” Javon said as if he
was reading Arden’s mind.
“Do you have mind reading power too?” Arden asked
bewildered.
“Yes, I do have.”
“Fine, I wish to know that why you revealed your identity to
me only. What made you trust on me so readily?” Arden’s voice
was harsh.
“You are a clever man, but not that much as I had imagined
you to be.” Javon said in exasperation.
“When I can control and read somebody’s mind, then I can
better distinguish between my friends and foes too.”
body. At this point of the change, I was half unconscious and was
experiencing the most horrible nightmares ever.
This is a vampirism phenomenal. When someone sucks
your blood or you receive blood of someone, then the memories
between the two people always gets exchange.
Now, I knew what was happening to me, as I had visions of
Arden’s transformation and all that happed in no-man’s-land.
Yet, I too was a Vampire now, but in no way as powerful as Arden.
I secretly rose from my position and noticed the situation of
the castle. Most of the guards were dead.
I needed men to outnumber him. I saved all those who were
about to die with my vampire venom and included them in my
team. Soon, I had more number of people with me than the
number of men Arden had.
Again, a life-death struggle ensued between us. Your curse
worked and Arden got defeated, but by the time, most of my
Vampire mates were killed.
Your curse made the castle, go into ruins.
Days passed into years and years passed into centuries. A great
amount of time passed and this saga was engraved in history only,
but one thing didn’t pass with time and that was my love for you.”
George smiled softly and hugged Shreya.
“I love you George.” Her voice was desperate and tears filled
her eyes.
“We are eternal mates; even death couldn’t keep us apart.”
George let out a sigh of exasperation.
As softly as possible, Shreya looked at George and replied “we
can’t be eternal mates until I am a human.”
The Deception
They succeed in their plans and Arden was caught and banished from
their empire. Gaining his consciousness, he found himself in a snow
desert. Everything was frozen there. After losing Natalie, he had lost
the purpose of his life, so he traded his soul to an evil Vampire and
now he was strong enough to take revenge from George for what he
did. He first killed his love Anna to take revenge for his love Natalie.
Eric and Frank who used to be Arden’s companions, helped George,
whom he had promised to award high post in his ministry. They told
him Arden’s secrets after draining him empty. Arden left George in
charge of his recently transformed friends Eric and Frank. They fed
him with their blood and made him a strong Vampire. These three
conspired against Arden and finally killed Him.
Shreya was silent for a moment. It seemed that she had lived
through so much perplexity that now she had become clueless.
George looked up at Kunal with a murderous look.
Now, Shreya was in a dilemma whom she should believe and
whom to suspect. George asked Shreya, not to believe Kunal and
without wasting a single second he dug his fangs into her neck and
started draining her faster.
As he was draining her, she clearly had glimpses of his past life
and she applied her full force to free herself from George, as she
saw George making love with Anna. By the time, Kunal was there
to help her, a fiery battle started between Kunal and George, to
Shreya’s surprise, now Kunal was also a Vampire. Shreya felt that
George had already drained her so much and she was having very
less chances of survival.
Kunal and Stefan exchanged glances like planning for what
needed to be done.
“Feed on me.” Stefan, who had also come with Kunal, offered
Shreya his blood, by cutting his veins with a knife. She drank
greedily. Vampire venom was causing her endless pain.
The exchange was complete. His blood was working its way
through Shreya’s system and she had started feeling pain intensely.
She let out a sigh of ache.
restored his faith in humanity. George realized that she was his
light, his guiding angel.
He wanted to draw her to his chest and caressed her head
softly. He realized the she belonged to him only.
Their life had been happy. They had loved each other in
ways that was platonic yet passionate, distant yet close. She had
always been there for him and vice versa. He had never felt such a
connection with anyone before, not even Anna.
Shreya wanted to grow older, submitting to his protection, and
he wanted to spend his eternity protecting her. They were both
wanted and loved by each other.
Shreya felt the emotions of George, as he felt it. Her eyes were
getting wet with tenderness. George, held out his hands in a simple
but moving gesture of surrender and Shreya took them with her,
gently holding his hand.
Like Shreya, Kunal had also read her mind telepathically. The next
moment he dug his sword deep into George’s heart, the heart in which
Shreya had sensed true love feelings for her, just a moment before.
Furious, Shreya threw Arden into the fire bowl in no moment.
Meanwhile, the companions of Arden and George were fighting
with each other.
The whole place started to crumble and was getting destroyed.
