Technology in the classroom can benefit both students and teachers by changing the way instruction is

delivered and information is received

Teachers can provide instruction beyond the standard "stand and deliver" method, utilizing tools such as
online videos, interactive demonstrations, class surveys, and educational websites to expand their
communication and address myriad types of learners

Technology enables teachers to make learning a truly interactive experience

Students can learn at their own pace, helping increase their level of comfort with both the topic and the
learning environment in general

In-classroom lessons coupled with activities on computers or mobile devices both in and outside the
classroom allow students to read directions, process information, and complete their work at their own
pace

Technology can ensure that no student experiences a "21st-century skills and opportunity" gap

The promise of technology in the classroom is great: enabling personalized, mastery-based learning;
saving teacher time; and equipping students with the digital skills they will need for the 21st century

While there are potential benefits and risks to deploying technology in learning environments,
intentional and thoughtful inclusion of technology can maximize opportunities for learning and minimize
the risk of doing harm to students