Now, the survivors ran to save their lives instead of fighting.
Whatever was causing those crashing sounds was also weakening
the foundations of the castle. Water was beginning to pour in
torrent from many cracks.
The stairs to the floor of the underground chamber was around
thirty feet away from where the clash was happening, but even in
that short distance a rat race brewed.
Shreya watched everybody engaged in a pell-mell race for the
stairs and yet she refused to run. And hard at their heels came
another of the ear-splitting crashes. More chips flew and now tiny
streams of water leaped from cracks which appeared in the stone.
Again, there was the roar, another crash, and Shreya moaned in
pain as a large chunk of rock struck her side and tore the flesh. The
water level rose another foot.
Her mind was fevered and her thoughts jumbled. She had to
escape somehow. That terrorizing crash was heard again.
Shreya was not sure about her future. Once outside she might
be killed either by George’s or Arden’s companions. But this place
was also getting destroyed and she was not safe here. Running, she
succeeded in getting out of that place.
into the darkness of the night, she felt the bitter chill in the air, and
remembered the catastrophe in that castle chamber.
The house had started to feel lonely and empty, even with the
maid Roswell. Shreya missed seeing George every day.
Unbeknownst to her, she was gripped in the shadows. Her
head stretched heaven bound, while she dashed into the balcony
of her room. Her eyes searched desperately for some sign or noise
of life in the sky, but none could be found this night. Immersed in
her grave gazes and thoughtfulness, she sensed George’s touch on
her face as the cool breeze touched her face.
Shreya found her lips curving into a smile as she remembered
the feel of his arms on her waist. That was the last time she had
danced with him.
Shreya looked into the darkness. She wondered that she was the
last thing he saw before he passed away. Was his last memory of their
life together that of perplexed moments? He was simultaneously
full of love and agony before he drew his final breath.
Four weeks before, this morning, he had woken up to find her
asleep next to him, when she was still human. He always used to
wake up before her.
As she craved for him, her sense of loss intensified consume her
inside. She felt a twinge swell through her body, which dwindles
her. She tried to squeeze out the tears that she knew were there,
just waiting to spill out, but nothing came out of those lovely eyes.
For centuries, George had believed that Anna was his soul mate,
but Shreya’s true and innocent love had proved him wrong. Shreya
had telepathically seen their past life story in the mind of his love.
London 1350
Shreya, who was Natalie in her past life, was the only daughter of
a tribal king, Raymond, who had extended his own mighty kingdom,
right beside the lake and with an open view of the mountains with
the help of Arden – the valiant commander chief of his army.
Arden was in love with both Natalie and the throne.
King Raymond had announced Natalie’s marriage with Arden.
Natalie was not happy with her father’s decision as she loved
George, a minister in her father’s counsel.
Shreya visited the old wretched castle, where all had begun.
Where, she had ruled with her father in the past and dreamt first
time to live happily with George. Everywhere she went, it reminded
her of her past. She knew it would be as it was once her home.
But now it was in ruins. With the wealth left by George, she
had bought that land and now was renovating it for the past four
months. She thought if she could get some of the parts repaired,
she could live in her past.
The small old times place they had lived in was now a large
city with only a few original buildings, which were turned into
historical sites for tourists.
She had lived lonely for long period. She decided to call her
brother, Akhil and see if he was okay.
“Hello, Akhil..!! It’s me, Shreya.” She smiled wider. Her teeth
flashed.
For a moment, Akhil was silent. He was clearly stunned by her
call for which he was desperately waiting for so many months.
“Shreya? …Where were you? All this time…? He asked with
pauses.
Shreya began to realize her mistake of ignoring her brother.
“And why did you change your number without informing me?”
Akhil asked, trying to sound angry but he sounded pathetic
instead.
“I just wanted to live for some time in my own ways. I wanted to
check on you, see if you are okay.” Came a weak and painful voice.
Shreya paused briefly to consider how humiliating the next
few minutes would be.
Any hopes of seeing his sister soon seemed to be quashed.
“How could I be fine when I don’t have any whereabouts of
my little sister?” His slurred words were heartbreaking for Shreya.
“I know. That’s why I called, I just needed to hear your voice,”
pain started to set in again.
“I will call you again.” As Shreya hung up the phone, she
smiled forcefully, knowing that someday she would be with his
brother and friends again. Or the smile was more for the reason
that somewhere George might have reincarnated and she would
find him in a few decades.
